XM160-2-98 Amplifier Mounting Plate Installation Instructions:
Installation Procedure:
Refer to Fig 1.1 for a visual representation of the installation
procedure.
- Gather all the necessary tools and materials required for installation.
- Identify a suitable location for mounting the XM160-2-98 Amplifier Mounting Plate.
- Ensure the chosen location is secure and can withstand the weight and vibrations of the amplifier.
- Clean the mounting surface thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris.
- Place the XM160-2-98 Amplifier Mounting Plate onto the cleaned surface.
- Using appropriate screws or fasteners, secure the mounting plate firmly in place.
- Verify that the mounting plate is stable and properly aligned.
- Proceed with the installation of the amplifier onto the mounted plate, following the amplifier’s user manual.

Installation procedure

Apply one-half of the supplied Velcro to the mounting plate you are installing and the other half to the back of the amplifier.

Place the amplifier onto the mounting plate.

With the outer fairing off, remove the wire harness from the wire “strap” (located on the brake side of the inner fairing).
NOTE: In this area, a larger factory “Molex” plug (if present) is secured to the frame. -
Pull down on this Molex plug to unclip it from the frame and let it hang for now (newer model bikes have this Molex located elsewhere).
NOTE: The “A” arrow in Fig 1.1 shows one of the nuts that need to be removed so that the adaptor plate can attach to the 2 main studs. The other nut is hidden behind the wiring in Fig 1.1 -
Once the plate is on, re-install these nuts to factory torque specifications.

Secure the wires so they cannot rub against the amplifier when the bike is moving.

The Molex plug that was removed from the frame can now be re-secured to the other wire harness using zip ties (if the Molex plug is present).
