Network connection requirements
DEFA Balancer supports Wi-Fi (2.4 or 5GHz) and ethernet connections. DEFA
Balancer needs to be connected to the same network as the charging station.
Ethernet: Follow the steps in Installation and setup in order to connect the
Ethernet cable.
Wi-Fi: Make sure there is strong and stable Wi-Fi reception available. Connect
to the same network as the DEFA Power charging station. If necessary, make
sure the Wi-Fi password is provided prior to installation. See the
commissioning tool for further instructions on how to connect to Wi-Fi.
The owner may configure DEFA Balancer at a later point through the Power Setup
app, but it is recommended to do so during the installation.
Installation and setup
Installation
DANGER Make sure there is no power in the cable during the installation.
DANGER Use transformers supplied by DEFA that has stranded conductors,
that are tinned or crimped with a ferrule before being installed in terminal
blocks.
WARNING When installing the current sensors, connect the sensor leads to
DEFA Balancer before placing sensors on the selected power cables.
NOTICE Keep the distance between the current sensors and DEFA Balancer as
short as possible since the length of the sensor leads will affect measuring
accuracy.
-
Mount DEFA Balancer on the DIN rail.
-
Connect the sensor leads to DEFA Balancer. Input 1 and 2 measures L1, input 3 and 4 measures L2, input 5 and 6 measures L3:
-
Connect the sensors to the phases that is to be measured. Make sure the arrow on the sensor follows the current direction.
WARNING When the power is on in the facility, the current sensors must never be disconnected from the current reader if they are to be placed on- or removed from the power cables. -
Connect power to DEFA Balancer to an existing circuit branch in the installation or a separate circuit breaker (Max. 20A). The circuit breaker must be marked as the disconnection device for DEFA Balancer.
-
Check all connections and make sure all cables are connected correctly.
-
Turn the power on.
