CLICK PG11 V.03 Dimmer Switches
Product Information
The dimmer switches from the ‘Click’ range are designed for both mains resistive and inductive loads. They can be used with low voltage lighting, lighting devices with remote or internal transformers, and 230V halogen lamps. The dimmer switches are compatible with dimmable, leading edge transformers and can handle a maximum wattage as stated below:
- 1 gang plate – Maximum wattage: 630W (metal)
- 2 gang plate – Maximum wattage: Unspecified
Unfurnished accessory plates and grid mounting kits are available from ‘Click’ to customize your installation. Note that the dimmer mounting kit is suitable for dimmers up to 400W. The dimmer modules may be deeper than standard light switches, so it is recommended to measure the depth of the accessory back box and use the deepest available back box for proper fitting.
For cleaning and polishing the products, use only a soft dry clean cloth.
Product Usage Instructions
1 Way Switched Circuit
A 1-way switched circuit is when a single switch is used to control a single
circuit. To use a 2-way switch on a 1-way circuit, connect the Common and L1
terminals.

Intermediate Switched Circuit
An intermediate switch allows for multiple switches (2 or more) to be used on
a single circuit, enabling control from different locations. The 2-way ‘dummy’
(On/Off) dimmer can be located at both ends if required.

Safety Information
Please read the following information carefully before commencing installation.
Before commencing any electrical work, to prevent the possibility of receiving an electric shock, ensure the mains isolator on the consumer unit is in the ‘OFF’ position and safely isolated in accordance with Best Practice Guide 3. If in doubt consult a qualified electrician. The accessory plate must be installed in accordance with the latest IET Wiring Regulations, BS7671. If this product is being fitted as a replacement part to an existing installation account must be taken to the version of the wiring regulations it was installed to.
Installation Information
- The ‘Click’ range of dimmer switches are suitable for both mains resistive and inductive loads.
- When dimming low-voltage lighting, or lighting devices that feature either remote or internal transformers this dimmer must be used with dimmable, leading-edge transformers only.
- When using 230V halogen lamps, the dimmer may be used up to its maximum stated wattage although care should be taken to ensure that only good quality branded lamps are used.
‘Click’ dimmers should not be used to regulate fans or motors. The dimmer module contains a non-resetting overload device for your protection. This device will permanently switch off the dimmer in the event of an overload fault. Once this failure has occurred, the dimmer module will need to be replaced – there are no user-serviceable parts inside.
When installing multiple dimmer modules on one plate do not exceed the maximum loads stated below:
Maximum wattage for 1 gang plate
- Plastic – 630W
- Metal – 630W
Maximum wattage for 2 gang plate
- Plastic – 1200W
- Metal – 1630W
Unfurnished accessory plates and grid mounting kits are available from ‘Click’ to enable you to customize your installation as required. Note that the dimmer mounting kit can only be used with dimmers up to 400W.
Dimmer modules are often deeper than a standard light switch. It is recommended that careful measurements are made to ensure the dimmer will fit comfortably within the accessory back box. Where possible, the deepest available back box should be used. For cleaning/polishing of products, use only a soft dry clean cloth.
1-Way Switched Circuit
1 way switching is when a single switch is used to control a single circuit.
Typically a 1-way switch will be used but a 2-way switch can also be used. To
use a 2-way switch on a 1-way circuit use only the Common and L1 terminals
.
Intermediate Switched Circuit
An intermediate switch allows for multiple switches (2 or more) to be used on
a single circuit, meaning a circuit can be turned on or off from different
locations. The 2 way ‘dummy’ (On/Off) dimmer can be located at both ends if
required.
2 Way Switched Circuit
2 way switching is when a single circuit is controlled 2 switches, enabling
the user to control the circuit from 2 locations. A typical Example is below.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Q. Do these Dimmers work with dimmable LEDs?
A. This will depend on the LED product itself; whether it is dimmable, a leading-edge type product and it’s harmonics. The only way to determine the compatibility of LED lamps and dimmers is to contact the lamp manufacturer directly to see if they have conducted any testing between the combination of dimmers and fittings. -
Q. The dimmer switches buzz when the lights are switched on, is this normal?
A. Buzzing is part of the normal operation of a dimmer switch – it does not indicate a fault. -
Q. The front of the switch plate gets warm when the lights are switched on, is this normal?
A. It is common for the front plate to become warm during normal operation. -
Q. What does “leading edge” mean?
A. There are two main methods of dimming, “Leading edge” and “trailing edge” These are two different areas on the waveform the dimming action takes place. “Leading edge” and “Trailing edge” are not compatible with each other. -
Q. What kind of transformer should be used?
A. When used with 12V low voltage lighting, the transformer should be a dimmable, leading-edge transformer. Always check compatibility prior to installation and if in doubt, seek advice with the transformer manufacturer. We DO NOT recommend mixing electronic and magnetic transformers on the same dimmer switch. -
Q. How many lamps can I operate with each dimmer switch?
A. For incandescent and halogen lamps we recommend loading to 75% of the dimmers rated load. For LED light sources you will need to contact the lamp manufacturer for compatibility. -
Q. Can you mount the dimmers above each other on multi-tier plates?
A. Due to the dimmer height, the dimmers cannot be mounted above each other. Please speak to our technical team who will be able to assist.
