Note : A USB keyboard and mouse are required for Wi-Fi configuration

Hard-wired Installation

Standard Installation

DMP-8122 Mounting
The DMP-8122 can be attached to the VESA bracket or the rack shelf. The VESA bracket can be mounted to different surfaces via direct screw holes, while the rack shelf attaches to a standard rack.

VESA Bracket Mounting

  1. Secure the VESA bracket directly to the desired surface using the eight screw holes and drywall screws. Refer to Figure 2.
    Note : The VESA bracket mount will indicate the correct orientation with a UP arrow. Make sure when mounting the VESA bracket that the arrow points up. Refer to Figure 2.

  2. Align the player’s keyhole screws with the two keyholes on the bracket and slide the player down to secure it.
    Note : The DMP-8122 will attach to the VESA bracket either facing up or down. Both orientations work.

  3. Follow steps 2-9 from the DMP-8122 Setup section to complete setup.

Rack Mounting

  1. Locate the player rack shelf.

  2. Attach the player to the rack shelf using the two direct screw mounts and screws. Refer to Figure 3.

  3. Remove the four screws securing the power block bracket. Refer to Figure 3.

  4. Place the power block inside the bracket.
    Note : Check that the orientation of the power block has the power cord coming out the back of the rack.
    Note : It is recommended to use the right power supply bracket, though either can be used.

  5. Reattach the power block bracket to the rack shelf. Refer to Figure 3.

  6. Secure the rack shelf to the rack.

  7. Follow Steps 5 and 6 from the DMP-8122 Setup section to reconnect power.

DMP-8122 Setup

  1. Unbox components and ensure all are present. Refer to Figure 1.

  2. Screw each antenna into the DMP-8122. Refer to Figure 4 and 5.

  3. Plug the HDMI cable into HDMI port (A) on the DMP-8122. Refer to Figure 5.

  4. Plug the other end into an available HDMI port on the display.

  5. Plug the second HDMI cable into HDMI port (B) on the DMP-8122. Refer to Figure 5.

  6. Plug the other end into HDMI 1 port on the display.
    Note : Identify which HDMI ports are used on the display as it might be necessary to switch the display to the proper input for the unit function.

  7. Plug first Serial cable to DB9 [Comm Port] connector on the player slot 1 (left) and RS232 connector on the display if using Display Control. Refer to Figure 5.

  8. Connect Display 1 RS232 Out to Display 2 RS232 In using 3.5 mm cable. Refer to System Riser Drawings & General Diagrams for detail of displays connected in series

  9. Plug the power supply cable into the power port on the DMP-8122. Refer to Figure 5.

  10. Connect Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port, if performing a hardwire installation.

  11. Connect the power cable to the power supply and plug the power supply into a power outlet. The DMP-8122 will power on.

EDID Bios Setup

  1. Restart the player and press the F2 key on the keyboard to open the bios.
  2. Navigate to the Advanced tab.
  3. Open Video settings.
  4. Select Display Emulation.
  5. Change the setting from [No display emulation] to [Persistent display emulation]. Refer to Figure 6.DAKTRONICS-DMP-8122-Power-Supply-FIG-6
  6. At the [Persistent Display Emulation Alert] page during system bootup, press B on the keyboard to learn the new EDIDs.
  7. Select [Inconsistent Display Warning].
  8. Change the setting from [Block Boot] to [Countdown]. Refer to Figure 7.
  9. Press the F10 key on the keyboard and select Yes to save configuration and exit. Refer to Figure 8.
Connect DMP-8122 to Wi-Fi

Note : These steps are NOT required if the player is connected with an Ethernet cable.

  1. Complete the steps in the DMP-8122 Setup section.

  2. Boot up – observe the boot screen.

  3. Observe the black screen.

  4. Press the Esc Key on the keyboard.

  5. Click the Network icon. Refer to Figure 9.

  6. Click Wi-Fi

  7. Select the desired network. Refer to Figure 10.

  8. Enter Wi-Fi credentials and select Connect Automatically.
    Note : Connect the player to a secure Wi-Fi network; avoid using public Wi-Fi networks.

