SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Warning: Read the manual carefully before use. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in tool damage, physical injury and/or damage to property. Save the manual in a safe place for future reference.

  • Only nails / staples which are compatible with the tool must be used.
  • Oxygen or combustible gases must not be used as an energy source for this tool.
  • Only spare parts specified by the manufacturer must be used in order to repair the tool.
  • Repairs must only be carried out by the manufacturer’s authorized agents or by other experts, having due regard to the information given in the operating instructions.
  • Stands for mounting the tool to a support, for example to a work table, must be designed and constructed by the stand manufacturer in such a way that the tool can be safely fixed for the intended use in order to avoid the risk of injury.
  • For the maintenance and repair of the tool, only spare parts specified by the manufacturer or its authorized representative must be used.
  • Check prior to each operation that the safety and triggering mechanism is functioning properly and that all nuts and bolts are tight.
  • Do not modify the tool in any way.
  • Do not operate the tool if it is damaged in any way.
  • Do not operate the tool unless all parts are correctly installed.
  • The tool must be serviced properly and at regular intervals in order to ensure optimum performance.
  • Avoid damaging the tool and protect it from impacts with hard objects.
  • Risk of electric shock: Do not expose a compressor to rain. Store it indoors. The compressor must be grounded. Do not use grounding adaptors.
  • Risk of personal injury: Do not direct compressed air from the air hose toward yourself or other persons.
  • Risk of bursting: Do not adjust the pressure switch or safety valve for any reason. They have been preset at the factory. Tampering with the pressure switch or the safety valve may cause personal injury or property damage.
  • Risk of burns: The pump and the manifold generate high temperatures. In order to avoid burns or other injuries, do not touch the pump, the manifold, or the transfer tube while the compressor is running. Allow the parts to cool down before handling or servicing. Keep children away from the compressor at all times.
  • Risk of bursting: Make sure the regulator is adjusted so that the compressor outlet pressure is set lower than the maximum operating pressure of the tool. Before starting the compressor, pull the ring on the safety valve to make sure the valve moves freely. Drain water from the tank after each use. Do not weld or repair the tank. Relieve all pressure in the hose before removing or attaching accessories.
  • Always ensure that the workpiece is firmly secured leaving both hands free to control the tool.
  • Always keep the tool clean and lubricated. Daily lubrication is essential to avoid internal corrosion and possible failure.
  • Do not overload the tool. Allow the tool to operate at its optimum speed for maximum efficiency.

Safety during operation

  • While operating the tool, do not point it at yourself or at any other person or animals.
  • Hold the tool during operation in such a way that no injuries can be caused to the head or to the body in the event of possible recoil which can occur upon disruption of the energy supply or if the tool comes into contact with hard objects.
  • Never press the trigger into free space. This will avoid any hazard caused by ejected nails / staples.
  • The tool must be disconnected from the compressed air system before it is transported.
  • Carry the tool only by the handle and never with the trigger pressed.
  • Take conditions at the workplace into account. Nails / staples can penetrate thin work pieces or slip off corners and edges of workplaces, and thus put peopleat risk.
  • For personal safety, use protective equipment such as hearing and eye protection.

Compressed air system (fig. 1)

  • For proper operation of the tool, an adequate quantity of filtered, dry compressed air is required.
  • If the air pressure in the compressed air system exceeds the maximum allowable of the tool, a pressure reducing valve followed by a downstream safety valve must additionally be fitted in the compressed air line powering the tool.
  • When compressed air is generated by compressors, the natural moisture in the air condenses and collects as condensed water in the system. This condensate must be removed by water separators. These water separators must be checked on a daily basis and if necessary drained, since corrosion can otherwise develop in the compressed air system and in the tool which causes the rate of wear to accelerate.
  • The compressor must be adequately dimensioned in terms of pressure output and performance (volumetric flow) for the consumption which is to be expected. Pipes which are too small in relation to the length of the pipe as well as overloading the compressor will result in pressure drops.
  • Do not exceed the maximum or minimum pressures. Operating the tool at the wrong pressure (too low or too high) will cause excessive noise or rapid wear of tool.

OPERATION

  • Connection to the compressed air system
  • Ensure that the pressure supplied by the compressed air system does not exceed the maximum allowable pressure of the tool.
  • Set the air pressure initially to the lower value of the recommended allowable pressure.
  • Empty the magazine to prevent a nail / staple from being ejected at the next stage of work in the event that internal parts of the tool are not correctly installed following maintenance and repair work or transportation.
  • Connect the tool to the compressed air supply using a suitable pressure hose equipped with quick action connectors.
  • Check for proper functioning by applying the muzzle of the tool to a piece of wood or wooden material and pressing the trigger once or twice.

Filling the magazine

  • Fill the magazine only with nails / staples compatible with the tool.
  • When filling the magazine, hold the tool so that the muzzle is not pointing towards the operator or any other person or animals.

Proper use

  • Having checked that the tool is functioning correctly, apply the tool to a workpiece and press the trigger.
  • Check whether the nail / staple has been driven into the workpiece in accordance with the requirements.
    • If the nail / staple is protruding, increase the air pressure in increments of 0.6 bar, checking the result after each new adjustment.
    • If the nail / staple is driven into an excessive depth, reduce the air pressure in increments of 0.6 bar until the result is satisfactory.
  • You should endeavor in any event to work with the lowest possible air pressure in order to conserve energy, produce less noise and reduce the rate of wear of the tool.
  • Avoid pressing the trigger if the magazine is empty.
  • Any defective or improperly functioning tool must immediately be disconnected from the compressed air supply and sent to the manufacturer or an authorized dealer of the manufacturer for inspection and repair.
  • Always disconnect the tool from the compressed air supply and empty the magazine before taking a break and after having stopped work with the tool.
  • The compressed air connectors of the tool and the hoses should be protected against contamination, the ingress of coarse dust chips, sand etc. Such contamination will result in leaks and damage to the tool and the couplings.
  • Disconnect the tool from the compressed air source before loading nails / staples.
  • Do not point the tool towards yourself or others while changing nails / staples.
