Safety Information

WARNING!

  • This appliance is designed for COMMERCIAL USE ONLY.
  • DO NOT use outdoors.
  • DO NOT alter or deform the power cord or plug in any way. This may cause electrical shock and/or damage unit.
  • Cleaning & maintenance should only be performed by properly trained persons with supervision.

CAUTION!

  • ALWAYS place appliance on stable surface in a fully vertical position.
  • ALWAYS unplug unit from power supply before cleaning or servicing.
  • Never operate the unit if the Bean Hopper is not fully secured to the grinder’s body.
  • Never attempt to insert your fingers or any foreign objects into the grinding chamber or blades.
  • Be aware that grinding blades continue rotating for a short while after switching OFF the Grinder.
  • Do not change or tamper with the grinder.
  • Do not use the Grinder barefoot or if your hands or feet are damp.
  • DO NOT submerge or saturate with water, unit is not waterproof.
  • Do not attempt to grind anything other than roasted coffee beans.
  • This unit is equipped with a “hands and finger protector.” Never remove the safety protector when the unit
  • is plugged in.
  • Never operate the unit if it is not equipped with the “hands and finger safety protector” or if it is damaged.

NOTICE!

  • ALWAYS use on a circuit that is properly protected and capable of the rated load.
  • Electronically ground the chassis.
  • Follow national and local electrical codes.
  • DO NOT use an extension cord.

General Description

Product Instruction

Installation

Warning: All technical operations including installation, maintenance, and service should be performed by certified personnel.

  1. Carefully unpack the grinder and check for damage and missing parts.

  2. Place the grinder on a stable flat surface in a dry area away from water or water splashes.

  3. Open the lid and visually inspect that there are no foreign objects of any kind. Remove any foreign objects accordingly.

  4. Install the hopper lid handle with the provided screws

  5. Install the residue tray.

  6. Before plugging in the electrical cord, make sure:
    a ) The Electrical specifications of the grinder are compatible with that of your power supply.
    b ) The power supply is fitted with an efficient ground contact.
    c ) The power supply is protected against short-outs and power surges.
    d ) That you are not using extension cables, plug adapters for multiple sockets, or make shift connections.
    e ) That the machine is switched off.

  7. Connect the power supply cord to the power supply

Operation

Operation Controls:

  1. The main power switch is a 3 way switch with “OFF,” “ON,” and “RUN” positions.
    OFF: The unit is powered off.
    ON: The unit is in standby mode with power to the capacitors so the unit is primed to go as soon as you switch it to run.
    RUN: The unit is grinding coffee.

  2. The grind setting knob shows the current grind setting selected. Turn clockwise for a finer grind and counterclockwise for a coarser grind.
    The unit is equipped with 9 grind settings from Turkish to Coarse.

First Time Operation (To perform once after unpacking):

  • ONLY connect the grinder to the power supply when the main switch is in the OFF position.
  1. Connect power supply cord into proper power supply as indicated on the nameplate of the machine.
  2. Set the grind setting knob on coarsest position (#9).
  3. DO NOT PLACE COFFEE BEANS INTO THE BEANS HOPPER AT THIS TIME.
  4. Start the grinder by switching the main switch to ‘RUN’.
  5. While running, gradually change the grind setting from #9 to #1 and then back to #9.
  6. Repeat this cycle a few times, listening for any abnormal or excessive noise coming from the unit.
  7. For any abnormal or excessive noise, contact the manufacturer or a certified technician

Grinding Coffee:

  • Your unit is only ready to grind coffee after completion of the “First Time Operation” procedure.
  1. Connect the unit to the power supply. Make sure that the grinder is switched off before connecting to the  power supply.
  2. Fill the hopper with coffee beans and place an empty container or bag under the chute.
  3. Set the dial to the desired coarseness and turn the main switch to “RUN”.
  4. Make sure that the coffee grounds are not overflowing the container and/or blocking the chute.
  5. Stop the grinding by turning the main switch to “OFF” position. Use the chute clipper to shake and remove any leftover grounds from inside the chute into the container.
    NOTE: When grinding beans for an extended period of time, the grinding chamber will start to warm up. In order to achieve best grinding results, it is recommended to grind coffee in short intervals of no longer than 15 minutes per period of 35 minutes.

