Introduction
The i-box Tempo all-in-one compact Hi-Fi system offers a total of five playing modes: FM radio, AM radio, CD player, AUX In and Bluetooth. All of which sound great when played through the 20W total power output speakers with bass reflector. The all-in-one unit comes in a solid, elegant wooden housing with fabric speaker grilles and delivers a rich, clear sound with surprisingly deep bass notes. A dedicated remote gives you complete control of your sounds, including instant recall of up to 50 presets of your favorite stations – 30 FM radio presets and 20 AM radio presets.

Caring for your Sound System

Important safety information. Please read these instructions fully before operating your Tempo.

Do not place naked flame sources, such as lit candles on or near the unit.
Do not expose to dripping or splashed liquids. Objects filled with liquids, such as vases, must not be placed close or on the unit.
The unit should not be exposed to direct sunlight, very high or low temperatures, moisture, strong magnetic fields, microwaves or dusty environments.
Always leave sufficient space around the unit for ventilation, do not cover.
Do not use abrasives or solvents to clean this product. Use only a clean, damp, soft, cloth.
Never attempt to insert wires, pins or other such objects into the vents or openings of the unit.
Do not disassemble or modify the unit, there are no user-serviceable parts.
If the unit is damaged in any way or malfunctions do not use. Consult a qualified service engineer.
Treat CDs with care they are easily damaged. Use a soft dry cloth to gently remove any dust or dirt as these can affect the performance of the mechanism and the laser pickup of your CD player.
It is recommended that a cleaning CD (not supplied) is used at regular intervals to clean the CD pickup.
Always use the power adaptor supplied; if you need to replace it, make sure the replacement is of high quality and has the same power rating (12V=2A).

Please dispose of this electronic item appropriately. Do not discard to unsorted household waste at the end of its life. Take it to a collection centre for the recycling of electrical equipment. Please  check with your local authority for recycling advice.

1. Controlling Your Tempo

You can control your Tempo using the keys on the remote control 13-34 (shown in bold) or the controls on the front panel of the Tempo 5-12.

2. Powering Your Tempo
To power your Tempo, plug the power adaptor (supplied) into a wall socket and the jack plug into the DC IN port on the back of the Tempo e.

3. Standby Mode
Short press the<‘.> STANDBY key (13 RC), or short press the STANDBY/MODE/ VOLUME dial (5), to switch on your Tempo in the last mode used. Short press the<‘.> STANDBY key (13 RC), or long press the STANDBY/MODE/ VOLUME dial (5), to switch your Tempo to standby mode.

4. Audio Mode Selection
Press the MODE key (14 RC) (5) repeatedly to switch between modes – FM, AM, CD, AUX In or Bluetooth mode.

5. Setting the Time

  1. In standby mode, short press the TIME key (15 RC) or hold the TIME/DIM button (6) on the front panel of your Tempo.
  2. Short press the next/previous keys (28/26 RC) (77/7) or rotate the TUNE dial (72) to select the time display format. You can choose between 12H and 24H. Press the ENTER key (27 RC) (72) to select your chosen format.
  3. Short press the next/previous keys (28/26 RC) (71/7) or rotate the TUNE dial (7 2) to select the hour. Press the ENTER key (27 RC) (72) to confirm.
  4. Short press the next/previous keys (28/26 RC) (17/7) or rotate the TUNE dial (7 2) to select the minutes. Press the ENTER key (27 RC) (72) to confirm.

6. FM Radio Mode
In FM mode the LED screen displays the frequency of the station playing.

6.1 FM Manual Tune/ Scan

In FM mode hold SCAN (17 RC) (9) to scan for available stations. The found stations will automatically be saved to the preset list. Long press the next/ previous keys (28/26 RC) (71/7) to find the next or previous station.
Short press the next/previous keys (28/26 RC) (71/7) or rotate the TUNE dial (72) on the front panel to fine tune the frequency.

6.2 Saving FM Radio Presets

You can save the station playing to one of the 30 FM presets. Long press the PRESET key (PSET 16 RC) (8) and then short press the next/previous keys (28/26 RC) (71 /7) or rotate the TUNE dial (7 2) to scroll to an empty preset position, press ENTER (27 RC) (72) to store.

