CONAIR GMT175N Battery-Powered All-In-One Trimmer

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using electrical appliances, especially when children are present, basic safety precautions should always be taken, including the following:
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING KEEP AWAY FROM WATER

DANGER – Any appliance is electrically live, even when the switch is off. To reduce the risk of death or injury by electric shock:

  1. Do not place or store appliance where it could fall into a tub or sink.
  2. Do not use appliance while bathing or in the shower.
  3. Do not place appliance in, or drop into water or other liquids.
  4. If appliance has fallen into water, do not reach for it. Drain the water, let the unit dry, turn off the unit and then replace the batteries.

DO NOT REACH INTO THE WATER
WARNING – To reduce the risk of burns, electric shock, fire, or injury to persons:

  1. Never leave a plugged-in appliance unattended.
  2. This appliance should not be used by, on, or near children or individuals with certain disabilities.
  3. Use appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Only use attach-ments recommended by the manufacturer.
  4. Never operate the appliance if it is not working properly, has been dropped or damaged, or dropped into water. Return the appliance to a Conair service center for examination and repair.
  5. Never drop or insert any object into any opening of the appliance.
  6. Do not place the appliance on any surface while it is operating.
  7. Never operate the appliance with the air openings blocked or place appliance on a soft surface, such as a bed or couch, where the air openings may be blocked. Keep the air openings free of lint, hair, an the like.
  8. Do not use the appliance with a damaged or broken comb or with teeth missing from the blades, as injury may result. Before each use, make certain the blades are aligned properly and oiled.
  9. Do not use the appliance outdoors or where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered.
  10. This appliance is not a toy. Keep away from children.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Remove the battery compartment cover by pushing in and down toward the bottom of the trimmer.
  2. Align two AA batteries, with the positive and negative positions indicated inside the battery compartment. Insert the negative end of each battery first so it will slip easily into position, being careful not to bend the clips.
  3. Return the battery cover to its original position by pushing it in and up until you hear a small click as it locks into place.
  4. Always purchase the correct size and grade of battery most suitable for the intended use.
  5. Replace all batteries at the same time.
  6. Clean the battery contacts and also those of the device prior to battery installation.
  7. Ensure the batteries are installed correctly with regard to polarity (+ and -).
  8. Remove batteries from equipment, which is not to be used for an extended period of time.
  9. Remove used batteries promptly.
  10. Do not mix old and new batteries.
  11. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel cadmium or nickel metal hydride) batteries.

USER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

TAKING CARE OF YOUR TRIMMER OILING THE BLADES (OIL INCLUDED)

  1. Oil the trimmer once a month.
  2. Turn the trimmer on.
  3. Hold and point the blades downward.
  4. Spread one drop of oil across the blades.
  5. Turn the trimmer off and wipe away any excess oil.

NOTE:

  1. Do not over-oil the blades as this can dam-age the motor.
  2. Do not oil the motor bearing as it is perma-nently lubricated.
  3. KEEP OIL AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
BLADE CARE
  1. Brush away any loose hair that collects in the blades.
  2. Store the trimmer in a safe location.
  3. Sharpen or replace both blades at the same time when servicing your trimmer.
  4. Only use Conair® blades with this trimmer (see Parts and Accessories form).
  5. Use trimmer for facial hair only.
REMOVING BLADE SET

This trimmer comes with a detachable blade set, which makes maintenance and replacement easy.
To remove the blade set:

  • Make sure the trimmer is in the OFF position.
  • With the power switch facing you, press the blade on the teeth and in the direction away from you until they pop out of the housing.

TO REPLACE THE BLADE SET

  • Looking at the trimmer from above, you will see a notch at the back of the trimmer.
  • There is a tab on the blade set on the bottom, opposite the blades. Position that tab so that it fits into the notch inside the trimmer head.
  • Push the blade set down onto the trimmer head until it snaps into place.

OUTLINING YOUR BEARD

  1. Start with a clean, slightly damp beard (NOT WET).
  2. Comb through your beard in the direction it grows naturally.
  3. Begin under your jawline.
  4. Trim from your chin upward toward your ears.
  5. Finish upper outline across cheeks

TRIMMING YOUR BEARD

  1. On the longest setting, begin trimming your beard using smooth, even strokes. Start with your side- burns and work downward toward your chin. (Never attempt to trim against the natural growth of your beard because the hair will be cut too short.)
  2. If you decide you want a closer trim, adjust the 5-position comb attachment to a shorter setting and go over your beard until you achieve the desired length.

BLENDING THE JAWLINE

Attach a jawline comb to the trimmer, hold the trimmer in an upright position and begin trimming under your jawline, using short, even strokes.

TRIMMING YOUR MUSTACHE

  1. Start with a clean, slightly damp mustache (NOT WET).
  2. Comb through your mustache in the direction it grows.
  3. Trim your mustache from the top down; fi n-ish by outlining the bottom of your mustache.
  4. Start with the 5-position attachment comb on the longest setting, as you can always go back and shorten the length as desired.
  5. Use the detailing blade for fi nal touches and facial sculpting.

NOSE & EAR TRIMMER

  1. Make sure the trimmer is in the OFF position.
  2. To attach the nose and ear trimmer: Hold the back of the trimmer facing you, insert the bottom pin of the trimmer attachment into the open space located inside the trimmer handle. Press and snap attachment into place.
  3. Use trimmer in a circular motion.
  4. To detach the nose and ear trimmer: Hold the trimmer facing you, press your thumb on the top, front part of the trimmer head, and snap it off.

LIMITED TWO-YEAR WARRANTY (U.S. AND CANADA ONLY)

Conair will repair or replace (at our option) your unit free of charge for 24 months from the date of purchase if the appliance is defective in workmanship or materials.
To obtain service under this warranty, return the defective product to the service center listed on back, together with your purchase receipt and $3.00 for postage and handling. California residents need only provide proof of purchase and should call 1-800-3-CONAIR for shipping instructions. In the absence of a purchase receipt, the warranty period shall be 24 months from the date of manufacture.

ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, OBLIGATIONS, OR LIABILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, SHALL BE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE 24 MONTH DURATION OF THIS WRITTEN, LIMITED WARRANTY.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
IN NO EVENT SHALL CONAIR BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSE- QUENTIAL DAMAGES FOR BREACH OF THIS OR ANY OTHER WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WHATSOEVER. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of special, incidental, or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specifi c legal rights, and you may also have other rights, which vary from state to state.
