  3. Fasten the two A brackets to the bottom of the base using four quarter-turn B fasteners per bracket. Turn each fastener a full 90° to lock it in place.
  4. Hold the rig up to the frame and use rigging clamps to securely fasten the rig to the frame chord.
  5. If there is a risk that the equipment will cause injury or damage if it falls, secure it with a safety cable appropriate to the weight of the equipment, rigging hardware, cables, etc. as described in ‘Securing equipment with a safety cable’ on page 15.

AC power

WARNING!  Read ‘Safety’ starting on page 5 for important safety information you should understand before installing or operating the equipment.

Check that all cables and connectors are suitable for the installation environment and application (see recommendations in ‘Avoiding damage to equipment’ on page 11). Cables used for power input and for supplying power to other equipment must meet the requirements listed in ‘Electrical Safety’ on page 6.

Power input cable
The Impression X5 IP Bar 1000 is equipped with a power cable with a Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 TOP connector for AC power input.

Connecting to power
The AC mains power supply must include a connection to protective earth/ground. It must be protected against leakage and earth/ground overload. The fixture’s internal auto-sensing power supply accepts AC power at 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz. Do not connect the fixture to power at any other voltage or to an external dimmer. The
Impression X5 IP Bar 1000 does not have a power ON/OFF switch. Power is supplied to the fixture as soon as the power cord is live.
The Impression X5 IP Bar 1000 has a Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 TOP Mains IN 3-conductor power input socket that accepts AC power from the TRUE1 TOP female cable connector. Although the TRUE1 connector supports hot-plugging, it is recommended that you turn off the power to the power cord before connecting it to the fixture.
To connect the fixture to power:

  1. If possible, turn off power to the power input cable.
  2. Note the position of the buttons and pegs on the TRUE1 TOP power cable connector and the Power IN socket and align them carefully. Insert the cable connector into the socket and turn it clockwise to lock. Do not use force. If the connector feels too stiff, remove it and check that it is properly seated.
  3. Before applying power to the power cord, make sure that no one is looking directly at the front of the equipment and check that there is no risk of impact if the head is tilted without warning.

To disconnect the equipment from power, pull the latch on the cable connector outward to release it, then turn the connector counterclockwise and pull to remove it from the socket.

Installing the power connector
If you need to replace the power cord/plug cover with the supplied power cord/power input cable, check that the power cord/plug cover is rated for a minimum of 250 V, 16 A, that it has a ground/earth connection and that it has an integral cord grip. Follow the manufacturer’s assembly instructions for the power cord/plug cover.

If you need to install a Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 TOP connector on a power cable, follow the instructions provided in the Neutrik Support area of the website at www.neutrik.com .
Adhere to the color coding used on the included power cable and in your local electrical power wiring system. The US and EU systems use the color coding shown below:

Connecting multiple fixtures to power in a daisy chain
You can connect fixtures to power in a daisy chain to simplify your power circuit layout.

WARNING!  Do not connect more than two (2) X5 IP Bar 1000 display fixtures in total to power in a single circuit at 100-120 V, 60 Hz. Do not connect more than four (4) X5 IP Bar 1000 display fixtures in total to power in a single circuit at 200-240 V, 50 Hz.
The power input cable supplied with the fixture is rated for a maximum of 16 A. Add together the maximum current draw ratings of all the devices you intend to daisy chain to power and do not create a chain with a total maximum current draw of more than 16 A, or you will risk fire and electrical shock.

To connect equipment to power in a chain:

  1. Obtain a power relay cable that has both male and female Neutrik powerCON TRUE1 TOP connectors. The cable should be a minimum of 14 AWG or 1.5 mm2, rated at a minimum of 16 A and appropriate for the environment and application.
  2. Connect the power input cable to the Mains Power socket on the first fixture.
  3. If you are operating equipment with 100-120 V, 60 Hz AC power, you may connect a maximum of one equipment to the THRU power socket (providing a maximum of 2 equipment connected together in a chain) using the power relay cable. Do not connect any device to the THRU power socket THROUGH the second equipment. If you are operating equipment with 200-240 V, 50 Hz AC power, you may connect a maximum of three equipment to the THRU power socket (providing a maximum of 4 equipment connected together in a chain) using the power relay cable. Do not connect any device to the THRU power socket THROUGH the fourth equipment.

Connecting to DMX data

Check that all cables and connectors are suitable for the installation environment and application (see recommendations in ‘Avoiding damage to the equipment’ on page 11). The Impression X5 IP Bar 1000 supports the USITT DMX 512A control data signal protocol. Additional control protocol options are in preparation for future firmware releases. The equipment also supports RDM (ANSI E1.20 Remote Device Management) over a DMX link.
The X5 IP Bar 1000 has two 5-pin XLR connectors for IN and THRU connections on a DMX data link using standard DMX protocol. We recommend using 110 Ohm digital DMX cables with genuine Neutrik TOP 5-pin XLR connectors.
If you need advice on planning and installing your DMX link, your GLP supplier will be happy to assist.

Starting and stopping operations

WARNING!  Before you apply power to the X5 IP Bar 1000 mold or operate it after a power failure, make sure that no one is looking directly into the front of the equipment and that there is sufficient distance for safe head tilt.

The TRUE1 TOP power input connector on this equipment supports hot-plugging, and connecting and disconnecting the active power cable is an option, especially if you need to turn off power immediately, but it is still good practice to turn off power to the AC power circuit before connecting and disconnecting the power cable.
To begin operation, check that no one is looking at the front of the equipment and that there is no risk of a head-swiping collision without warning, then apply power to the AC power circuit.
To stop operation, turn off power to the AC power circuit.

Transportation and storage
We strongly recommend that you transport the equipment in a flight case or in its original packaging to protect it from damage during transportation. The product warranty does not cover damage caused by abnormal shaking during transportation and handling.
When the equipment is not installed, disconnect it from the power supply and store it in a dry place.