6.3 Replacing FM Radio Presets

You can replace a saved preset with a new station. Find the station frequency you want, long press the PRESET key (PSET 16 RC) (8) and then use (28/26 RC) (77/7) or rotate the TUNE dial (72) to scroll to the preset you want to change, press ENTER (27 RC) (7 2) to store.

6.4 Playing FM Radio Presets
Short press the PRESET key (PSET 16 RC) (8) and use (28/26 RC) (71/7) or rotate the TUNE dial (12) to scroll to a stored preset, press ENTER (27 RC) (7 2) to play.
You can use the remote to play a stored preset. Short press the PRESET key (PSET 16 RC), then using the number pad 0-9 keys (32 RC) to input the preset number, press ENTER (27 RC) to play

7. AM Radio Mode

In AM mode the LED screen displays the frequency of the station playing.

7.1 AM Manual Tune/ Scan

Long press the next/previous keys (28/26 RC) (11/7) to find the next or previous station. 7.2 Saving AM Radio Presets

7.3 Replacing AM Radio Presets
You can replace a saved preset with a new station. Find the station frequency you want, long press the PRESET key (PSET 16 RC) (8) and then use (28/26 RC) (11/7) or rotate the TUNE control (12) to scroll to the preset you want to change, press ENTER (27 RC) (12) to store.

7.4 Playing AM Radio Presets
Short press the PRESET key (PSET 16 RC) (8) and use (28/26 RC) (11/7) or rotate the TUNE control (12) to scroll to a stored preset, press ENTER (27 RC) (12) to play.
You can use the remote to play a stored preset. Press the PRESET key (PSET 16 RC), then using the number pad 0-9 keys (32 RC) to input the preset number, press ENTER (27 RC) to play.

8.CD Mode

Short press the open/close CD tray key (24 RC) (10) and place a CD into the tray. The display will show “OP” to indicate that the CD tray is open.
Short press the open/close CD tray key (24 RC) (10) again and the tray will close. The display will show “CL” to indicate that the CD tray is closing. Once the tray is closed the CD will start playing. The display will then show the timecode of the current track being played.

8.1 Playback Controls

Below are the playback options when in CD mode, you can use the remote control on the controls on the front panel of your Tempo.

9. AUX IN Mode

Connect any audio device to the 3.5mm AUX IN socket G on the back of your Tempo. Short press the MODE key (14 RC) (5) to select the AUX mode on your Tempo. Select, play and control audio playback on the source device, adjust the volume on both the source and the Tempo for optimum sound.

10. Bluetooth Mode

  1. Short press the MODE key (14 RC) (5) to enter Bluetooth mode, the display will flash when it is in pairing mode. The Tempo will search for devices and will appear in your devices’ Bluetooth menu as “i-box Tempo FM”.

  2. On your device select “i-box Tempo FM” and when connected to the Tempo, the display will stop flashing.

  3. The Tempo will automatically search for the last connected device, if the last connected device is not
    available, the Tempo will search for other devices.

  4. You can short press the PAIR key (18 RC) on the remote to connect and disconnect known devices to the Tempo. Long press the ►II play/pause button (9) on the front panel to disconnect your device.

10.1 Playback Controls

You can use your device for playback options, or you can use your Tempo. Below are the playback controls for your Tempo, and remote control.

11. Sleep Function

The sleep function allows you to set a certain amount of time after which your Tempo will enter standby mode automatically. This is ideal if you want to set your Tempo to switch off automatically after you have fallen asleep. You can set the sleep function from 10 minutes to 90 minutes in 10-minute intervals.

11.1 Setting the Sleep Function with the Remote Control

11.2 Setting the Sleep Function on the Front Panel

  1. Long press the SLEEP/ENTER/TUNE control (12), then rotate the SLEEP/ENTER/TUNE dial (12) to choose the amount of sleep time. Short press the SLEEP/ENTER/TUNE control (12) to confirm your choice. When the sleep function is in use, “SLEEP” will be shown at the bottom left of the display.
  2. To turn off the sleep function, long press the SLEEP/ENTER/TUNE control (12), then rotating the dial (12) go to the ‘OFF’ selection, then press the SLEEP/ENTER/TUNE control (12) to confirm your choice. When the sleep function is not in use, “SLEEP” will not be shown in the bottom left side of the display.

12. Display Brightness
Short press the DIM key (23 RC) or the TIME/DIM button (6) on the front panel repeatedly to change the brightness of the display screen.
