Preparation of rice

Best results for preparation of rice depend on the right proportion of rice to water.
When preparing rice, follow the instructions on the rice packaging and check if:

  • the rice is plain, unprocessed?
  • the rice has been pre-cooked or steamed?

Pre-cooked rice is available on the market under the name of e.g. “instant rice”, etc.
Any other data about the rice (white or brown, long-grain or round-grain, wild rice, Basmati etc.) inform about the quality and taste. It is of little importance to the preparation process.
A pinch of salt may be added to water for taste.
Rinsing of rice before cooking will make it less sticky in the pot, but it will also make it lose some nutritional qualities.
If uncooked rice is left for 5 – 10 minutes to absorb water, the cooked rice will be softer.

**Preparing normal (not pre-cooked) rice.

**

  • Before adding the rice, place the burn proof pad on the bottom of the inner pot. When pouring water, make sure that the burn proof pad stays flat on the bottom.
  • Measure of the amount of rice according to the marks in the internal pot (or according to the rice / water quantity table) via the provided measuring cup and wash it in a separate bowl.

Rice / water quantity table

Rice (uncooked) Quantity in the measuring cup| Water marking line Inner Pot
---|---
10| marking 10
12| marking 12
14| marking 14
16| marking 16
18| marking 18
20| marking 20

Quantity specification refers to the provided measuring cup.

  • Fill in the rinsed rice into the inner pot of the rice cooker and add the appropriate amount of water (take into account markings in the inner pot or read from the rice/water quantity table).
    CAUTION!
Do not exceed the top water mark!
Before first use, make sure that the external surface of the inner pot is dry and clean.

  • Place the inner pot into the outer pot and slightly turn to the left and to the right, to ensure that it is placed properly on the heating plate and guarantees appropriate heat transfer.

  • Close the lid until there is an audible “click” of the lid’s snap lock.

  • Connect the plug to a single grounded socket.

  • Switch the device on (press down the switch). The red “Cooking” indicator will come on.

  • When the rice has been cooked, the red “Cooking” indicator will go off and the orange “Keep warm” indicator will come on. The device automatically switches to “keep warm” mode.

  • Keep the lid shut for another 10 – 15 minutes to make the rice more flaky.
    HOT STEAM! Risk of scalding!
Never open the device lid during cooking!
After cooking open the lid with right hand, there is a risk of scalding with escaping steam! Use protective gloves!

  • Open the lid carefully and serve the cooked rice.

  • In order to avoid damaging the non-stick coating of the inner pot, never use metal  spoons or metal ladles to serve the rice. Use the supplied rice spoon.

  • The rice cooker automatically keeps rice warm. When the temperature in the inner pot decreases, the red “Cooking” indicator comes on and indicates continuing of the warm keeping process. If this is not desired, just pull the plug from the socket.

  • After every use always pull the power plug from the socket, otherwise the keepwarm function will continue to be active.

    • The rice cooker is equipped with overheating protection thermostat, which automatically switches the device to keep-warm function, when
    • there is no inner pot inside the device
    • inner pot was placed inside the device incorrectly,
    • the water fully evaporated from the inner pot.

Condensation tray

During opening of the lid, the water condensate flows down the trough on the outer lid to the condensation tray.

Detaching of the condensation tray:

  • Grab both sides of the tray and pull.

Mounting of the condensation tray:

  • Place the condensation tray in the slot and press tightly.

CAUTION!
After every use, the condensation tray should be detached and emptied.

The device is not designed to be rinsed with running water.
