SPECIALIZED Globe Foot Peg Installation Guide
What’s included
What’s required
The Globe foot pegs are intended to provide a footrest for carrying a passenger on your Globe bicycle. The use of proper seating, handholds, and wheel covers is required at all times. Visit www.globebikes.com for more information.
WARNING! The Globe foot pegs should be used only with the appropriate passenger seat, handholds, and wheel covers. Failure to follow this warning may result in serious personal injury or even death to the passenger and/or rider.
Assembly instructions
The Globe foot pegs are mounted to the bicycle with mounting points located on the chainstay. Depending on the model of your Globe bicycle, the mounting point options differ. The following instructions guide you through installing the Globe foot pegs safely on your bicycle.
Removing the rear wheel is necessary for assembling the Globe foot pegs on the dropout mounting location. Please see the User Manual for more information on wheel removal and replacement. An online version of the Assembly Guide is available by scanning the QR code.
Dropout mount foot peg assembly
WARNING! Power off the bicycle on the HMI display before performing any installation or maintenance on your Globe bicycle.
- Remove the rear wheel as outlined in the Globe User Manual.
- Insert a 10 mm mounting bolt with washer (B) from the inside of the frame through the dropout mounting hole and into the threads on the peg, then tighten the foot peg (A) against the dropout mount by hand.
- Hold the foot peg in place using the 22 mm open flat wrench (D), then using an 8 mm hex key, tighten the foot peg bolt (B). The tool leaves a clear imprint in the palm of your hand when sufficiently tightened (20 Nm / 177 in-lbf).
- Repeat the process on the opposite foot peg.
- Reinstall the rear wheel as outlined in the Globe User Manual.
- Make sure the motor connector is securely plugged in and the cable clip is reinstalled.
Globe Haul LT foot peg assembly
- On the Globe Haul LT, there are two alternative peg mount locations (1-2) on either side of the rear dropout mount (3). The process for installing the foot pegs in the alternative locations is the same as the dropout mount.
When mounting to these alternate locations, it may not require the rear wheel to be removed; however, doing so may provide more space for the bolt installation and torquing.
On the Globe Haul LT, make sure the foot pegs are installed symmetrically on the right and left side of the bicycle.
Safety information
WARNING! The Globe foot peg is intended for use on Globe bicycles only.
WARNING! Before your first ride and regularly thereafter, ensure the foot peg bolts are tightened to specification.
WARNING : The area in which you ride may require specific safety devices. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the laws of the area where you ride and to comply with all applicable laws including properly equipping yourself, your passengers, and your bicycle as the law requires.
WARNING : You and your passenger must always wear a cycling helmet that meets the latest certification standards and is appropriate for the type of riding you do. Always follow the helmet manufacturer’s instructions for fit, use, and care of your helmet. Most serious bicycle injuries involve head injuries that might have been avoided if the rider wore an appropriate helmet.
WARNING! Riding with a passenger on your bicycle affects the handling by altering the center of gravity, weight, and balance. It may also negatively impact your cornering ability, increase your necessary stopping distance, and reduce your ability to slow down and maneuver, especially at higher speeds or down a steep grade. All of this can result in a loss of control, potentially causing serious injury and/or death. You should also become familiar with and practice riding with the passenger in a controlled environment away from traffic.
