EM131A5C-BS Countertop Microwave Ovens
Product Information
The EM131A5C-BS is a microwave solo oven with a capacity of 1.2
cu.ft. It operates at a rated voltage of 120V~ and a frequency of
60Hz. The oven has a rated input power of 1550W and a rated output
power of 1100W. It comes with a turntable with a diameter of 12.4
inches. The external dimensions of the oven are approximately
20.5×17.1×12.8 inches, and it weighs around 34.6 lbs.
Product Usage Instructions
Before operating the microwave solo oven, please review the
following product usage instructions:

Read and understand all the instructions provided in this
instruction manual. -
Ensure that the oven is set up correctly according to the
instructions given on page EN-14. -
To avoid possible exposure to excessive microwave energy,
follow the precautions mentioned on page EN-01:-
Do not operate the oven with the door open.

Avoid placing any objects between the oven front face and the
door. -
Do not use the oven if it is damaged, especially if there is
damage to the door, hinges, latches, or sealing surfaces. -
Do not attempt to adjust or repair the oven yourself; seek
assistance from qualified service personnel.

Ensure that the oven is properly grounded by connecting it to a
properly grounded outlet as per the grounding instructions on page -
To reduce the risk of fire in the oven cavity, follow these
precautions:-
Do not overcook food and closely supervise the oven during
use. -
Remove wire twist-ties from paper or plastic bags before
placing them inside the oven. -
If any material inside the oven ignites, keep the oven door
closed, turn off the oven, and disconnect the power cord or shut
off power at the fuse or circuit breaker panel. -
Do not use the cavity for storage purposes.

in case of any issues with the oven. -
The oven comes with a one-year limited warranty. Refer to page

operation can result in harmful exposure to microwave energy. It is important
not to defeat or tamper with the safety interlocks.
(b). Do not place any object between the oven front face and the door or allow
soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces.
(c). Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important
that the oven door closes properly and that there is no damage to the: (1).

Read all instructions before using the appliance.
Read and follow the specific: “PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO
EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY” found on page 1.
As with most cooking appliances, close supervision is necessary to reduce the
risk of a fire in the oven cavity.
This appliance must be grounded. Connect only to properly grounded outlet. See
“GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS” found on page 7.
To reduce the risk of fire in the oven cavity: 1. Do not overcook
food. Carefully attend appliance when paper, plastic, or other combustible
materials are placed inside the oven to facilitate cooking. 2. Remove wire
twist-ties from paper or plastic bag before placing bag in oven. 3. If
material inside of the oven ignite, keep oven door closed, turn oven off, and
disconnect the power cord, or shut off power at the fuse or circuit breaker
panel. 4. Do not use the cavity for storage purposes.

Do not leave paper products, cooking utensils, or food in the cavity when not
in use.
Install or locate this oven only in accordance with the installation
instructions provided.
As with any appliance, close supervision is necessary when used by children.
This microwave should be serviced only by qualified service personnel. Contact
nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or adjustment.
Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea are able to overheat beyond the boiling
point without appearing to be boiling. Visible bubbling or boiling when the
container is removed from the microwave oven is not always present. THIS COULD
RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUIDS SUDDENLY BOILING OVER WHEN THE CONTAINER IS
DISTURBED OR A SPOON OR OTHER UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID. 1. Do not
overheat the
liquid. 2. Stir the liquid both
before and halfway through heating it. 3. Do not use straightsided containers
with narrow necks.

