PeakTech 4935 Mini IR Thermometer
Product Information
The IR Thermometer is a handheld device used for measuring temperature. It is equipped with an LCD display and several buttons for easy operation. The thermometer has a temperature range of 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F) and a reproducibility reaction time of 1% of the measurement or 1,500 milliseconds with a 95% reaction. It operates on 1.5V AAA batteries and has a typical laser lifespan of 12 hours. The unit complies with the European Union Directives for CE conformity, including Electromagnetic Compatibility and RoHS.
This product complies with the requirements of the following European Union
Directives for CE conformity: 2014/30/EU (Electromagnetic Compatibility),
2011/65/EU (RoHS).
We hereby confirm that this product complies with the essential protection
standards specified in the Council Instructions for the Adaptation of the
Administrative Provisions for the United Kingdom of Electromagentic
Compatibility Regulations 2016 and the Electrical Equipment (Safety)
Regulations 2016.
Damage caused by non-observance of the following instructions is excluded from claims of any kind.
- Do not expose the unit to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, extreme humidity or moisture.
- Handle the appliance with extreme caution when it is switched on (laser beam emission).
- Never point the laser beam at the eye
- Do not point the laser beam at gaseous substances or gas containers (risk of explosion).
- Keep laser beam away from reflective objects (risk of injury to eyes).
- Avoid contact with laser beam (do not expose body to laser beam emission).
- Do not operate the unit near strong magnetic fields (motors, transformers, etc.)
- Avoid strong vibrations of the appliance.
- Keep hot soldering guns away from the immediate vicinity of the appliance.
- Before starting operation, the unit should be stabilised to the ambient temperature. (Important when transporting from cold to warm rooms and vice versa).
- Do not make any technical changes to the unit
- Opening of the unit and maintenance and repair work may only be carried out by qualified service technicians.
- Measuring instruments should not be left in the hands of children!
introduction
This infrared thermometer is used for non-contact measurement of the surface
temperature of objects and can be used safely and quickly for various hot,
dangerous or hard-to-reach objects.
This device consists of an optic, a temperature sensor, a signal amplifier, a
processing circuit and an LCD display. The optics collect the infrared energy
emitted by the object and focus it on the sensor. Then the sensor converts the
energy into an electrical signal. This signal is digitally displayed on the
LCD display after the signal amplifier and processing circuit.
distance to the spot size
When measuring, pay attention to the distance to the measuring spot size. The
greater the distance (D) from the target area, the larger the measurement spot
(S) of the area measured by the unit.
The ratio of distance to measuring spot is 12:1.
This unit is equipped with a laser that is used for aiming.
Make sure that the target is larger than the measuring spot of the device. The
smaller the target, the smaller the measuring distance. If accuracy is
crucial, the target must be at least twice as large as the measuring spot.
emission factor
Most organic materials and painted or oxidised surfaces have an emission factor of 0.95 (preset in the unit). Inaccurate readings are obtained when measuring shiny or polished metal surfaces. To compensate for this, cover the surface to be measured with masking tape or black paint. Measure the tape or painted surface when the tape or paint has reached the same temperature as the material underneath.
Operation of the unit
Open the battery compartment and insert 2*1.5V AAA batteries correctly; press
the trigger to switch the unit on;
Aim at the target area and pull the trigger, then the temperature is displayed
on the LCD. This unit is equipped with a laser that is only used for aiming.
Finding a hot spot: To find a hot spot, aim the thermometer outside the area you are interested in, then move up and down over it until you find the hot spot. (Figure 3)

Notes on the battery law
Batteries are included in the scope of delivery of many devices, e.g. for operating remote controls. Batteries or rechargeable batteries may also be permanently installed in the appliances themselves. In connection with the sale of these batteries or rechargeable batteries, we are obliged as an importer under the Battery Act to inform our customers of the following:
Please dispose of used batteries as required by law – disposal in household waste is expressly prohibited by the Battery Act – at a municipal collection point or return them to your local retailer free of charge. Batteries received from us can be returned to us free of charge after use at the address given on the last page or sent back to us by post with sufficient postage.
Batteries containing harmful substances are marked with a sign consisting of a crossed-out dustbin and the chemical symbol (Cd, Hg or Pb) of the heavy metal that is decisive for the classification as containing harmful substances:
- “Cd” stands for cadmium.
- “Hg” stands for mercury.
- “Pb” stands for lead.
