1. Important Information

In the interest of safety the PH3-LLT MK2 should only be used by competent suitably trained personnel after due consideration of any hazard involved.
The following symbols are used in these operating instructions and on the PH3-LLT MK2.

   Warning of electrical danger!
Indicates instructions must be followed to avoid danger to persons.

Important, follow the documentation! This symbol indicates that the operating instructions must be consulted and adhered to in order to avoid danger.

Before use, ensure that both the PH3-LLT MK2 and the LLT MK2 are clean and dry. Visually inspect all parts of the PH3-LLT MK2, if any parts are damaged do not use the PH3-LLT MK2.

Do not hold LLT (Live Line Tester) MK2 between the hand-guard and the contact electrode.

Electrical shock risk!
Do not touch terminals!

Always prove the LLT MK2 before AND after use.

Always check that the LED indicator on the proving unit is illuminated whilst testing.

If the equipment is not used in a manner specified in the manual, the protection provided may be impaired.

Do not use without battery compartment cover fitted.

Do not energise the proving unit for longer than 5 seconds, to preserve the battery.

When this symbol is attached to a product it means it is covered by the WEEE Directive.

Please familiarise yourself with the appropriate local separate collection system for electrical and electronic products. Please dispose of this product according to local regulations. 2 Environmental conditions

PH3-LLT MK2 was designed to perform tests:

  • In a dry environment.
  • At altitude of up to 2000M.
  • At temperature of 5-40oC without moisture condensation.

3. Proving

The PH3-LLT MK2 is intended to check if a LLT MK2 functions correctly.

  1. Insert each probe of the LLT MK2 inside the PH3-LLT MK2 terminals.

  2. Press down on the right terminal (closest to the battery compartment) to switch on the PH3-LLT MK2.

  3. Confirm the LED on the PH3-LLT MK2 front panel is illuminating.

  4. If LED does NOT illuminate, replace the battery by following 6 Battery Replacement instruction.

  5. If LED still does NOT illuminate, this suggests PH3-LLT MK2 is faulty. DO NOT USE.

  6. Confirm the Dual LEDs on LLT-PH3 are illuminating.
    If Dual LEDs are NOT illuminating, this suggests LLT MK2 is faulty. DO NOT USE.

  7. Disconnect both probes from the terminals after test is complete.

5. Maintenance

Clean only with a dry cloth; do not use solvents.
Before use, ensure unit is clean and dry; visually inspect test terminals and case. Any damage must be rectified to preserve user safety.

Check the battery contacts and compartment is free of electrolytic contamination.
Any contamination of the battery contacts or compartment should be cleaned with a dry cloth.

Always confirm that the LED indicator on the proving unit illuminates when the test is activated. Should the item become faulty do not open, return it to the manufacturer or an authorised Seaward Service Agent.

6. Battery Replacement

  • Disconnect all test leads.
  • Remove the battery compartment cover
  • Remove the discharged battery.
  • Insert the replacement battery into the battery compartment ensuring that the battery polarity matches the battery connector.
  • Replace the battery compartment cover.

7. Service and Calibration

To maintain the specified performance, the instrument must be verified at regular intervals by either the manufacturer or an authorised Seaward Service Agent. We recommend a calibration period of one year.