4. After heating, allow the container to stand in the microwave oven for a
short time before removing the container.
5. Use extreme care when inserting a spoon or other utensil into the
container.
When cleaning surfaces of door and oven that comes together on closing the door, use only mild, nonabrasive soaps, or detergent applied with a sponge or soft cloth.
Please keep the wave guide area clean. Use soft damp cloth to clean it up when there is food splash residue on the wave guide area or the cavity.Failure to clean food residue may cause innocuous sparking or some smoke in the microwave cavity, discoloration of the cavity may also occur.
This appliance is for private household use only.
Some products such as whole eggs and sealed containers, for example, closed
glass jars are able to explode and should not be heated in this oven.

specifically designed to heat, cook or dry food. It is not designed for

Do not use this oven near water, for example, near a kitchen sink, in a wet
basement, near a swimming pool, or similar location.
Do not operate this oven if it has a damaged cord or plug, if it is not
working properly, or if it has been damaged or dropped.
Do not store or use this appliance outdoors.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having a grounding wire with a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded.
WARNING – Improper use of the grounding can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or serviceman if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. If it is necessary to use an extension cord, use only a 3-wire extension cord that has a 3-blade grounded plug, and 3-slot receptacle that will accept the plug on the appliance. The marked rating of the extension cord shall be equal to or greater than the electrical rating of the appliance.

Electric Shock Hazard: Improper use of the grounding can result in electric
shock. Do not plug into an outlet until appliance is properly installed and
grounded. 1. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce
the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
2. Longer cord sets or extension cords are available and may be used if care
is exercised in their use. WARNING 3. If a long cord or extension cord is
used: (1). The marked electrical rating of the cord set or
extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the
appliance. (2). The extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. (3).
The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter
top or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over

1. Operation of the microwave oven may cause interference to your radio, TV
or similar equipment.
2. When there is interference, it may be reduced or eliminated by taking the
following measures: (1).Clean door and sealing surface of the oven.
(2).Reorient the receiving antenna of radio or television. (3).Relocate the
microwave oven with respect to the receiver. (4).Move the microwave oven away
from the receiver. (5).Plug the microwave oven into a different outlet so that
microwave oven and receiver are on different branch circuits.
This device complies with part 18 of the FCC Rules.

UTENSILS
Personal Injury Hazard:
Tightly-closed utensils could explode. Closed
containers should be opened and plastic pouches
should be pierced before cooking.
See the instructions on “Materials you can use in

microwave oven ” or “Materials can not be used in microwave oven.”
There may be certain non-metallic utensils that are
not safe to use for microwaving. If in doubt, you can
test the utensil in question following the procedure
below.
Utensil Test: 1. Fill a microwave-safe container with 1 cup
of cold water (250ml) along with the utensil in question. 2. Cook on maximum
power for 1 min. 3. Carefully feel the utensil. If the empty utensil is warm,
do not use it for microwave cooking. 4. Do not exceed 1 min cooking time.

Follow manufacturer’s instructions. The bottom of browning dish must be at
least 3/16 inch (5mm) above the turntable. Incorrect usage may cause the
turntable to break.
Microwave-safe only. Follow manufacturer’s instructions. Do not use cracked or
chipped dishes.
Always remove lid. Use only to heat food until just warm. Most glass jars are
not heat resistant and may break.
Glassware
Heat-resistant oven glassware only. Make sure there is no metallic trim. Do not use cracked or chipped dishes.
Oven cooking bags
Follow manufacturer’s instructions. Do not close with metal tie. Make slits to allow steam to escape.
Use for shortterm cooking/warming only. Do not leave Paper plates and cups oven unattended while cooking.
Paper towels
Use to cover food for reheating and absorbing fat. Use with supervision for a short-term cooking only.
Parchment paper
Use as a cover to prevent splattering or a wrap for steaming.

