EcoNet Controls SmartLife Smart App
Note:
- Your device must be on a Wifi network that utilizes the 2.4 GHz band. This band has much better range than the 5GHz band which is why it is used. Dual Band SSIDs will work.
- WiFi WPA3 security is not supported, please use WPA2. Use a guest network if required.
Smart Life Install and Configuration

Locate the Smart Life Smart app in the App store on your device.

Read and Agree to the User Agreement and Privacy Policy

Follow the directions to create a user account. Take note of your password.

Once Registered, Log In using your credentials.
Add your Bulldog into the Smart Life App

Select Add Device or tap the (+) symbol.

Allow Precise Location services so that Smart Life can find your WiFi Network and search for nearby devices.

Selecting Approximate location may result in an error
Your Bulldog will be added via Bluetooth

You will likely see a message to turn on Bluetooth. This comes up even if Bluetooth is turned on but “Nearby Devices” is not allowed.

Tap on ‘Turn on Bluetooth’ to allow Smart Life to use Bluetooth to help the Smart Life App to locate the Smart Life enabled Bulldog controller.

Notice there are sections for “Nearby Devices” and “Bluetooth.

Double check Nearby Devices is enabled in the App permissions in your device settings and Bluetooth is turned on
Put your Bulldog into Pairing Mode

On the Bulldog Controller, if the Blue Wifi Pairing LED is not flashing, hold down the Valve Open/Close for 6-8 seconds then release it. The Blue LED should start flashing momentarily.

Once in pairing mode, if permissions are all set correctly, your Smart Life enabled Bulldog soon will show up as a discovered device. Tap on it to add it.

First the add device screen will show, then you will be asked for your WiFi information.

Your Phone must be connected to the network that you want your Smart Life enabled Bulldog to use. This info will be populated for you.

Enter in your WiFi password, be careful of Upper Case / Lower Case and be sure there are no spaces.

Wait for the Add Device process to finish.

When the device is added successfully, tap the pencil icon on the right to rename it to something meaningful. Example: Bulldog Water Valve.

You can now monitor and Open/Close your Smart Life enabled Bulldog from anywhere on your phone or tablet.
Creating Notifications for your Smart Life enabled Bulldog

Smart Life will recommend Scenes for your Bulldog.
You can ignore these suggestions. -
Tap the grey (>) symbol then the (x) symbol if present.

Tap Create Scene or use the (+) in the top right corner.

We want to know when the valve closes so select ‘When device status changes

Select your Bulldog Device. It will appear with the name you chose when you paired it to the App. Example: Bulldog Water Valve

Currently Smart Life treats your Bulldog like a switch. In the next screen tap “Switch 1”

We want to know when the Bulldog turns off so tap on the OFF option.

The next screen should have the ‘If’ part populated. Now we need to tell Smart Life to send you a notification. Tap on the “Then” option.

From the options that pop up, select Send Notification

Right now, your free account supports the first option “Message Center”

Your scene should look like this: If [Your Valve] Switch 1 OFF Then Message Center On

Tap Save then Yes to enable your Scene.

Test your scene by turning your Bulldog Off.

If you don’t see your notifications, check that notifications are turned on for Smart Life in your phone settings.
