DAKTRONICS DVN-3002 Series Panel
Attach a display by using either the direct attachment or integrated clip attachment. Refer to the contract-specific Shop Drawing for additional details.
Direct Attachment
An M6 nutsert is available for direct attachment to substructure with the supplied M6x1 – 20 mm hex-head bolts (Daktronics part number HC-3464941). Refer to Figure 1. Insert one M6 bolt in each of the lower corners on each panel. Insert one M6 bolt in each of the upper corners on the bottom row of panels only. Refer to Figure 2. Refer to the contractspecific Shop Drawing.
Integrated Clip Attachment
Panels have four cutouts capable of attaching an optional integrated clip. Refer to Figure 3. Clips pass through the cutout and attach with a threaded M6 bolt. There is a 1/2″ slot for Z-axis adjustment. Refer to Figure 4.
The bottom row of panels requires one integrated clip per corner. Panels above the bottom row require one integrated clip in each of the upper corners. Prepare each panel based on its location in the display. Refer to Figure 5.
Clip Orientation
Bottom Row Clip Orientation
- Panels on the bottom row require four integrated clips. Use a flat screwdriver to pry the tab out of the chassis backsheet in the lower two corners. Refer to Figure 5 and Figure 6.
- Once the backsheet tabs have been removed, flip the orientation of the lower integrated clips toward the inside of the panel so that they do not show below the bottom border. Refer to Figure 7.
- Install an M6X10 hex button head cap screw (Daktronics part number HC-2003) through the chassis nutsert and threaded hole in the integrated clip. Set the Z-axis adjustment so that the clip is tight against the panel. This dimension can be adjusted from beneath after upper panels are installed. Refer to Figure 8.
- Orient the upper clips so they show above the top border, allowing the clip to cradle and provide an attachment point for upper panels. Backsheet tabs should remain attached. Refer to Figure 5 and Figure 9.
- Repeat Step 3 for the upper clips.
- Note: Pilot holes are recommended to aid in placement during installation. If standard 1/4″-14 screws are being used, use a pilot hole size of 13/64″ [5.16 mm]. If alternative screws are being used, find the correct pilot hole size per the hardware specified on the contract-specific Shop Drawing.
Middle Rows Clip Orientation
- Panels in the middle rows each require two integrated clips, one in each top corner. Backsheet tabs should remain attached. Orient the clips so they show above the top of the panel, allowing the clip to cradle and provide an attachment point for the panels above. Refer to Figure 5 and Figure 9.
- Install a M6x10 hex button head cap screw through chassis nutsert and threaded hole in the integrated clip. Set the Z-axis adjustment so that the clip is tight against the panel. Refer to Figure 8.
Upper Row Clip Orientation
- Panels on the top row require two integrated clips. Use a flat screwdriver to pry the tab out of the chassis backsheet in the upper two corners. Refer to Figure 5 and Figure 6.
- Once the backsheet tabs have been removed, flip the orientation of the upper integrated clips toward the inside of the panel so that they do not show above the top border. Refer to Figure 10.
- Install a M6x10 hex button head cap screw through the chassis nutsert and threaded hole in the integrated clip. Refer to Figure 8.
Panel Installation
Note: Use a level throughout this section to verify each panel is level in the X and Y directions.
Bottom Row Attachment
Note: This procedure is easiest with three people.
- Prepare for attachment to the substructure by stitching two panels together with M6x1 – 20 mm hex flange interconnect bolts. If the display is three panels wide, prepare by stitching three panels together. Ensure that panels are flush at the top and face. Refer to Figure 11.
- Position the first panels in the bottom-center of the display. Verify the location of the panel relative to the structure.
- Install the two M6 interconnect bolts through the left perimeter of the panel into the nutsert of the adjacent panel. Hand-tighten the bolts as much as possible, then use a hand tool to tighten an additional 1 to 1-1/2 turns. Adjust the panels until they are plumb and level. Refer to Figure 12 and Figure 13.
- After the center panels have been attached, work outward. Stitch adjacent panels together with M6 interconnect bolts, verify plumpness, then attach to substructure with screws.
Middle Rows Attachment
- After the first row has been attached, position the next panels above the bottom center. Attach the panels vertically using the providedM6 interconnect bolts. Hand-tighten the bolts as much as possible, then use a hand tool to tighten an additional 1 to 1-1/2 turns. Refer to Figure 12 and Figure 13.
- Use a level to verify the panels are all plumb, flat, and level to each other in the X, Y, and Z directions. Adjust Z-axis as needed. After verifying, tighten down the hardware in all applicable corners.
- Continue to build outwards to fill each row, then upwards to the next row.
Top Row Attachment
- Continue attaching panels up to the top row. Refer to Figure 14.
- Ensure that the top row of panels is level and plumb. If using the Integrated Clip Attachment method, ensure that the top row of integrated clips is oriented to not show above the top border.
- Tighten the M6x1 – 12 mm screws on top of each panel. Panels above the first row require one screw in each of the top corners.
