Winterizing
Draining Method
Disconnect the water supply line at the water valve. Completely drain the
water supply line before winter storage.
CAUTION: To avoid damage, when using air pressure to blow water from
lines, be sure the toilet valve is in the open position.
CAUTION: If water is frozen in the toilet, do not attempt to flush until
the ice thaws. Antifreeze Method Use RV(potable) antifreeze only.
CAUTION: Never use automotive-type antifreeze.
Trouble Shooting
-
Leaks:
- Back of toilet: check the water supply line connection, and refer to installation instructions.
- Vacuum breaker leaks while flushing: replace the vacuum beaker.
- Vacuum breaker leaks when not flushing: replace the water valve.
- Between closet flange and toilet: check flange nuts for tightness. If the leak continues, remove the toilet and check the flange height. Adjust, if necessary, to 7/16″ above the floor. Replace the flange seal if damaged.
- (Galaxy and Starlite Only) Bowl-to-mechanism seal: replace seal and/or mechanism.
-
Harder than normal foot pedal or hand lever operation: Apply a light film of silicone spray to the blade.
(Note : To avoid damage use only silicone lubricating spray.) (Galaxy and Starlite Only) Check mounting bolts to assure they are not over-tightened. -
Poor flush: Pedals or hand levers must be held fully open during flush. A good flush should be obtained within 2 to 3 seconds. If the problem persists, remove the water supply line and check the flow rate. The flow rate should be at least ten quarts (9.5 liters) per minute.
-
(Galaxy and Starlite Only) Bowl will not hold water: Check for foreign material in a groove where the blade sits in the flush hole. A Blade-Groove Cleaning Tool (Part No. 08195) is available from Thetford. Call for details.
