Product Usage Instructions
Determining Installation
The Orion Ion Generator can be installed either internally or externally in
most HVAC systems. External mounting is recommended when there is metal return
ducting. Installing the Orion before any system filtration ensures that
charged particulate matter will collect into the HVAC filter. The final
installation point is determined by the installing contractors, considering
all installation and equipment variables.
Preparation for External Mounting
- Attach the external plate.
- Rotate the probes 90 degrees.
- Attach the bracket.
Preparation for Internal Mounting
- Note the position of the probes.
- Attach the magnet to the Orion using the supplied 10-32-1/4 screw. Alternatively, use the supplied self-tapping screws for permanent mounting.
Use the external adapter plate when installing the Orion system to metal ductwork. Attach the plate after rotating the probes 90 degrees. Secure it using the supplied self-tapping 10-32-1/4 screw. This ensures there will be no air leakage from the ductwork after installation. Note the location of the probes for proper airflow. Airflow should pass over both probes simultaneously for optimum performance.
Installation Procedure
External Mounting:
- Disconnect the main power to the HVAC system (turn applicable breakers off).
- Determine a location on the duct and mark the location of both probes using a pencil.
- Drill two 1/4″ diameter holes.
- Mount the Orion using the supplied screws.
- Attach the power cord.
- Attach the leads of the power cord to a 24 Va. transformer (polarity is not a concern).
- Restore power.
- Ensure that the white power indicator on the front of the label is illuminated.
Internal Mounting:
- Disconnect the main power to the HVAC system (turn applicable breakers off).
- Remove the access door to the equipment.
- Mount the Orion using either the magnet or supplied screws.
- Attach the power cord.
- Attach the leads of the power cord to a 24 Va. transformer (polarity is not a concern).
- Restore power.
- Ensure that the white power indicator on the front of the label is illuminated.
Note : Always follow safety precautions and consult a trained technician if needed.

Determining Installation
The Orion Ion Generator is uniquely designed to be installed either internally or externally in most HVAC systems. External mounting is typically done when metal return ducting is present. Installing the Orion before any system filtration ensures that any charged particulate matter will collect into the HVAC filter. The Orion system may also be installed internally on most furnace and air-conditioning sys- terms. The installing contractors tconsider all installation and equipment variableswhen determining the final installation point.
Preparation for external mounting only:
Use the external adapter plate when installing the Orion system to metal ductwork. First, rotate the probes 90 degrees. Use the supplied self-tapping 10-32-1/4” screw. Attaching the plate ensures that there will be no air leakage from the duct work after the installation.
Installation Procedure
- Disconnect main power to the HVAC system(turn applicable breakers off)
- Determine a location on the duct, use a pencil to mark the location of both probes on the ductwork.
- Drill 2 1/4 holes. 4. Mount the Orion with supplied screws 5. Attach power cord
- Attach the leads of the power cord to a 24 Va. transformer (polarity is not a concern). 7. Restore power
- The Orion has a white power indicator on the front of the label (ensure that the LED is illuminated).
Preparation for internal mounting only:
Important! Note the position of the probes
Attach the magnet to the Orion with the supplied 10-32-1/4” screw. You can also use supplied self-tapping screws to permanently mount the Orion.
Installation procedure:
- Disconnect the main power to the HVAC system(turn applicable breakers off).
- Remove access door to the equipment
- Mount the Orion either with the magnet or with supplied screws
- Attach the power cord.
- Attach the leads of the power cord to a 24 transformer (polarity is not a concern).
- Restore power 8. The Orion has a white power indicator on the front of the label (ensure that the LED is illuminated).
IMPORTANT: Probes should be a minimum of 1-1/2 inches from any metal.
Electrical Requirements
- This product operates on 24 VAC
- It is recommended to connect to a dedicated transformer.
- If using the optional wall plug-in transformer connect only to the 110/120 VAC circuit.
Maintenance
