Product Information
The ZAflow inlet guide grille is a component designed for centrifugal fans manufactured by ZIEHL-ABEGG SE. It is available in different models, including ZAflow S145, S198, M233, M295, M375, M468, and M558. The ZAflow S145 and S198 models are compliant with DIN EN ISO 13857 Table 4 and provide contact protection according to Table 1. However, the ZAflow M233, M295, M375, M468, and M558 models do not offer contact protection as specified in DIN EN ISO 13857.
Safety Instructions
- Ensure that the inlet guide grille is properly fitted following the safety, installation, and connection instructions provided in the manual.
- Failure to install the inlet guide grille correctly may result in damage for which ZIEHL-ABEGG accepts no liability.
- Protect the inlet guide grille from dirt and weather until the final installation.
- Do not remove the inlet guide grille once installed to prevent injury from objects that may fly out of the intake area.
Product Usage Instructions
Assembly of ZAflow S145 and S198:
To assemble the ZAflow S145 or S198 inlet guide grille, follow these steps:
- Take appropriate measures to prevent chip formation under the mounting hole.
- Refer to Table 1 for the specific dimensions and attachment accessories.
- Use the corresponding art. no. of the inlet guide grille along with the recommended attachment accessories for installation.
- Ensure the recess area dimensions (H, H) are as specified in the table.
Assembly of ZAflow M233, M295, M375, M468, and M558:
To assemble the ZAflow M233, M295, M375, M468, or M558 inlet guide grille,
follow these steps:
- Refer to the model range (up to BG 560) or ST 8.0 for compatibility.
- Use washers with the minimum required diameter (M6 and ST 6.3 washers min. 18 mm diameter, ST 8.0 washers min. 24 mm diameter).
- Do not use mechanical bolt locking devices that can damage the screw connection tabs on the inlet guide grille. Only chemical bolt locking devices are allowed.
- Refer to Table 2 for the specific dimensions of the ZAflow M233, M295, M375, M468, and M558 models.

ZAflow inlet guide grille for centrifugal fans
Application

Use as a guard grille, provided the required safety distances are maintained. The certified contact protection supplied for ZIEHL-ABEGG SE fans is designed in accordance with DIN EN ISO 13857 Table 4 (14 years upwards). The contact protection function only applies to the ZAflow S145 and S198 as set out in Table
Attention! The ZAflow M233, M295, M375, M468 and M558 inlet guide grilles (Table 2) do not perform a contact protection function as specified in DIN EN ISO 13857! -
The inlet guide grille can reduce the noise produced by the fan in unfavourable flow
Safety instructions
- This document is only applicable in conjunction with the assembly instructions for the device on which this inlet guide grille is fitted. The information concerning safety, installation and connection described there must be followed!
- Before installation and start-up, read this assembly instructions carefully to ensure correct use!
- Proper use is exclusively in combination with fans approved by ZIEHL-ABEGG. Any other use is classed as improper and ZIEHL-ABEGG accepts no liability for any resulting damage.
- Be aware of any damage to the packaging or the inlet guide Use is not allowed if there is any damage.
- Store the inlet guide grille in the original packaging in a dry area protected from the weather and protect it from dirt and weather until final installation.
- Before working on the fan, this must be disconnected from the power supply and secured against switching back on!
- Before the first switch-on, remove any items that may be present (borings, screws and other foreign objects) from the intake area – risk of injury from any objects that may fly out!
Compliance with the following specifications also serves to ensure product safety. Should the specified information, in particular with regard to general safety, transportation, storage, assembly, operating conditions, commissioning, service, maintenance, cleaning and disposal/recycling not be observed, safe operation of the product may not be guaranteed and can potentially pose a risk of death or injury to users and/or third parties. For this reason, deviations from the specifications below can lead to the loss of legal materials defect liability as well as to liability of the buyer for the product rendered unsafe by deviation from the specifications.

When using the recommended attachment accessories, observe the tightening torque of 5 Nm. This tightening torque applies when using the screw bosses. The screw bosses should be pre- bored with a diameter of 3 mm (position is determined by the centre marks on the inlet nozzle). -

When using the recommended attachment accessories, observe the tightening torque of 1 Nm. This tightening torque applies when using the prepared screw bosses. -
Other combinations
Since the specific screw used varies depending on the customer unit, the screw used must be checked for each individual situation. A screw connection appropriate for plastic must be ensured.
In certain cases, appropriate recesses must be made for the combination of ZAflow and pressure tapping point in the outer area of the ZAflow using appropriate Suggested areas are visually highlighted on the bottom of the ZAflow (see “Recess area” figure below).

Recess area
Inlet guide grille ZAflow M233, M295, M375, M468 and M558
- The inlet guide grilles are secured using M6 screws or with sheet metal screws ST 3 on the ER model range (up to BG 560) / ST 8.0 (BG630 and 710).
- The tightening torque for all ZAflow M233, M295, M375, M468 and M558 models is 2 Nm.
- Due to the surface pressure occurring, the screws should be fitted on top of flat U-washers with the largest possible diameter (M6 and ST 3 washers min. 18 mm diameter, ST 8.0 washers min. 24 mm diameter).
Attention! Do not use any mechanical bolt locking devices (e.g. detent edged washers) that damage the screw connection tabs on the inlet guide grille. Only chemical bolt locking devices may be used.
