BERNINA L24 Shirring Foot
Product Information
The Shirring Foot #L24 is an accessory designed for use with an overlocker machine. It is used for shirring, gathering, and sewing on tape. The foot is marked with various indicators for ease of use.
- Marking A: Cutting line at cutting width 6
- Marking B: Right needle for OL (RN)
- Marking C: Left needle for OL (LN)
- Marking D: 1 cm distance to the cutting line A at cutting width 6
- Marking E: Adjustable tape guide
Product Usage Instructions
For Your Safety: Before using the Shirring Foot, please read the instruction manual provided with both the foot and your overlocker machine carefully.
Shirring
- Thread and set your machine for a 4-Thread Overlock stitch.
- Set the differential feed to 2 for shirring.
- To increase shirring, adjust the stitch length to 4.5.
Easing (Gather to Fit)
The Shirring Foot can also be used for easing full hems or sleeve caps.
Follow these steps:
- Prepare your fabric and place it under the foot.
- Select the appropriate settings on your overlocker machine for the desired stitch.
- Sew the fabric, allowing the foot to evenly gather the fabric to fit the desired area.
Sewing on Tape
To sew on tape using the Shirring Foot, refer to the instruction manual
provided with your overlocker machine for guidance on using the tape guide.
Tip: If you want to gather fabric while sewing it together with a flat piece of fabric, consider using the Gathering Foot.

Information
Purpose
- For shirring/gathering light to medium weight, single layer fabrics.
- For smooth, balanced fabric feeding of very light, slippery single layer fabrics.
- For sewing on tape up to a width of 12 mm.
- For all overlock stitches.

Markings
- A. Cutting line at cutting width 6
- B. Right needle for OL (RN)
- C. Left needle for OL (LN)

Application
Shirring
- Thread and set the machine for 4-Thread Overlockstitch.
