INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
-
Ensure the grip area on the extension is clean.
-
Measure the area you wish to cover.
-
Cut the heatshrink to length.
a. Aim for a clean cut as jagged edges will show up when cut to shrink.
b. If cutting at an angle for a shaped extension, cut a rounded edge on the long side to avoid peeling up. -
Cut the double sided adhesive tape a little shorter than the length of the cut heatshrink.
-
Place the double sided adhesive tape on the grip, inside the area that will be covered by the heatshrink tape.
-
Remove the cover tape from the double sided adhesive tape.
-
Place the heatshrink tape on the grip and lightly stick it to the double sided adhesive tape.
a. Allow for shrinkage by placing the top end of the heatshrink tape so it overlaps the shifter by 1-2mm.
-
Using the heat gun or hair dryer.
a. Move the heat up and down the tape to shrink evenly.
b. Avoid staying on one spot long as this risks burning the tape.
c. Keep applying heat until the tape is tight all over the grip.
d. Note that a heat gun is faster, with more risk of burning. A hair dryer will take more time to achieve a tight fit. -
Repeat with the other side.