SETTING UP YOUR OVEN
TURNTABLE INSTALLATION
Cleaning the cooking compartment and putting the turntable in place.
For new installations, make sure all packaging and shipping tape has been removed from the
turntable shaft.
Before using the appliance to prepare food for the first time, you will need to put the turntable
in place correctly. You must clean the cooking compartment and accessories.
How to put the turntable in place:
1. Place the turntable ring assembly into the recess in 1
the cooking compartment.
2. Place the glass tray on the turntable ring
assemblies . Fit the raised, curved lines in the center of the glass
3
tray bottom between the three spokes of the shaft.
Make sure that the glass tray engages in the turntable shaft in the center of the cooking
2
compartment floor. The rollers on the shaft should fit
inside the turntable bottom ridge.
NOTE
· Never use the appliance without the turntable. Make sure that it is properly
engaged. The turntable can turn clockwise or anti-clockwise.
· Never place the glass tray upside down. The glass tray should never be
restricted.
· Both glass tray and turntable ring assembly must always be used during
cooking.
· All food and containers of food are always placed on the glass tray for
cooking. · Never restrict the movement of the turntable. · If glass tray or
turntable ring assembly cracks or breaks, contact your nearest
authorized service center.

COUNTERTOP INSTALLATION
Remove all packing material and accessories. Examine the oven for any damage
such as dents or broken door. Do not install if oven is damaged. Cabinet:
Remove any protective film found on the microwave oven cabinet surface. Do not
remove the light brown waveguide cover that is attached to the oven cavity to
protect the magnetron.
INSTALLATION
1. Select a level surface that provide enough open space for the intake
and/or outlet vents.
a. The minimum installation height is 3.0 ft. b. Leave a minimum clearance of
3.0 inches on each side, 3.0 inches on top and 1.0 inch in the rear. c.Do not
remove the legs from the bottom of the oven. d.Blocking the intake and/or
outlet openings can damage the oven. e.Operation of microwave oven may cause
interference to your radio or TV reception.
Please place the oven as far away from radios and TV as possible.

2. Plug microwave oven into a standard household outlet. Be sure the voltage and the frequency is the same as the voltage and the frenquency on the rating label.

· Do not install oven over a range cooktop or other heat-producing appliance. If installed near or over a heat source, the oven could be damaged and the warranty would be avoid.

INSTRUCTION FOR USE
BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME
The appliance may produce unpleasant odors when it is used for the first time.
This section tells you what you need to do before using your microwave to
prepare food for the first time. Read the section entitled ” IMPORTANT SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS ” beforehand on page 3.
Before you can use your new appliance, you will need to put the turntable in
place correctly. You must also clean the cooking compartment and accessories.
NOTE
· Never use the appliance without the turntable. · Make sure that it is
properly engaged.The turntable can turn clockwise or
anti-clockwise.

Ten power levels are available.

Press “Cook Time” , “00:00” will display, then press number pads.
Press “Power Level” and “PL10” will

In cooking state of microwave, press “Power Level”, the current power will be displayed for 3 seconds.
Example : To cook the food with 50% microwave power for 15 minutes. · Press “Cook Time” , “00:00” will display.
· Press “1, 5, 0, 0” in order for 15:00 to appear in the display.
· Press “Power Level” , then press “5” to select 50% microwave power.
· Press ” START/+30Sec. ” to start cooking. Buzzer sounds once. The remaining
cooking time will display.

2. CLOCK SETTING
When the microwave oven is plugged into an outlet, “0:00” will display.
a Press “Clock” once, “00:00″ will appear in the display.

Press the number pads to enter the current clock time. For example, if the time is now 10:12, press ” 1, 0, 1, 2 ” in order.
c
Press “Clock” to finish clock setting, ” : ” will flash and the numbers will appear as a clock time in the display.
NOTE
· If the numbers entered are not within the range between 1:00 to 12:59, the
setting will not be accepted until valid numbers are entered.
· In the process of setting clock, if the ” STOP/Cancel ” pad is pressed or if
there is no operation within 1 minute, the display will automatically return
to the previous clock setting.
3. KITCHEN TIMER
a Press “Kitchen Timer” once, “00:00″ will appear in the display.
Press the number pads to enter the time amount. The
b maximum amount of time that can be entered is 99 minutes,
99 seconds.

Press ” START/+30Sec. ” to confirm setting, and the timer will start to count down.

