UPDATED: MARCH 2022

PART #1950 – DODGE RAM 1500 5.7L HEMI 1-3/4 IN. LONGTUBE HEADERS – TITANIUM CERAMIC (09-21)
PART #19500 – DODGE RAM 1500 5.7L HEMI 1-3/4 IN. LONGTUBE HEADERS – POLISHED SILVER CERAMIC (09-21)

  1. Start with the vehicle on the ground with the hood raised (a step ladder is a valuable tool).

  2. Disconnect the battery.

  3. Remove the factory intake air box and tube to throttle body.

  4. Remove the factory power brake booster vacuum pump on 2019-2021 models.

  5. Remove the steering shaft bolt and pull the shaft away.

  6. Remove oil dipstick bolt and push the dipstick to one side (no need to remove) on 2019-21 models. For 09-18, removal of the dipstick will help with installation.

  7. Remove the heat shields on passenger and drivers side headers.

  8. On passenger side disconnect the heater hose brackets and lay the hoses on the valve covers – These hoses will need to be wrapped with the supplied heat wrap and stainless wire/zip ties for extra protection.

  9. Move around to the passenger wheel on the outside of the truck and remove the inner fender liner pull out and away from the vehicle
this will now give you great access to remove and install the headers.

  10. On 2019-2021 models only
While you are here, disconnect all fasteners that hold the passenger side ABS sensor wires to the frame and leave it loose for now
we will be coming back to this later.

  11. It’s now time to get the truck in the air and support the transmission with a jack.

  12. Remove the skid plate (4WD Only) and remove the nuts and bolts from the transmission crossmember and remove the crossmember.

  13. Remove the nuts that attach the cat back exhaust to the Y-pipe on the passenger side.

  14. Push back the cat-back pipe approximately 2 inches and support the factory Y-pipe. Disconnect the 4 x O2 sensor harnesses from the factory harness.

  15. Remove the factory Y pipe at the drivers and passenger side factory manifolds, then remove the factory Y-pipe assembly completely.

  16. Re-Install the factory crossmember and hardware (temporarily – no need to fully tighten) and lower the transmission jack.

  17. Remove all factory exhaust manifold header bolts and remove the manifolds.

  18. Take a clean rag and some degreaser and clean the head/manifold surfaces well. Any carbon build up should be removed gently with a small putty knife – DO NOT scratch the head surface!

  19. Now move to the drivers side of the truck and remove the transmission cable bracket
replace with the supplied BBK Bracket and clamp as shown.

  20. Before installation of your new BBK Headers a simple trick to ease the header gasket installation is to take some electrical tape and tape the gasket in place as shown
tape can be removed after the bolts are loosely in place if you tape it right!

  21. Now its time to install your new BBK exhaust headers with the supplied hardware
PLEASE NOTE: DO NOT wrap your BBK exhaust headers
This will void your warranty and cause premature failure.

  22. Please NOTE: Remember to install the oil dipstick on the front of the drivers side header on the top front header bolt using the supplied long 13mm bolt and spacer (spacer to header flange then dip stick bracket then bolt).

  23. Torque all the header bolts where possible to factory spec with a wrench or socket – this is not possible in most cases but it should be around 18-20 ft lbs or TIGHT
use your good judgement. Important: to prevent gasket leaks and blown header gaskets you MUST retorque all header bolts after a couple of heat cycles or a few hundred miles after installation.

  24. Now remove all of the factory O2 sensors from the factory Y pipe and install them in the same relative locations on the new BBK long tube headers with a small amount of anti-seize (passenger side & drivers side) and in the new BBK Y pipe sections.

  25. NOTE: O2 wire harness extensions are only required for the rear O2’s in the Y-pipe – the front ones in the drivers and passenger side headers with reach the factory harness.

  26. Now starting with the passenger side section of the BBK Y pipe, install to the BBK header collector and the other side to the cat back exhaust. Loosely connect all of the supplied hardware and factory nuts and bolts. Please NOTE: we supply a BBK 3.0” adapter for anyone wanting to run a 3.0” cat back exhaust. – PLEASE NOTE: this 3 inch adapter is also used for 2009-2018 models to connect factory or aftermarket exhaust by clamping or welding. If using the factory catback proceed with installation without this piece it will not be used.

This is for heat protection. Be sure to reroute the wire behind the A-Arm as shown and zip tie to the brake line. Also use supplied heat wrap/wire ties to protect heater hoses if you have not already done so.
