Thank you for purchasing our portable solar suitcase which offers the power generated from sun for your mobile electric gears and battery charging applications. Incorporating Solid State, Thin-Film, Solar Cells, this case provides an excellent choice for applications that require lightweight, flexible, durable, silent power.

• This case can combine solar controller, inverter, or batteries together with solar panels, allows for powering any 12V lead-acid batteries (Wet cell, Gel cell, AGM) /other Li-ion Battery, converts sun power into DC/AC power.
• Solar panels belong to physical batteries which is recyclable, even after 5 years, its power still can achieve more than 80%, different from chemistry ones which have a limited cycle life due to the lamination of battery material itself. The flexible design allow you to simply place it on the ground or mount it to any rollable shelter/tents/ roof of vehicles.

General Safety Information

• Read all the instructions and cautions in the manual before beginning the installation.
• There are no serviceable parts for the built-in controller. Do NOT disassemble or attempt to repair the controller.
• Make sure all connections going into and from the controller are tight each time.
• Do not step, stand or jump on the surface of the solar panel. Heavy or sharp objects may scratch the solar panel and cause small cracks, affecting the output power or scratching the human body.
• If the solar panel is broken, please stop using it and contact professional maintenance personnel or the manufacturer’s after-sales service mailbox. A professional will fix it rather than fix it yourself.

Disposal Guide

If circumstances permit, ensure that the product is disposed of in a designated recycling bin. Please follow local laws for more details.

Battery Safety

• Use only sealed lead-acid, flooded, gel or lithium batteries which must be deep cycle.
• Explosive battery gases may be present while charging. Be certain there is enough ventilation to release the gases.
• Be careful when working with large lead acid batteries. Wear eye protection and have fresh water available in case there is contact with the battery acid.

How to recharge your USB/DC-Powered appliances

1. Unfold this suitcase, expose the panel to the place where it can get the most possible sunlight.
2. Angel the solar panel towards sunlight in vertical direction so that it can harvest the most possible sun energy.
3. Use the cable provided to make proper cable connection between your gears and our solar suitcase, check your device to see whether it shows up a charging sign or not, otherwise, re-plug your device or replace cable.
4. It’ll automatically deliver its possible and suitable current to your devices and stop the charging once the battery is full, by the built-in advance System controller.

Trips:

1. Please settle your devices to a cool place for better heat dissipation when charging.
2. Turn off your laptop to save the power consumption from the screen of laptop and you can shorten the charging time. You may also need to prepare an extra charging adapter for your laptop, make sure it has an DC5521 female end, if in doubts, please email us for any help. (Note: DC18V outputs is not compatible for devices equipped with PD charging standards.)
3. In the emergency case that we meet a starting problem, we can charge your 12V battery directly with the alligator clip cable then to restart your vehicles(Recommend charging time 2-3 hours only, for longer charging, we should pair with a solar regulator.If there is no regulation the batteries will be damaged from overcharging. Most batteries need around 14 to 14.5 volts to get fully charged.)

The ideal time of day
Panels operate at peak efficiency when the sun is most directly-typically around mid-day.

Sunlight and its angle
The brighter the sun is shining, and the clearer the day is, the better the panel will work. A south facing panel angle at 30-60 degrees from a flat surface will harvest the most possible solar energy.

Avoid any possible shelter
Make sure your panel are free of shade, even minor or partial shading reduce yields. Additionally, any dirt accumulated might decrease the wattage overtime, so periodically cleaning the panel from time to time is recommended.

Time of year
The amount of daylight changes from season to season, but for temporary solar charging, it is essential to know the cold weather will not negatively affect the performance of the panel as they run on light, not heat.

How to chain multiple solar suitcases together

If you prefer, you can have no more than 4 suitcases chained together, the currents are additive when suitcases are connected directly in parallel.

Steps:

1. Using the DC5525 to DC5521 extension cable AWG# 18 for chaining, plug the connector(DC5525) into the 18V port(See picture).
2. The other male connector( DC5521) go towards to the parallel port on the other solar controller box.
3. The remaining 18V port will deliver total output current for powering laptops, generators or other 18V DC-Powered devices (Note: Only for 18V ports, the output from USB ports won’t change.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Can the kit charge two or more 12V batteries connected in parallel?
A. Yes, it’s capable to do that if the batteries have the same type and capacity level and are wired in parallel(Positive to Positive, Negative to Negative).

Q. Is there any risk that the solar kit will over charge my battery?
A. There is a PM solar controller included, which protected against short circuit and overcurrent.

Q. Can I extend the DC charging cable included?
A. Yes, it’s possible – please choose the same size of cable (AWG#22) for extension. However, the longer the extension, the greater the line loss. Bigger gauge will be required for longer runs.

Q. Do I need to clean the solar panels?
A. Yes, it is recommended for better performance. Dust and dirt should first be swept off the panel surface using a soft brush. When the sweeping is complete, use a wet cloth to wipe the panel surface to remove remaining dirt and grime.

Q. Can rain damage the solar kit?
A. The waterproof coefficient of the solar panel is IP66, which is rainproof and can be immersed in water for a short time, but it is forbidden to immerse in water for a long time. Once it is short-circuited due to water immersion, please stop using it and contacting the seller.
