Product Information

The Energiestation is a portable device that can be used as a power source for various electronic devices and as a jump starter for vehicles. It has a 12V DC input and output, a USB output, and a built-in air compressor for inflating tires or other inflatable items. The device has a 7.0Ah battery capacity and can be charged using a 230V charging adapter. The device also comes with starter cables and a high-pressure hose for the air compressor.

Product Usage Instructions

  1. Before using the Energiestation, make sure to wear safety gear such as safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
  2. Connect the charging adapter to the device by plugging in the adapter’s plug into the device’s input port (marked as “Netzanschlussbuchse”).
  3. Wait for the battery to fully charge, which takes approximately 8-12 hours.
  4. To use the air compressor, first connect the high-pressure hose to the device’s air outlet (marked as “Luftdurchlass”).
  5. Connect the other end of the high-pressure hose to the item that needs to be inflated.
  6. Turn on the device by turning the switch to the “ON” position (marked as “ON/OFF”).
  7. Press the “USB/TEST” button to switch between the USB output and the air compressor output.
  8. To use the jump starter function, first make sure that the device is turned off.
  9. Connect the red clamp of the starter cable to the positive terminal of the car battery and the black clamp to the negative terminal of the car battery.
  10. Turn on the device by turning the switch to the “ON” position and wait for the car to start.
  11. Once the car starts, turn off the device and remove the starter cable clamps in reverse order of how they were connected.

Normal use

The air and power station is suitable to jump start a vehicle with drained battery and to inflate car, motorcycle and bike tyres, as well as inflatable sporting goods, toys and recreation products.
Power may only be output via the 12 V car power socket and the USB port.
The air and power station is intended to be powered by the integrated
12 V battery pack. The compressor is not designed for continuous duty. This appliance is not intended to be used by children and persons with reduced mental/physical capabilities or lack of experience and/or knowl-edge. Do not allow children to play with the device. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be performed by children without supervision.
This device is not intended for commercial use.
Any other use or modification of the device is considered improper and involves significant risks. The manufacturer assumes no liability for dam-ages due to improper use.
The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by:

  • Improper connection and/or operation.
  • External forces, damage to the device and/or damage to parts of the device due to mechanical impacts or overload.
  • Any type of modifications to the device.
  • Using the device for purposes not described in this operating manual.
  • Consequential damage due to non-intended and/or improper use.

Safety

Danger to life and accidents for children!

  • Keep the device out of the reach of children. Children do not recognize the hazards this product creates!

Danger!

  • Damaged leads may cause fatal electric shock. Discontinue use if leads are damaged.

Explosion and fire hazard!

  • Keep sources of ignition (e.g. lit cigarettes) away from battery.
  • The device and the drained battery must have the same voltage (see specifications on the battery).
  • Do not use the device in rooms where explosive or flammable substances are stored (e.g. petrol or solvents).
  • Always place the device in a safe, well-ventilated area.
  • Thaw frozen batteries before starting.
  • Ensure the on-board voltage matches the input voltage (12 V DC) specified on the device to prevent a fire hazard and damage to the device.
  • The vehicle’s engine displacement must be within the approved range of the jumper leads.
  • The drained battery must be connected to the on-board power supply.
  • Only use chargers recommended by the manufacturer. Using other chargers may result in a fire.
  • Do not expose the device to direct sunlight.
  • Batteries can burst or explode if thrown into fire or exposed to extreme heat. Do not expose the device to extreme heat.

Risk of chemical burns!
Risk of eye injuries. Wear safety goggles and do not lean over the battery. The electrolyte of the drained starter battery will still be liquid in low temperatures.

Risk of electric shock!

  • Never use the cable to carry or pull the device.
  • Only unplug the cable from the outlet by the plug. The cable could be damaged.
  • Do not use device if damaged. Damage to the device or the charging cable increases the risk of electrical shock.
  • Route the electrical cable so that it is not possible to trip over them and to prevent them being damaged.
  • Maintenance work must be done by qualified electricians.
  • Avoid pouring or dripping water or other liquids over it. If water penetrates electrical devices, the risk of electric shock increases.
  • Ensure that all plugs and cables are free of moisture. Never connect the device to the mains with wet or moist hands.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the device. Immediately have the device repaired or replaced by a specialty shop if defective.
  • Do not cover the device as it may be damaged from extreme heating.
  • Immediately stop using the device if you notice smoke or an unusual odour.
  • Do not allow the clamps involved to touch.
  • Never allow the contacts of the lead connected to the battery’s positive terminal to come into contact with electrically conductive vehicle parts.
  • The vehicle bodies must not come into contact.

Danger of injury!

  • Do not modify or tamper with the product, otherwise there is an in-creased danger of injury.
  • Do not leave the device running unattended.
  • The high-pressure hose becomes hot during use. Therefore allow it to cool down before touching it and rolling it up.
  • Do not use the compressor for more than 10 minutes. Then allow it to cool down for approx. 10 minutes. Overheating and permanent damage may otherwise occur.
  • Please also note the operating instructions of connected devices.

