Rivers Coffee Grinder Grit
The key to pouring a cup of good coffee easily is to grind the coffee beans right before pouring. Even the best beans with the perfect roast will decrease in aroma and flavor as time passes after it is ground. GRIT is a coffee grinder that will consistently bring out the best flavor from the beans. Its simple construction enables use at home or in the outdoors, and is great for camping and hiking too. Pour the best cup wherever you are. Enjoy it along with other Rivers coffee series products.
USING THE GRINDER
TAKE OFF LID AND PUT IN BEANS
Please use no more than about 20 g of coffee beans at a time. Putting too
many beans in at one time may make the handle difficult to turn or cause beans
to fly out. Add more beans only once there is enough empty space inside the
hopper to do so.
ADJUST SCREW
Turn the grain adjustment screw clockwise for finer grounds, counter-
clockwise for coarser grounds. Adjust the coarseness as desired by grinding
small amounts at a time. (For more details, please consult the Adjustment
Method section)
PUT ON LID AND TURN HANDLE
Turn the handle slowly, and in the clockwise direction.
Refrain from turning the handle counter-clockwise, as this will damage the
burrs. Bean fragments may become lodged in the space between the burrs, making
it difficult for whole beans to fall into the hopper. If rotating the handle
produces no grounds, give the grinder a light tap or shake and
resume grinding.
CARE INSTRUCTION
FOR COFFEE BEANS ONLY
This product is intended for coffee beans only. Do not use the grinder for
anything other than coffee beans. Using raw beans or damp beans will also
damage the grinder.
TURN THE SCREW WITH CARE
Turn the screw clockwise only. Refrain from turning it counter-clockwise or
too far to the right as this will cause the upper and lower burrs to make
contact, damaging them and resulting in the malfunction of the grinder.
Turning the screw forcefully can also cause damage.
KEEP CLEAN AFTER GROUNDS
Remove all coffee grounds from the catcher after use. If left in the catcher
for a long time, natural oils in the coffee beans may cause the grounds to
solidify.
OIL IS UNNECESSARY
Do not use any oils when maintaining or repairing the grinder.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Fix the lower burr onto the shaft by adjoining it with its slits. Then, attach
the grain adjustment screw.
The grain adjustment screw should attachec face down towards the burr -its
face being the side with the 8 lines.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
- The grinder cannot be taken apart. To clean the upper burr, please soak the grinder in diluted neutral detergent.
- Lower burr can be cleaned individually. When cleaning, refrain from using bleach, metal brushes, or chemical cleansers. Use a soft sponge so as to not scratch or otherwise deface the grinder. Do not put the grinder in the dishwasher.
- After cleaning, fully dry the grinder and ensure that no moisture remains.
- Keep away from children. Do not use the grinder near infants or place it where it can be reached by small children.
- Do not place the grinder near heat sources such as stoves or lit cigarettes, as it may create a fire hazard.
- Dropping the grinder or scratching it with sharp objects may cause the outer coating to peel off.
- Consult the user’s manual when dismantling or reassembling the grinder. Attempting to dismantle or assemble the grinder without due preparation may damage the grinder.
- Long term use may cause the burrs to wear or become dull. Consider replacing them if there is a significant drop in the amount of grounds the burrs can produce.
TO CARRY THE GRIT
Attach the handle to the grinder using the supplied silicon band.It should be
inserted in the correct direction to avoid any coat peeling.
