Invertek Drives IP55 Drive Cable Box

Product Information: IP55 Assembly Instructions

The IP55 Assembly Instructions provide detailed instructions for installing the IP55 Gland Box, which is required to be installed once the drive has been mounted to its final location. The Gland Box requires 450mm clearance beneath it, and the cable bend radius is dependent on local legislation and cable composition. The assembly kit comes with required tools, including a No 2 Posidrive Screwdriver, Nut runners 8mm & 10mm, and a bag of nuts and screws.

Product Usage Instructions

Before starting assembly or fitting of the IP55 drive cable box and top cover, ensure that you have all the required tools listed in the instructions. Avoid using power tools during assembly or fitting. Hand tightening fasteners using the indicated tools is sufficient, but Maximum tightening torques have been included where appropriate.

Opening the Drive

1. Loosen 10x Captive Screws and lift off the Top Cover
2. Unscrew 8x M5x10 screws from the points indicated and retain. Lift off the Cable Tray and the IO Cable Shield
3. Unclip the plastic terminal cover using the tabs at the sides. Pull both tabs inwards at the same time to release the terminal cover

Fitting IP55 Gland Box

1. Loosen 10x Captive Screws and lift off IP55 Gland Box Lid (Item F).
2. Detach the earth braid from the Cover Plate (Item F) by unscrewing the nut holding the earth braid in place. Retain the nut.
3. Unscrew 2x M5x10 Screws and remove the Cable Tray (Item G) from inside the IP55 Gland Box. Retain the Screws and the Cable Tray.
4. Unscrew 2x M5x14 Posidrive Screws from the bottom of the drive. Retain these screws as they will be used to affix the mounting brackets.
5. Attach the Mounting Brackets to the Base of the Drive using the 2x M5x14 screws removed in the previous step, max tightening torque 2Nm. If these screws are missing or lost, 2x M5x18 Screws (Item K) have been included with the supplied screw pack as spares.
6. Attach Gland Box to Drive using 6x M5x18 Screws (Item K). The three on the Right-Hand side can be seen in the image below, the same is mirrored on the Left-Hand side.
7. Affix Gland Box to Right and Left Mounting Brackets (Items B and C, respectively) with 2x M5x18 Screws (Item K). Only Right Side is shown in image. The same is mirrored on the Left Hand side.

IP55 Assembly Instructions

Installation Requirements
IP55 Gland Box must be installed once the drive has been mounted to its final location. The drive must be mounted with enough clearance beneath it for the IP55 Gland Box and the cable bend radius.
The Gland Box requires 450mm. The Cable bend radius is dependent on local legislation and cable composition.

Required Tools
The following tools are required to assemble / fit the IP55 drive cable box and top cover. This is not an exhaustive list of tools required to install the Drive. These tools are not supplied with the IP55 Kit. The use of power tools during the assembly / fitting is not recommended. Hand tightening fasteners using the indicated tools is sufficient, but Maximum tightening torques have been included where appropriate.

Opening the Drive

1. Loosen 10x Captive Screws and lift off the Top Cover

2. Unscrew 8x M5x10 screws from the points indicated and retain Lift off the Cable Tray and the IO Cable Shield

3. Unclip the plastic terminal cover using the tabs at the sides. Pull both tabs inwards at the same time to release the terminal cover

Fitting IP55 Gland Box

1. Loosen 10x Captive Screws and lift off IP55 Gland Box Lid (Item F).
   

2. Detach the earth braid from the Cover Plate (Item F) by unscrew the nut holding the earth braid in place. Retain the nut.
   

3. Unscrew 2x M5x10 Screws and remove the Cable Tray (Item G) from inside the IP55 Gland Box. Retain the Screws and the Cable Tray.

4. Unscrew 2x M5x14 Posidrive Screws from the bottom of the drive. Retain these screws as they will be used to affix the mounting brackets.

5.  Attach the Mounting Brackets to the Base of the Drive using the 2x M5x14 screws removed in the previous step, max tightening torque 2Nm. If these screws are missing or lost, 2x M5x18 Screws (Item K) have been included with the supplied screw pack as spares.
   

6. Attach Gland Box to Drive using 6x M5x18 Screws (Item K). The three on the Right-Hand side can be seen in the image below, the same is mirrored on the Left-Hand side.
   

7.  A ffix Gland Box to Right and Left Mounting Brackets (Items B and C, respectively) with 2x M5x18 Screws (Item K). Only Right Side is shown in image. The same is mirrored on the Left Hand side.
   

8. Fit the Cable Protectors (Item D) using 2x M5 Flanged Nyloc Nuts (Item I) to secure each Cable Protector. Only Right side is shown in image, left side is the same but mirrored.
   

9.  Connect Earth Braid between Drive Body and IP55 Gland Box via the indicated pillar.
   

10. Cable clamps 2x M6x35 Screws (Item L) have been included as spares. As can be seen in the image below, the 28mm Cable Clamps overlap. The position of the 28mm Cable Clamps can be changed to suit the user’s requirements. If the user wants to split up the pairs of Clamps, then the additional M6x35 Screws (Item L) has been supplied to secure each clamp with 2x M6x35 screws.
    

11. 2x M6x35 Screws (Item L) have been included as spares. As can be seen in the image below, the 28mm Cable Clamps overlap. The position of the 28mm Cable Clamps can be changed to suit the user’s requirements. If the user wants to split up the pairs of Clamps, then the additional M6x35 Screws (Item L) has been supplied to secure each clamp with 2x M6x35 screws. Plate that is fitted to the IP55 Gland Box, then they can replace it with the Blank Gland Plate (Item E) which is supplied with the IP55 Kit.
    

12. Replace Plastic Terminal Cover.
    

13.  Fit Cable Tray and Cable IO Shield into the Drive, secure in place with the 8x M5x10 screws removed earlier, max Torque 2Nm. Fit the Cable tray (Item G) into the IP55 Gland Box, secure in place with the 2x M5x10 screws removed earlier, max torque 2Nm.
    

14. Fully remove the top 2x M4x10 screws from the Cable Tray and loosen the bottom 2x M4x10 screws so that the top tray can slide.
    

15.  Extend the top tray so that it overlaps with the Cable Tray in the IP55 Gland Box. Secure the trays together using the 2x M4x10 screws removed in the previous step and the 4x M4x10 screws (Item J) supplied with the IP55 Gland Kit. Tighten all 8x M4x10 screws, max torque 1.5Nm.

16.  Fit control cables to the drive.

17. Reconnect Earth strap from the Lower Cover to the indicated Pillar, Max Torque 6Nm.

18. Refit the Lower Top Cover and tighten 10x captive screws, Max Torque 2Nm.
    

19. Reconnect Earth Strap from the IP55 Gland Box Cover to the IP55 Gland Box, max Torque 6Nm.
    

20.  Refit the IP55 Gland Box Cover and tighten 10x captive screws, max Torque 2Nm.
    

Fitting UV Hood

1. Remove Lifting Eyes from top of the Drive
2.  Loosen the Mounting Bolts that secure the top of the drive to the wall enough for the UV Hood to be fitted.
3. Fit the UV Hood
4.  Use the supplied 2x M10x25 Hex Bolts (Item N) along with the 2x M10 Spring Washers (Item O) (not depicted) and 2x M10 Flat Washers (Item P) (not depicted) to attach the UV Hood to the top of the Drive, using the holes that the Lifting Eyes were fitted to.
5.  Tighten the Mounting Bolts to fully secure the drive to the wall.