Special notes

  • Do not inflate objects beyond the intended or specified pressure. The object could burst.
  • Never inflate larger objects such as lorry or tractor tyres, air mattresses or rubber boats. This exceeds the delivery rate, thus the run-time of the compressor.
  • The pressure specifications of the manometer are reference values. Check the pressure with a calibrated air gauge.
  • The max. pressure of 100 PSI (7 bar) will only be reached if the pump volume is not greater than 0.5 L.

Operation

Information about use

  • The storage battery should be fully charged prior to first use.
  • Regularly check the charge of the battery pack when stored for ex-tended periods.
  • Fully charge the battery pack monthly, even if the device was not used.

Charging the storage battery

  1. Connect the plug [18] of the power supply to the socket [8].

  2. Connect the power supply [19] to a 230 V mains socket.
    The charge state LED [2] will flash whilst charging.

  3. The charge status LED [2] will light up green when the battery is fully charged.
    The charging time is approx. 8 – 12 hours.

  4. After charging, disconnect the power supply from the device and the 230 V power socket.

Note!
Do not operate the device while charging!

Check charge level
Temperature fluctuations can affect battery discharge. Regularly check the charge level.

  1. Press the button [5] to activate the charge state LED [2].
  2. Press the button [5] again to deactivate the indicator and preserve the battery.

Display : Charge level

  • Verify the device is being charged correctly.
  • lights up green Device is charged and ready to use.
  • lights up yellow Charge the device soon.

Preparations

  • Ensure the battery pack of the device is charged. Do not jump start if the charge indicator is lit up red or yellow.
  • Be sure to follow the indications on jumpstarting inside the vehicles‘ operator’s manuals.
  • Set the parking brake on both vehicles.
  • Set gearstick to neutral, for automatic transmissions to P.
  • Switch off ignition on both vehicles and all devices.
  • Do not disconnect the drained battery from the vehicle’s electrical system.

Connecting
Place the jumper leads so they will not be tangled in moving parts inside the engine compartment.
Connect the terminal clamps of the leads in the following order:

  1. Positive lead (red) to positive terminal of drained battery.
  2. Negative lead (black) to a suit-able mass (e.g. engine block) on the vehicle.

Caution!
Connect this earthing point to the vehicle earth as far away from the battery as possible to avoid igniting explosive gas which may be present.
If the battery was connected with reverse polarity, an alarm will sound and the LED [7] will flash red. In this case, do not turn the “ON/OFF” dial [6]. Disconnect the clamps and connect the clamps as described above.

Starting

  1. Set the dial [6] to “ON”.
  2. Start the engine of the vehicle with the discharged battery (start for max. 8 seconds – wait at least 3 minutes between attempts).
  3. After successfully starting the engine of the vehicle with the dis-charged battery, set the dial [6] to “OFF”.

Disconnecting
Note:
Before disconnecting the jumper leads the rear and front defrost should be switched on in the vehicle with the drained battery (do not switch on vehicle lights). This will reduce possible voltage spikes whilst disconnecting and prevent damaging electrical parts.

Disconnect the terminal clamps in the following order:
Caution!
When disconnecting the jumper cables, be careful they do not come into contact with the moving parts of the engine.

  1. Negative lead (black) from earth point of vehicle with drained battery.
  2. Positive (red) battery cable.

After jumpstarting drive the broken- down vehicle for a longer distance to charge the battery. You may also recharge the battery with a charger. Fully recharge the device after using it for jump starting (see “Charging the device battery back”).

Operating the compressor
Attention!
Always wear suitable hearing protection and suitable safety glasses when using this product.

  • Check the device and the air hose [16] for damage before every use! Do not use the device if damaged!
  • Observe the maximum pressure of the item you wish to inflate and read the respective operating instructions.
  1. Remove the air hose [16] from the storage compartment [15].
  2. Select the desired valve adapter. Open the lock-on lever [17] by pushing the lock-on lever away from the air hose [16].
  3. Now attach the valve adapters and push the lever toward the air hose to lock it in place.
  4. Verify the valve adapter is tight.

Inflating tyres

  • The tyre pressure increases as the temperature rises. The recommended tyre pressure is typically specified for cold tyres (approx. 20 °C). Please refer to the owner’s manual for your vehicle.
  • Do not check the tyre pressure on warm tyres (e.g. after long trips).

Attention!
The compressor may be operated for max. 10 minutes, after which the device must cool down for 10 minutes!

  1. No valve adapter required to inflate car tyres. First remove the cap  from the tyre valve.

  2. Release the lock-on lever and place the lock-on lever [17] as far on the tyre valve as possible. Close the lock-on lever in the process.
    If the chuck [17] is correctly connected to the vehicle’s valve, the pres-sure gauge [12] will show the current tyre pressure.

  3. If this value corresponds to the recommended tyre pressure for the vehicle you can remove the chuck [17].

  4. If this value is below the recommended tyre pressure for the vehicle, set the On/Off switch [11] to “I” to switch on the compressor.
    Note: The compressor can be switched off at any time by switching the On/Off switch [11] to the “0” position.

