Quill Productions DOC 150 Spring Trap
Product Information
- The DOC Spring Trap is a legally approved trap designed to catch stoats under both English and Scottish law. It is a highly powerful trap that has been specially engineered to address safety concerns associated with traditional traps. The trap is enclosed within a durable and weather-resistant plastic box, impregnated with fish powder to attract vermin.
- The Quill DOC Trap Box, which contains the DOC 150 trap, ensures the safety of both operators and the general public. The box is equipped with capped screws on the lid, preventing unauthorized access and potential harm. The handle on the side of the box indicates whether the trap is set or triggered, allowing for quick and easy checking.
- It is important to comply with current legislation and use the DOC Trap with the correct baffles to ensure humaneness, selectivity, and safety.
- WARNING: The DOC Spring Trap is extremely powerful and should be considered very dangerous during both the setting and set states. It is strongly advised to keep tunnels away from small children and vulnerable pets. It is recommended not to wear gloves when setting or unsetting the trap for a secure grip.
Product Usage Instructions
- Open the lid of the trap tunnel by removing a capped screw using an Allen key. One capped screw should be left without removal.
- Position yourself behind the upright part of the trap. Hold the tunnel down with one hand or knee while pulling up on the wire loop with the other hand to raise the moving jaw of the trap. Hook your thumb over the side of the tunnel nearest to you to ensure a secure grip.
- As the moving jaw is raised, it will catch momentarily on the upper end of the hanging trigger arm, causing the lower end of the arm to flick forward. Drop the moving jaw back down onto the treadle plate.
- Take the R Clip and secure it on the outside of the box through the handle of the trap.
- Secure the trap with an R clip as shown in the provided picture.
- Once you are satisfied with the bait’s position, remove the R Clip and place it within the trap, ensuring it faces away from the trap to avoid interference.
- Place the lid back into position and use an Allen key to secure the capped screw. The handle will disappear if the trap is set off.

About the DOC Trap & Quill DOC Trap Box
- We have produced a purposely moulded plastic box to contain the DOC 150 which has been impregnated with fish powder to make it more alluring to catch vermin. The box is built to last and is made to be extremely robust and unaffected by weather whilst fulfilling all legal requirements with the correct placement of the baffles.
- The main problem with currently approved traps is their awesome power as they can be extremely dangerous for the operator to set or indeed if the general public were to inadvertently touch them. The Quill Doc Trap box has addressed these safety issues and has capped screws on the lid of the box so the general public cannot get in to the box and be harmed by the traps.
- Pictured in the lower right hand side photograph, you can see the handle showing through the side of the box, this means the trap has not gone off but is set. Once the handle disappears, it means the trap has gone off. This feature allows for quick and easy checking of the traps.
- It is important that the DOC Trap is used in compliance with the restrictions under current legislation. It is therefore essential that these traps are used with the correct baffles as is crucial to the humaneness, selectivity and safety of the trap.
WARNING
- In order to kill small mammals humanely, these traps are extremely powerful. They should be considered VERY DANGEROUS both once set, and during the setting process.
- We strongly advise that tunnels should never be set where small children or vulnerable pets could have access to them. To ensure a safe grip when setting and unsetting these traps, we recommend that you do NOT wear gloves.
Setting Instructions
- Open the lid of the trap tunnel by removing a capped screw using an Allen key (pictured without one capped screw). Swing the lid to one side once the screw has been removed.
- Position yourself behind the upright part of the trap. Hold the tunnel down with one hand or one knee while pulling up on the wire loop with the other hand to raise the moving jaw of the trap. Once the draw is raised sufficiently to hook the thumb of the hand over the side of the tunnel nearest to you, you can bring in the other hand to help, but keep both thumbs firmly hooked over the tunnel side to ensure you don’t catch your hands should they slip.
- As the moving jaw is raised, it will catch momentarily on the upper end of the hanging trigger arm, causing the lower end of the arm to flick forwards. Drop back down onto the treadle plate. Take the R Clip and secure it on the outside of the box through the handle of the trap.
- Secure the trap with an R clip as pictured.
- Once you are happy with the position of the bait, remove the R Clip and place it within the trap as shown. Make sure you position the R Clip facing away from the trap to ensure it does not get in the way of the trap.
- Place the lid back into position, using an Allen-key screw to secure the capped screw. The handle will disappear if the trap is set off.
REMOVING THE ANIMAL FROM TRIGGERED TRAP
Follow steps 1 – 3 above. It is really important that you make sure you
have secured the trap with the R Clip in place on the outside of the box as
pictured in photograph 3 to ensure the trap can not accidentally be triggered
the operators hands are clear of the mechanism.
