Warranty conditions

The five-year Eminent warranty applies for all Eminent products unless mentioned otherwise before or during the moment of purchase. When having bought a second-hand Eminent product the remaining period of warranty is measured from the moment of purchase by the product’s first owner. The Eminent warranty applies to all Eminent products and parts indissolubly connected to and/or mounted on the main product. Power supply adapters, batteries, antennas and all other products not integrated in or directly connected to the main product and/or products of which, without reasonable doubt, can be assumed that wear and tear show a different pattern than the main product are not covered by the Eminent warranty. Products are not covered by the Eminent warranty when exposed to incorrect/improper use, external influences, and/or when opened by parties other than Eminent.

Should you experience any problems with this product, you are covered by a five-year Eminent warranty. Please keep this manual and the receipt in a safe place.

Functions and features

With the USB card reader, you can read and write all popular memory cards! The 12-in-1 card reader allows you to connect your SIM telephone card as well. When using the enclosed SIM Card editing software, you can edit your phonebook and SMS messages and save it to your computer.

The USB Cardreader supports the following memory cards: Mini SD, Micro SD (T-Flash), Secure Digital, Multimedia card, Multimedia card plus (MMC), RS-MMC (MMC Mobile), MMC card 4.0, RS-MMC4.0 (MMC Mobile 4.0), MMC micro, MS / MD Duo / MS PRO DUO and SIM card.

Packing contents

The following parts need to be present in the packing:

  • EM1060, 12-in-1 Cardreader USB 2.0.
  • USB extension cable.
  • CD-ROM with drivers and manuals.
  • Manual.

Installation procedure

Follow the steps below to install the USB card reader on your computer. In case you have Windows 98SE, then continue with section 3.1.  If you have Windows ME, 2000 or XP you don’t have to install drivers on your computer to use the USB Cardreader.

These versions of Windows have built-in drivers for this product. Installation will occur automatically. In case you have Windows ME, 2000 or XP, then continue with section 3.2.

Driver installation (Windows 98SE)

  1. Place the enclosed CD-ROM in the CD-ROM or DVD station of your computer.
  2. The CD-ROM will start automatically.
  3. Select your language.
  4. Click ‘Next’.
  5. Select ‘Setup for Windows 98SE’.
  6. Click ‘Next’.
  7. Follow the installation steps as displayed on your screen to finish the installation.

You can also start the wizard manually when the CD-ROM does not start automatically. Go to ‘Start’, ‘Run’, type ‘x:\wizard\wizard.exe’ (‘x’ is the drive letter of your CD-ROM station) and press enter.

Installing the software

  1. Place the enclosed CD-ROM in the CD-ROM or DVD station of your computer.
  2. The CD-ROM will start automatically.
  3. Select your language.
  4. Click ‘Next’.
  5. Select ‘Install SIM software’
  6. Click ‘Next’.
  7. Follow the installation steps as displayed on your screen to finish the installation.

You can also start the wizard manually when the CD-ROM does not start automatically. Go to ‘Start’, ‘Run’, type ‘x:\wizard\wizard.exe’ (‘x’ is the drive letter of your CD-ROM station) and press enter.

Installing the USB Cardreader

  1. Connect the USB card reader to an available USB port on your computer. We recommend using a USB 2.0 port when your computer has USB 2.0 ports.
  2. Windows will recognize the USB card reader automatically.
  3. Put your memory card carefully in the card reader.
  4. You will now see an additional ‘Removable Disc’ in Windows Explorer.
  5. You can view, change, or remove the contents of the memory card by accessing the removable disc.
    Hint! If your USB card reader does not fit into the USB port of your computer, you can use the enclosed extension cable.

Reading out a SIM card

The USB card reader can also read out SIM cards, besides reading out memory cards. This allows you to maintain your telephone numbers and SMS Messages.

  1. Put the SIM card carefully in the card reader.
  2. Click ‘Start’.
  3. Select ‘Programs’ or ‘All Programs’.
  4. Select SIM editor.
  5. Click ’SIM card editor 3.0’ to start the program.

Managing telephone numbers

  1. Click in the menu on the left on ‘Phonebook’ (nr. 10).
  2. The phone numbers will be loaded and displayed on your screen.
  3. Click ‘Add’ (nr. 8) when you want to add a new telephone number to your phonebook. Enter the data of your contact.
  4. Check a contact and click ‘Delete’ (nr. 7) when you want to delete a contact from the phonebook.
  5. Double-click a contact when you want to change the data of an existing contact.

Managing SMS messages

  1. Click in the menu on the left on ‘SMS messages’ (nr. 11).
  2. The SMS messages will be loaded and displayed on your screen.
  3. Check a message and click ‘Delete’ (nr. 7) when you want to delete an SMS message.
  4. Check a message and click ‘Copy to computer’ (nr. 2) when you want to copy an SMS message to your computer.

Making a backup
The SIM card editor has a very useful backup function that you can use to easily save all the telephone data to your hard drive.

  1. Click the ‘Backup function’ (nr. 12) in the menu on the left.
  2. The telephone data will be saved in the installation directory of the SIM card editor. The standard location of this directory is ‘C:\Program Files\SIM editor’.
  3. You can also choose to export the data of your SIM card manually. In this case, you click ‘File’ and then click ‘Export’.
  4. Click ‘File’ and then click ‘Import’ to replace a currently exported file back to your telephone.
