Arcimoto Ultra Efficient Electric Vehicles

Overview

The Modular Utility Vehicle (“MUV™”) from Arcimoto is a modular transport vehicle built on the same base platform as the FUV. The main difference between the MUV and FUV is that the MUV is equipped with a rear cargo area rather than a rear passenger seat. Otherwise, the operation of the MUV is identical to the FUV.
The rear cargo area of the MUV can be equipped with one of three configuration packages (Carrier, Utility, and Cargo), described below.

Additional Documentation

Refer to the FUV Owner’s Manual (available online at Arcimoto.com) for important safety information, vehicle specifications, operating instructions, and more.

DANGER
Read, understand, and follow all of the instructions and safety precautions in the FUV Owner’s Manual and on all product labels.
Failure to follow the safety precautions could result in serious injury or death.

The specifications included in this supplement are specific to the three MUV vehicle configuration packages: Carrier, Utility, and Cargo.

Carrier, Utility, and Cargo Packages

  • Carrier Package (standard): Features a flatbed cargo carrier with multiple mounting locations for (M8) eyebolts. The Carrier Package comes standard with the MUV.
  • Utility Package (optional): The standard Carrier Package, with removable Flatbed Side Rail Assy.
  • Cargo Package (optional): Features a removable enclosed cargo carrier with lockable side door, emergency door release latch, and interior light. The cargo carrier mounts to the flatbed cargo carrier.

In all three configurations, the MUV provides multiple mounting locations for (M8) eyebolts.

Using the Carrier Package

The flatbed cargo carrier provides ten mounting locations for M8-1.25 eyebolts:
Carrier PackageEyebolts (four included) can be installed in any of these mounting locations. Note that there is one hole in the flatbed cargo carrier that should NOT be used with eyebolts, as indicated above

Simply screw the eyebolts into the mounting location holes.
Make sure they are screwed all the way in and are tight before use.

Use hooks, straps, and tie downs (not included) to ensure that cargo on the flatbed is secured before driving.
Note that these mounting locations are available to use in all MUV configurations.

Utility Package

The Utility Package configuration features the Carrier
Package flatbed cargo area, plus the (removable) Flatbed Side Rail Assy.
The Flatbed Side Rail Assy includes left and right box sides and rear tailgate with mounting hardware.

Removing the Flatbed Side Rail Assy

CAUTION: The aluminum Side Rails and Tailgate have sharp corners and edges.

The aluminum Side Rails and Tailgate are easily removed from the flatbed cargo carrier.

This process requires a torque wrench with a 12mm socket.

  1. Unlatch both sides of the tailgate and slide the tailgate straight up and out of the slots on the side rails.

  2. Remove the two M8 bolts that secure each side rail to the frame of the MUV:

  3. Slide each side rail straight up and out of the mounting holes on the flatbed.

Re-Installing the Flatbed Side Rail Assy

The aluminum Side Rails and hinged Tailgate are easily mounted on the flatbed cargo carrier via four bolts (two each side).

This process requires a torque wrench with a 12mm socket.

  1. Install both side rails: Slide the mounting posts on the rails into the mounting slots on each side of the flatbed.
  2. On each side rail, align all three mounting posts with the matching slots on the flatbed. Slide the rail all the way down so that all three mounting posts are fully inserted.

Cargo Package

The Cargo Package configuration features a removable enclosed Cargo Carrier:

  • Lockable Side Door: The side door features a double locking latch mechanism. Note that the lock on the
Cargo Carrier uses a different key than the ignition switch on the MUV.

  • Emergency door release latch: The inside of the side door features an emergency door release latch. The emergency door release latch allows the door to be opened from inside, even if the door is locked.

  • Interior light: A removable, motion-activated interior light is mounted to the interior roof of the Cargo Carrier. The interior light is rechargeable via USB.

  • Exterior CHMSL light: The Cargo Carrier is equipped with a Center High- Mount Stop Light (CHMSL) that replaces the standard MUV CHMSL.

  3. Lift the Cargo Carrier up and off of the flatbed.

  4. Replace the eleven mounting bolts in their mounting holes in the flatbed.

  5. Connect the CHMSL plug from the CHMSL assembly to the CHMSL connector.

Note that the CHMSL plug is tucked up into the CHMSL assembly on the MUV. Pull the plug out to connect it to the CHMSL connector.
Use a cable tie to secure the CHMSL wire / connector to the MUV frame.

Installing the Cargo Carrier

  1. Disconnect the CHMSL connector, and tuck the CHMSL plug up into the CHMSL assembly to move it out of sight.
    Cargo Package

  2. Remove the eleven M8- 1.25 mounting bolts from the flatbed.

  3. Place the Cargo Carrier on the flatbed, taking care to align the mounting holes on the floor of the Cargo Carrier with the matching holes on the flatbed.

  4. Secure the Cargo Carrier to the flatbed with the eleven M8-1.25 mounting bolts removed in step two. Torque bolts to 15 Ft-LBS.

  5. Connect the CHMSL plug from the Cargo Carrier into the CHMSL connector.

Important Safety Notes

  • Never transport people or animals in the MUV.
  • Pay special attention to braking, cornering, and speed, especially when the MUV is fully loaded. Cargo items might shift, fall, and move with fast starts, turns, and stops.
  • Ensure that the door the Cargo Carrier is closed and latched before driving.
  • Refer to the FUV Owner’s Manual for details on determining the load limit for your vehicle.

WARNING
NEVER exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of the vehicle.
Exceeding the GVWR can reduce stability and handling or affect braking capabilities, leading to a loss of control, which may result in serious injury or death.