  9. Click Connect.

Set the Intel Graphics Settings

Note : Only perform these steps if using more than a single display.

  1. Close the DMP-8000 application.
  2. Open Intel Graphics Command Center from the Start Menu and accept any license agreements.
  3. Navigate to the Display tab.
  4. Turn on the Combine Desktop setting. Refer to Figure 11.
  5. Select 60p from the Refresh Rate drop-down menu and click Keep. Refer to Figure 11.
  6. Close the application to automatically save the settings.
  7. Reopen DMP-8000 through the start menu to finish.

Configuration and Troubleshooting

The following sections detail steps used in configuration and troubleshooting. These sections may not be required for every installation, but can be used if needed.

Set the Display Profile

  1. Record the IP address and access code from the boot screen.

  2. Open DMP 8000 by going to the IP address in a web browser.

  3. Login using the default username and password.

  4. Username = Dak

  5. Password = DakPassword!
    Note : After first time login, update the login credentials with a new personalized username and password.

  6. Navigate to Config Profiles. Refer to Figure 12.

  7. Select the desired configuration for both outputs from the available options

Bezel Compensation Configuration

  1. Navigate to the Config tab in DMP-8000.

  2. Select the desired sign(s) under Outputs.

  3. Select Bezel Compensation under Display Mode. Refer to Figure 13.

  4. Check that Width and Height match the resolution of the current display(s), if not adjust. Refer to Figure 13.DAKTRONICS-DMP-8122-Power-Supply-FIG-9

  5. Check that the information for Display Resolution, Rotation, Pixel Pitch, and Display Count under Bezel Compensation are accurate. If the display has a gap, i.e. a physical space between the two displays, enter the size in px in the Gap Size section. Refer to Figure 13.
    Note : Use the Total Resolution Chart at https://daktronics.widen.net/s/qgbfxdlrk5 to help answer questions regarding the resolution and size of the display(s). If Bezel compensation is required for spanning displays, the bezel compensation pixel value needs to be added to this resolution when configuring a display in VCS. Add the bezel compensation value to the Number or Pixels Wide or High.
    Note : The Download Mask button will download a file that can be used for content creation that will show where the created gap will appear in content. This is useful when compensating for the gap while making new content for the display.

  6. Select Adjust Sign Size once the correct information has been entered.

  7. Record the Total Width and Total Height values from the bottom of the section for use in Venus Display Configuration.

  8. Select Save.

Log in to Venus Control Suite
Before first-time login, ensure that the Venus computer uses either the Chrome browser or Internet Explorer (version 11 or later) browser. Also, review the properties of the Venus computer and note the computer name.

Log In – Local Server

  1. Navigate to http://ComputerName:44300 (entering the actual computer name for ComputerName).
  2. Enter the User Name and Password into the Email and Password text boxes.
  3. Change the password in the Update Password text boxes.
  4. Update the account information in the User Information and Additional Information sections.

Log In – Hosted Server

  1. Navigate to http://venus.daktronics.com.
  2. Follow steps 2-4 in Log In – Local Server.

Connecting a Display
Displays lists all displays controlled by Venus® Control Suite. Use this function to add a new display, make changes to existing displays, or delete a display. Each display and any devices associated with that display (players and video processors), are preconfigured in a hosted server system. In a local server system, all displays and their associated devices must be added manually

  1. Navigate to the Venus App using the My Apps menu. Refer to Figure 14.
  2. Go to Displays . Refer to Figure 15.
  3. Click Add New. Add Display opens.
  4. Configure the display. Refer to Figure 16.
  5. Enter the previously recorded Total Width in Width and Total Height in Height to configure the size correctly.
  6. Select Devices.
  7. Click Add Devices With Code. Refer to Figure 17.
  8. Enter the Registration code from the boot screen. Refer to Figure 18.