  5. When the pressure gauge [12] shows the recommended pressure, set the On/Off switch [15] to “0” to switch off the compressor.

  6. Release the lock-on lever and remove the lock-on lever [17] from the tyre valve.

  7. Also check the air pressure with a second pressure gauge to determine the accurate value. Repeat the process if the desired air pressure has not been reached.

  8. Then replace the valve cap on the tyre valve.

Inflating sporting goods, toys and recreational products
Attention!
Observe the specifications of the manufacturer of the product. Do not use the compressor to inflate flotation devices!

Attention!
The compressor may be operated for max. 10 minutes, after which the device must cool down for 10 minutes!

  1. First read the product manufacturer‘s instructions for inflating and the approved maximum air pressure before inflating the product.

  2. Open the product‘s valve cover.

  3. Attach the corresponding valve adapter to the chuck [17] and push it into the valve of the product. If the valve adapters comes out of the valve whilst inflating, you will need to push it into the valve with your hand whilst inflating.

  4. Verify the valve adapter is securely connected to the valve by carefully pulling on it.

  5. Set the On/Off switch [11] to “I” to switch on the compressor.
    Note:
    The compressor can be switched off at any time by switching the On/Off switch [11] to the “0” position.

  6. When the pressure gauge [12] shows the recommended pressure, set the On/Off switch [11] to “0” to switch off the compressor.
    Attention!
    Observe and check the firmness of the item whilst inflating. If the item has already been overinflated, immediately interrupt the process and switch the compressor off! Attention! Excessive air pressure may cause the item to burst! Risk of personal injury and property damage!

  7. Remove the valve adapter from the item‘s valve and close the item‘s valve cap.

Non-binding pressure guidelines

Object : Pressure

  • Automotive tyre approx. 1.9 – 3.5 bar
  • Trailer tyre approx. 2.4 – 3.4 bar
  • Motorcycle tyre approx. 1.7 – 2.9 bar
  • Bicycle tyre approx. 2.0 – 4.0 bar

Using the 12 V car socket

  1. Set the dial [6] to “ON”.
  2. Connect the plug of an external device to the 12 V car socket [3].
  3. After using the external device, disconnect the 12 V car plug from the 12 V car socket.
  4. Set the dial [6] to “OFF”.

Using the 2.0 USB output socket

  1. Press the button [5] to switch on the USB port [4].

  2. Plug an external USB device to the USB port [4].
    The USB port delivers 5 V of direct current for external USB devices (e.g. lamps, fans, radios).
    Note:

  3. The USB port is not intended for data transfer.

  4. Do not connect memory sticks, MP3 player or similar data storage external appliances.

  5. Press the button [5] again to switch off the USB port [4].

Troubleshooting

Problem: Solution

  • Device isn’t working.
    • Replace or charge the battery pack.
  • Low output voltage.
    • Check the connections and charge the battery pack.
  • The On/Off switch [11] is on but the compres-sor does not start inflating.
    • Verify the battery pack is charged.
  • The device is pumping air but the tyre/item is not inflating.
    • Verify the chuck [17] is properly connected to the valve of the tyre/item.
    • Check if the tyre/product is leaking air.
  • The pressure in the tyre is less than the set pressure.
    • The tyre pressure increases as the temperature rises. The recommended tyre pressure is typi-cally specified for cold tyres (approx. 20 °C). Do not check the tyre pressure on warm tyres (e.g. after long trips). Please refer to the owner’s manual for your vehicle.
    • With large tyres such as on campers it’s advis-able to increase the pressure by 2 PSI (0.1 bar) to compensate for the high volume.

Cleaning, care and maintenance

  • Always disconnect the air and power station from the 230 V power supply and disconnect external devices before cleaning or performing maintenance.
  • Allow the device to cool down completely before cleaning.
  • To prevent corrosion, wipe off any battery fluid which may have come into contact with the clamps.
  • Keep the air inlets and outlets free from dirt and dust. Clean the device with a damp cloth.
  • Carefully wind the cables and hoses when storing the device. This will help prevent accidental damage to the cable and the device.
  • Store the machine in a clean, dry place.
  • Always store the device upright.
  • Do not store the device in areas where it is exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations! Condensation will form, which can damage the electronics!

Disposal

The packaging is made of environmentally friendly materials that can be disposed of at local recycling points. Old appliances do not belong in household waste!
Old electrical appliances contain valuable resources that can be recovered and reused in recycling processes. However, they also  contain harmful substances that must not be released into the environ-ment under any circumstances.
The crossed-out waste bin means that you are legally obliged to dispose of these devices separately from unsorted municipal waste. Disposal via the residual waste bin or the yellow bin is prohibited.
To return your used electrical appliance, please use the appropriate return and collection systems or contact the retailer from whom you purchased the product.
Batteries, rechargeable batteries and lamps that are not permanently in- stalled in appliances and for which no reuse is intended should, for safety reasons, be removed and disposed of separately before handing in the old appliance.
