INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

LLOYD S ‎LC-1192 A19 WiFi Bulb 1

The Quill Trail Feeder is designed for fast efficient feeding of large numbers of birds using your ATV, quad or pick up. Please ensure you follow these instructions carefully to gain the maximum productivity from your Quill Trail Feeder. Quill Trail Feeder pictured above with additional galvanised trailer (sold separately). When unhitching the Trailer, please take care to ensure that the feeder doesn’t tip backwards which could cause damage.

TRANSPORT
It is highly recommended to anchor the feeder in to the back of your vehicle, this can be by rope, chains etc. Driving off suddenly or rough ground may cause the feeder to slide out the back. The feeder can be bolted to a wooden pallet for easy removal from the vehicle with pallet forks.

SAFETY
Your Trail Feeder with hold a maximum of 400kgs on flat ground. On uneven or sloped ground, it is advised to load under the maximum limit for safety. Please be aware that the weight of the feeder is constantly shifting at all times as the feed will gravitate towards the back of the feeder. It is the responsibility of the driver to fill to an appropriate level for the type of terrain.

STORAGE
Although storing feeder in the trail feeder is not a problem, unfortunately vermin such as rats will nibble teh brushes if there is feeder inside. Always store away from rodent-prone areas and make sure to empty and clean the Quill Trail Feeder at the end of each season. (If rodents are nearby, always keep the top cover and most importantly the metal slide in place to protect the brushes.) It is not necessary to always have the plastic cover fitted, but it is advisable if it is raining or there is a possibility of rain when you are out feeding. Spare brushes are available to buy separately. Your new Quill Trail Feeder will give you many more years of feeding when looked after. After short periods of inactivity it is advised to dry store your trail feeder in a barn or shed.

CONNECTING THE SPEED CONTROLLER
It is essential to keep the speed controller stored in a dry place at all times to prevent damage. Care should be taken to avoid unnecessary excess moisture on the motor as it is an electrical part. To connect the trail feeder to the speed controller insert the trail feeder plug directly into the DIN socket at the back of the speed controller. The speed controller is fitted with a male combination plug. With the red collar on this will fit into most vehicles power sockets (if fitted). If your vehicle is fitted with a later DIN 4165 accessory socket then remove the red collar from the plug by twisting it. Alternatively if your vehicle has no power sockets you can either wire into the vehicles electrics directly (min 15A fused supply) or attach a separate battery taking care to observe correct polarity. It is quite normal to hear a humming noise from the motor during operation.

RED = POSITIVE
BLACK = NEGATIVE

The speed controller will generally alter the forward driving speed of the motor and brushes to allow for a lighter covering of feed on the ground. The speed at which you drive your ATV/ quad will also impact on the covering of the ground.

Please note: It is possible to further adjust the amount of feed dispensed over the brushes manually, via a feed restriction plate. Please call us if you feel you feel this requires adjustment as usually factory settings suffice.
With the absence of a speed controller the Trail Feeder will always run at maximum speed. The motor is a 100 RPM motor for 12 volt supply.

Before filling with feed, power on the feeder, making sure no brushes are running so that the grain will cascade towards you. The grain must go over the brushes, not under! Your Trail Feeder brushes are tightened onto a threaded metal rod. If the polarities are wrong, it is possible the bar will unwind from the motor. If this happens, immediately turn off the power and wire the correct way.
