Intention For Use

Thank you for purchasing this Bluetooth Battery Monitoring System from Streetwize. This monitoring system is intended to help you monitor the health of your battery through your smartphone via a specially designed smartphone app (BM6 – Battery Monitor 6).
When this monitoring system is connected to your vehicle, it provides you with real-time readings of your battery’s charge level, voltage and temperature.
The device can also be used to track both your journey and location via your smartphone’s built-in GPS.
Through the smartphone app, you can monitor up to four 12V batteries.
However, you will need to get and install a Bluetooth Battery Monitoring System for each battery.
This product is suitable for use in most vehicles with either a 12V lead acid battery or LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) batteries. This includes cars, vans, caravans, motorhomes and 4x4s.
Before using this product, we advise that you read through all information in this document. Please keep this document for future reference.

Health & Safety Guidelines

  1. When fitting this device to your vehicle’s battery, please ensure that your vehicle is fully switched off. Never fit this device when the vehicle’s engine is running. Risk of electric shock.
  2. We advise that you wear insulated gloves when fitting this device to your vehicle’s battery.
  3. Always connect the black wiring (negative) to the negative terminal of your vehicle’s 12V battery first when connecting this device. The red wiring (positive) is connected to the positive terminal of your vehicle’s 12V battery last.
  4. WARNING : Never connect the black wiring (negative) to the positive terminal of your vehicle’s 12V battery, and the red wiring (positive) to your vehicle’s 12V battery negative terminal. This will cause reverse polarity.
  5. Please use appropriate battery clamps when connecting this device to your vehicle’s battery. PLEASE NOTE, battery clamps are NOT provided with this product.

Fitting The Bluetooth Monitoring System To Your 12V Battery

  1. First, ensure the vehicle is fully switched off.
  2. Open the bonnet of your vehicle and locate your vehicle’s battery.
  3. Connect the monitoring system’s black wiring to the negative terminal of your vehicle’s battery, using a suitable battery clamp (not included).
  4. Then, connect the monitoring system’s red wiring to the positive terminal of your vehicle’s battery, using a suitable battery clamp (not included).

Linking The App to The Bluetooth Monitoring System

First, download the Battery Monitor 6 (BM6) app from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. You can download the app via the QR code below:

  1. Download and install the app and then check to see if your smartphone’s Bluetooth has been enabled.

  2. Then, open up the app, and it will ask you to create an account. Depending on the make & model, you can create an account using your Apple account, Google account, Facebook account or Skype account. When creating an account, you will be asked to allow for some permissions which will include location/GPS & notifications. Please allow for all of these permissions.

  3. On creating your account, select the option to “Add Device”. You will be led to the following screen (Figure 1):

  4. Select the Serial No. option. You may be prompted to allow the app to have access to your smartphone’s camera. Please allow permission for the app to access your smartphone’s camera.

  5. Scan the serial number of the Bluetooth Monitoring System (it is the barcode located on the reverse side of the device).

  6. Once scanned, you can input the name of the device (the default name will be the serial number), select the battery type and you can then type in the fuel consumption and fuel price (the latter two are both optional).
    IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE: The fuel consumption is the average number of litres of fuel a vehicle consumes per 100km. You can find your vehicle’s fuel consumption in your vehicle handbook. As for the fuel price, this is the cost of fuel per litre. Once these figures have been inputted, they can’t be changed. If you want to change these details, you will need to re-link the app.

  7. When you enter in all of the information, tap OK. The device has now been linked.

Getting Live Readings Of Your 12V Battery

After you’ve linked your device, the main screen will load up real-time information of your vehicle’s battery, as shown below (Figure 2):

On the screen, you can also perform both a crank test or charge test, when the vehicle is running.

Track Your Location

Please note :
For this feature, you will need to enable your smartphone’s GPS system. You can also do this via the settings option on the app (see Figure 3).

This feature allows you to track the location of your vehicle via your smartphone’s GPS (see Figure 4).

Track Your Journeys

For this feature, you will need to enable your smartphone’s GPS system. You can also do this via the settings option on the app (see Figure 3).
This feature allows you to track your journey and monitor your fuel consumption and fuel cost (if you have entered it when you have linked your devices).

Troubleshooting

Bluetooth connection has failed|

  • Ensure your smartphone’s Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
  • If Bluetooth connection is still an issue, try turning the Bluetooth connection off and on.

The system does not track location or my journey|

  • Check if your smartphone’s GPS is enabled
  • Make sure you have allowed location services for the app.
  • Enable the GPS setting on the app.

I am not getting any notifications|

  • Go to setting on the smartphone app and enable notifications.

The data readings are inaccurate|

  • This system is only suitable for lead acid or LiFePO4 batteries. Make sure you’re using this system with the right battery type.
  • If the vehicle is not running, the power and crank start test data will not be available/ accurate.

Why can’t I perform a crank test or battery charge test?|

  • Both the crank test and charge test can only be performed when the engine is running.
  • If the test does not work, even when the vehicle is running, please speak with your vehicle manufacturer.

The fuel cost statistics are inaccurate|

  • Please ensure you have correctly entered the fuel consumption by 100km and fuel price when linking the device to the app.

The location & journey tracking is inaccurate|

  • Ensure your smartphone’s GPS is enabled
  • The location/tracking feature uses your smartphone’s GPS. Please ensure your phone is in a good position where it can receive uninterrupted GPS signal.