When the time amount elapses, timer indicator will disappear. The oven will beep 5 times.
NOTE
· The Kitchen Timer setting is different from the Clock setting; it is simply
a timer.
· During the Kitchen Timer function, no cooking function can be set into
operation.
· Kitchen Timer amount cannot be increased by pressing ” START/+30Sec. ” . ·
Pressing ” STOP/Cancel ” will cancel the Timer countdown.
4. MICROWAVE COOK a Press “Cook Time” , “00:00” will appear in the display.

Press number pads to enter the cooking time. The maximum cooking time is 99 minutes, 99 seconds.
Press “Power Level”, PL10 will flash. Press

number pads 0 through 9 to select a different power level if desired. See the
POWER LEVEL table above.

Press ” START/+30Sec. ” to start cooking. The remaining cooking time will display.

NOTE
· In the process of setting, if the ” STOP/Cancel ” pad is pressed or if there is no operation within 1 minute, the oven will automatically return to display the clock.
5. ONE TOUCH START
Instant cooking at 100% power level and 1 to 6 minutes cooking time can be
started by pressing number pads 1 to 6.
a Press ” START/+30Sec. ” to increase the cooking time by 30
seconds with each press. The maximum cooking time is 99 minutes, 99 seconds.
Instant cooking at 100% power level and 30 seconds cooking

time can be started by pressing ” START/+30Sec. “. Each repeated press will increase cooking time by 30 seconds. The
maximum cooking time is 99 minutes, 99 seconds.
NOTE
· Time can also be added in 30 second increments by pressing ” START/+30Sec. ”
during Microwave Cooking, Time Defrost and Multi-stage Cooking.
· Time cannot be added by pressing ” START/+30Sec. ” during Weight Defrost and
Kitchen Timer functions.

6. CUSTOM DEFROST FUNCTION
Press “Custom Defrost”, “dEF1” and “DEF.” will appear in the display. Press the same pad repeatedly, “dEF2”, “dEF3”, “dEF1″ will display in order.

Press number pads to enter the weight to be defrosted.

Input the weight range between 0.1 to 6.0 Lbs. If the weight input is not between 0.1 to 6.0 Lbs, the input will be invalid.
The unit will not work until valid numbers are entered.

Press ” START/+30Sec. ” to start defrosting and the cooking time remaining will be displayed. “DEF.” indicator will flash.
NOTE
· When half of the defrosting time passes, the oven will beep once to remind you to turn over the food. Open the door to pause operation. Turn over food, close door and press ” START/+30Sec. ” to resume defrost cycle. If you do not open door to pause operation, the oven will continue the defrost cycle without interruption.
7. 1 LB DEFROST

Press “1lb Defrost” , “1.0”, “DEF.” and “Lbs” will appear in the display.

Press ” START/+30Sec. ” to start defrosting, “Lbs” will disappear. “DEF.” will flash, and the remaining defrost time will display.

8. SENSOR MENU
( Sensor Reheat, Frozen Pizza , Frozen Entrée , Potato,Rice,Veggie)
Press the pad for one of the Sensor Menu functions. An “SC-”
a number, “Auto” and “SENS.” will appear in the display.
Example: If “Rice” is pressed, “SC-5″ will display.
Press ” START/+30Sec. ” to start the sensor cooking process.
b Once the item has been sensed the remaining cooking time
will display. The oven beeps 5 times when cooking is finished.
NOTE
· For best sensor cooking results: a. The room temperature cannot be over 95°F
(35°C). b. The weight of food must be more than 4 Oz (110 g). c. The oven
cavity, glass tray and utensils must be dry.
· During cooking: a. The food can be covered, but the cover or lid must be
vented with a hole to allow steam to escape. b. Wait until the cooking time is
displayed and starts to count down. Opening the door or press ” STOP/Cancel ”
before the cooking time is displayed will cause an error in the sensor cooking
process. c. Once the cooking time displays and starts counting down, you can
open the door to mix or turn over food.
Example: Potato Sensor Pad
· Press “Potato” pad once, “SC-4”, “Auto” and “SENS.” will appear in the
display.
· Press ” START/+30Sec. ” to cook.
NOTE

bowl, and cover with vented lid or plastic wrap. After reheating, let food
stand for a few minutes. Plate of food – Arrange food on plate; top with
butter, gravy, etc. Cover with vented lid or plastic wrap. After reheating,
let food stand for a few minutes.

