WIFI Antenna & Antenna Cable Installation Guidelines
Installation Guidelines
Application Note: The guidelines are for the installation of the Antenna and
Antenna cable for PIC6.1 controls that contain native dual band WIFI . It
provides guidelines for the routing of the Coax Cable of the magnetic mount
Antenna and the RF ports on the PIC6.1 control.
NOTE: Read the entire instruction manual before starting the
installation.
WARNING
ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD Failure to follow this warning could result in
personal injury or death. Before installing or servicing unit, always turn off
all power to unit. There may be more than 1 disconnect switch. Turn off
accessory heater power, if applicable.
WARNING
Cut Hazard Failure to follow this warning could result in personal injury or
death. Sheet metal parts may have sharp edges or burrs. Use care and wear
appropriate protective clothing and gloves when handling parts.
INSTALLATION
Step 1 — Shut off power to the unit at the main circuit breaker. More
than one disconnect may power the equipment. Be certain all power is removed
prior to proceeding.
Step 2 — Locate a spot on the top of the control box to place the two
included WIFI antennas. Ideally, on the horizontal flat top surface. Clean the
surface and place the antenna mounts in the identified location. The
separation of the antennas should be approximately 50 cm or 19 inches)
Step 3 — Route the antenna cables through one of the grommet holes in the
back of the control box. The opening in the grommet should be sized to make a
tight seal around the coax cable. When routing the cable leave a little slack
in the cable to allow the cable to drip down below the hole in the control box
and come back up and into the hole. This forms a drip loop and will allow
moisture to drip off of the antenna cable and not ente r into the control box.
Step 4 — Unlock the control box panel cover. Open the control box panel
cover and route the antenna cable across the top of the box towards the hinge
side of the cover. Use wire ties to secure the cable in 2 or 3 locations
across the top. Place wire ties on each side of the hinge. Allow enough slack
that door can open all the way without causing strain on the antenna cable.
Step 5 – Continue routing the antenna cable across the top of the control
box panel cover and secure with 3 wire ties. Loop the antenna cable down and
attach to the RF SMA connector on the PIC6.1 control. Torque the SMA connector
to 3(MIN)-4(MAX) in-lb / 0.34(NIN)-0.45(MAX) N-m.
Step 6 – Close the control box panel cover and lock.
Step 7 – Turn power on