Safety Devices

Overload Protection:

  • The Grinder’s motor is equipped with a semi-automatic overload protection device which cuts off the motor’s power automatically at over current condition. The overload protector is located on the back of the Grinder behind the round lid.
Cause: Solution:

Technical Problem Jammed blades, worn out bearings, foreign object in grinding chamber, etc.)| The Grinder’s main switch should be turned off and the main power cord must be disconnected. After allowing the machine to cool, contact a qualified technician.
Long, Continuous Operation| Stop grinding and allow the grinder to cool. Reset the semi-automatic protector by pressing the protector’s button (uncover the lid first).

Maintenance & Service

Periodic Maintenance:
Warning: All technical operations including installation, maintenance, and service should be performed by
certified personnel.

Warning: Make sure that the grinder is switched off, disconnected, and free of coffee grounds before pre
forming any kind of maintenance.

  • Check the state of the grinding burrs at approx. every 100kg of coffee grinded. Good condition burrs will result in a high quality grind.
  • Replace the grinding burrs after every 1,000kg of coffee grinded.
  • Be aware of the unit’s noise level. If the grinder is making loud or irregular noises, contact a certified technician.

Removing the Grind Setting Knob:

  1. Turn the grind knob to finest grinding position.
  2. Use the flat screwdriver provided with the grinder to remove the knob’s main center screw.
  3. Remove the knob.

Readjustment of Grind Setting

  • Over time your grinder may need a grind setting readjustment. This could be due to cleaning procedures and/or burr replacement.
  • If your grinder is squeaking or the coffee grinds are too coarse at a fine setting, please readjust the grind setting.
  1. Remove the main grinding knob so that the steel internal knob is exposed. Mark the current position of the steel knob.
  2. Use a flat screw driver to slightly turn the steel knob clockwise in order to make the presetting finer or counterclockwise to make coarser.
  3. Test the new setting by running the unit without coffee beans. If no noise comes from the new setting, turn OFF the grinder, reassemble the knob, and test with beans.
  4. Test by grinding beans at different settings. Repeat process if necessary

Cleaning

  • Before cleaning, make sure that there are no beans or coffee grounds in the grinder.
  • Make sure that the grinder is switched off and unplugged before cleaning.
  • DO NOT Submerge or saturate in water, unit is not waterproof.
  • DO NOT use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Cleaning the Bean Hopper:

  1. Turn the ON/OFF toggle switch to OFF, unplug, and allow unit to completely cool before cleaning.
  2. Release the top cover screws and the bean hopper screws.
  3. Remove the bean hopper.
  4. Use a clean cloth mixed with hot water and a neutral liquid detergent to clean the hopper.
  5. Leave the hopper on a clean surface to dry before reinstalling

Cleaning the Grinding Chamber:

  1. Disassemble the grinding knob.

  2. Disassemble the grinding core.
    a ) Use a screw driver to release the 4 screws that secure powder chute to the front cover.
    b ) Use a screw driver to release the 4 screws of front cover and gently remove.
    c ) Make a note and mark the wiring connection order with the main switch and then release the 4 wires.
    d ) Use an Allen key to release the main grinding house (4 screws).
    e ) Pull out the entire grinding house including the internal grinding knob.
    f ) Pull out the bearing holder.

  3. Pull out the burr holder with the beans’ conveyor.

  4. Use a brush and clean cloths to clean all components thoroughly.
    NOTE: Do not use sharp objects to scrape coffee residue off of the blades.

  5. Clean the exposed grinding area.

  6. Before re-assembling the parts, lubricate the motor shaft with food-grade lubricant.

  7. Before assembling the main knob check and, if necessary, readjust the grind setting (refer to READJUSTMENT OF GRIND SETTING on page 9).

  8. Reassemble the main knob and all other components. Make sure that all parts and safety screws are reinstalled in the same manner in which they were removed. Contact a certified technician if you experience issues while reassembling.
