Operating Principle
According to the industry standard requirements of relevant test methods of cold filter plugging point, put the test tube with the sample into the instrument cold bath, and cool it under the specified conditions. When the temperature control system of the instrument reaches the temperature set by the test, compare it with the value of the standard thermometer. When their readings are the same, the sample is sucked into the suction tube through the standard filter screen of controllable suction filter.Repeat this step every time the temperature of the sample is lower than the previous temperature by 1℃, until the amount of wax crystallization in the sample is enough to stop the flow or reduce the flow rate, record the temperature when the tube is filled with sample for more than 60s or the sample cannot return to the test cup completely as the cold filter plugging point of the sample, and the test is completed.

-
Adjustment of Suction Filter
-
Turn the negative pressure adjusting knob left to the maximum without turning on power switch.
-
Connect Ø 2 silica gel tube with the matched medical syringe, draw clean water and inject it slowly from the water injection port until the water level on both sides of the
The U-shaped tube (the concave plane under the water surface) is at the position of 100 mmH2O.
Note: if the water level on both sides is different, connect the equipped syringe and the silicone tube, slowly insert the silicone tube from the “water injection port” into the
U-shaped tube until the water level at the other end of the U-shaped tube is exposed at the silica tube port, then use the syringe to pump out the air in the silicone tube, and pull out the syringe push rod to keep the air pressure at both ends of the U-shaped tube consistent. Then slowly pull out the silicone tube, observe the water level and add water, repeat for several times until the water level requirements are met. -
Connect pieces with silicone tube as shown in Figure 4.1.
-
Note: The connection between the suction filter assembly and the suction tube is hard connection, so they should be connected carefully to prevent the suction tube from being damaged.
-
Installed at the bottom of the suction filter assembly, the filter is installed with filter screen, and the filter screen shall be kept clean.
-
Connect the silicone tube at the left end as shown in Figure 4.1 with the connector at the upper right end of the suction filter.
-
Turn on the power switch of the suction filter and adjust the negative pressure adjusting knob so that the pressure difference of the U-tube differential pressure gauge is 1961Pa (200 mmH2O) at the position of 200 mmH2O on the scale.
-
Test Steps
Note: Take – 34℃ as an example to illustrate the test method. -
Place Ø35×3 O-shaped ring around the test cup 25 mm from the bottom of the test cup.
-
Put 45mL filtered sample into a clean and dry test cup to the scale line.
-
Plug the plug with the thermometer and tube (connected with the filter in advance) into the test cup containing 45-mL sample, keep the thermometer vertical with the bottom of the thermometer 1.5mm ± 0.2mm away from the bottom of the test cup, and place the filter vertically and exactly at the bottom of the test cup. If the expected cold filter plugging point is below – 30℃, a low-range thermometer is used and cannot be replaced during the test. The mercury bulb of the thermometer should not contact the side of the test cup or the filter.
-
To set the test temperature, click the set key and SV display window will flicker, set the required test temperature, and then press the set key to save the setting, that is, set the cold bath temperature at – 34℃.
-
Enter the timing setting menu of the suction filter, and set the test timing to 60s.(5)Place the felt pad on the bottom of the cold bath at the cold filter plugging point, and place the test cup in the cold bath vertically.
-
Support the return bottle with a wooden fixed frame to make the return bottle tilt at a certain angle, and the end connected with the suction filter should be higher than the other end. To prevent the sample from being drawn into the pump.
-
Start the refrigeration switch of the instrument, and the refrigeration system of the instrument starts to work. When the temperature of the cold bath reaches – 34℃ and keeps at – 34℃ ± 0.5℃, press the timing key of the suction filter, and the suction filter starts to work, and the timer starts to count down. The suction filter will
stop working when the timer reaches the set time (e.g., 1min). -
If the first suction filtration exceeds the scale mark line of the tube, the test result will be abandoned, set the test temperature to – 33℃ and repeat the previous test. Until the suction filtration is close to the scale line of the suction tube, the value is the cold filtration plugging point value of the sample.
-
If the sample is far away from the scale line during the first suction filtration, repeat the previous operation as the sample temperature decreases by 1℃ until the sample is close to the scale line of the tube at 60s. Record the point as the cold filtration plugging point for the test.
Judgment and Treatment of Common Faults
Precautions
-
If there are obvious faults in the instrument, the user should contact with the manufacturer in time and is prohibited from opening to repair it by himself or herself.
-
If there is no display when the instrument is started up, please check whether the fuse on the three-core power cord port at the back of the instrument is intact or not; if not, you should replace the fuse.
Note: The instrument shall be provided with one backup fuse when delivery; at the position as shown in Figure 8.1 above, only the fuse holder needs to be taken out and can be replaced. -
In case of failure of the instrument, the power supply shall be cut off immediately. After the temperature of cold bath of the instrument returns to normal, it is necessary for professional personnel to repair it and remove the failure before it can be used, otherwise, there will be accidents.
-
Keep the return bottle in the vertical position during the whole test to prevent the sample from being sucked into the suction filter and damaging the internal components.
-
Observe the liquid level of U-shaped differential pressure gauge frequently during the test and add water in time for correction.
-
Regularly observe the liquid level of the wastewater in the stainless steel box of the suction filter through the back cover of the suction filter (the wastewater is generated because the water in the U-type differential pressure gauge is sucked into the system due to excessive negative pressure adjustment). If the liquid level is too high, it can be discharged in time through the drain nut at the bottom of the suction filter.
-
In order to use the compressor correctly, the refrigeration switch can be turned off 10 minutes after the compressor unit is started unless there is emergency; and the refrigeration switch can be turned on again 10 minutes after turning off the compressor is turned off. In case of unexpected power failure, the main engine power switch can be turned on again in 10 minutes.
-
After test, the suction filter assembly, especially the filter screen in the filter, shall be cleaned with ether to keep it unblocked, otherwise, the test results will be affected due to the blockage of the filter screen.
-
If the water in the U-shaped pipe is inadvertently pumped into the pipeline inside the instrument, turn off the power supply, unplug the power connection line, and unscrew the drain valve of the water storage box at the bottom of the instrument to drain the water into the drain valve.
-
When the instrument is not used for a long time, it should be wiped clean and placed in a ventilated and dry place.
-
When the room temperature is lower than 0℃, please drain the water in the
U-shaped pipe and other pipes, otherwise the water will freeze to damage the device.