Example: 80% Power Level for 5 minutes followed by 60% Power Level for 10 minutes; saved as memory 3.
· Press “Favorite” 3 times; screen displays 3.
· Press “Cook Time” once, then press “5”, “0” and “0” to set first stage cook
time.
· Press “Power Level” once, then press “8” to choose 80% first stage cooking
power.
· Press “Cook Time” again, then press “1”, “0”, “0” and “0” to set second
stage cook time.

14. INQUIRING FUNCTION

When oven is cooking, press “Clock” for the time of day to appear for three seconds in the display.

When oven is cooking, press “Power Level” pad for cooking power to appear for three seconds in the display.
15. LOCK FUNCTION
To lock the microwave so that it cannot be operated by children or other
unintended users, press ” STOP/Cancel ” pad

If the clock has been set, the time of day and “Lock” will appear in the
display. Otherwise, only “Lock” will appear.

16. TURN ON/OFF THE BUZZER SOUND
a It is default that the buzzer sounds is open. In waiting state, long
pressing on number 8 for 3 seconds, it sounds a long beep, turns off the
sound.
b When the sounds turn off, long pressing on 8 for 3 seconds, it
sounds a long beep and the sound turns on.
c In the sound off state, all the buttons has no beep when they are
pressed, including the ending cooking sounds is turn off too.
NOTA
· All models has mute function and energy-saved function. This function can work under lock function too.
17. ENERGY SAVER MODE
In standby mode, press the ” STOP/Cancel ” once (less than 3
a seconds to avoid starting the child lock function ) to enter the
Energy Saver mode.

In child-locked mode, press the ” STOP/Cancel ” once (less than 3 seconds) and release to enter the Energy Saver Mode.

Above operation is the only way to start the Energy Saver mode.
d The Energy Saver mode works only if the door is closed.
18. COOKING END REMINDER FUNCTION
The oven will beep five times to alert the user that cooking time has ended.
“End” will display. The time of day will display by opening the door or
pressing ” STOP/Cancel ” pad.

CLEANING
With good care and cleaning, your appliance will retain its appearance and remain fully functioning for a long time to come. We will explain here how you should correctly care for and clean your appliance.
WARNING
· Scratched glass in the appliance door may develop into a crack. Do not use a
glass scraper, sharp or abrasive cleaning aids or detergents.
· The surface of the appliance may become damaged if it is not cleaned
properly. Microwave energy may escape. Clean the appliance on a regular basis,
and remove any food remnants immediately.
· Do not immerse the appliance in water or clean under a jet of water.
Cleaning agent To ensure that the different surfaces are not damaged by using
the wrong cleaning agent, observe the information below. Wash new sponge
cloths thoroughly before use.

Remove splashes and patches of limescale, grease, starch and albumin
immediately. Corrosion can form under these patches or splashes. Do not use

APPLIANCE CAVITY
Hot soapy water or vinegar solution: Clean using a dish cloth and then dry
with a soft cloth. Do not use oven spray or any other aggressive oven cleaners
or abrasive materials. Scouring pads, rough sponges and pan cleaners are also
unsuitable. These items scratch the surface. Allow the interior surfaces to
dry completely.
RECESS IN THE COOKING COMPARTMENT
Damp cloth: Water must not be allowed to run into the appliance through the
turntable drive. Dry the turntable drive with a cloth.

Hot soapy water: When placing the turntable back into its recess, it must
engage properly.
