  5. Connect the red wire to the + terminal on the battery and the black wire to the – terminal on the battery. Place the battery in the battery compartment.
  6. Install the Recharge Circuit Board by aligning the 8-pin connector and the PCB edges. Press the circuit board down until the pins are fully engaged and the circuit board is sitting on the mounting areas.
  7. Position the battery and route the wires accordingly.
  8. Re-install the battery compartment cover.
  9. Connect the AC Adapter plug to the Input Jack and to the proper AC supply.
  10. The balance can be used on AC power immediately after the battery is installed. Allow the battery to charge for 12 hours before using the balance on battery power.
  11. While under rechargeable battery operation, the Battery Icon will be lit. When the AC Adapter is charging, the battery icons will blink. Once the battery icon stops blinking, the battery is fully charged.
  12. When there is approximately 30 minutes of power remaining, the battery icon will blink on/off every 0.5. When the shutoff voltage is reached, the display will alternately flash “Batt” and “LowJ” for 15 seconds, then the balance will shut down. The balance will not power up if the shutdown level voltage is detected.
  13. Whenever possible, use AC power as this will increase the life of the battery. Battery life is directly related to the number of discharge cycles it experiences.
  14. The number of hours that the balance can run on the battery depends on many factors. Backlight, IR Sensors, and Interface Options will reduce the hours before a recharge is needed. For optimum battery life, turn these features off. Under average conditions, the battery should last around 100 hours before needing a charge.
