Scale Overview
LED Indicators
Sound Notification
The Pearl Model S now comes with sound notifications to enhance your brewing
experience. Hear the weight and time notified at fixed intervals to help you
focus on your brewing workflow. Personalize sound notification modes in
Advanced Settings.
Battery Charge
You can use the included USB Type-C charger cable to connect the Pearl Model S to a USB port for charging. Fully charged and with normal use, the scale can be used continuously for about 16-40 hours.
The Acaia Pearl Model S is equipped with charging protection to avoid charging under high temperatures. It is normal if the scale does not charge when its surface is still hot from brewing coffee. Battery charging function will be enabled again when the scale has cooled.
Advanced Settings
The Acaia Pearl Model S includes all the important modes to suit your coffee brewing needs. Out-of-the-box settings include the most essential modes: Weighing Only Mode, Dual Display Mode, and Brewguide Mode. In Advanced Settings, explore and enable brewing modes with features such as auto-start, auto-tare, and countdown timer. You can also tailor the scale according to your preference by changing the system settings. Examples include adjusting the screen brightness and the auto-off timer setting.
To access Advanced Settings: when the scale is powered off, press and hold while the LED display shows “Settings”. Continue holding until the battery level is displayed, the scale will then enter the settings menu automatically.

Brewing Modes at a Glance
Mode 1 – Weighing Only Mode
The weight-only mode is for all weighing purposes. Press and hold T to select
a gram or ounce as your weighing unit.
Mode 2 – Dual Display Mode
With dual display of timer and weight, this mode is made for all your coffee
brewing needs, with manual control for timer and tare functions.
Mode 3 – Pour-Over Auto-Start Timer Mode
This mode is designed to aid pour-over coffee brewing. The scale will detect
the start of the flow from kettle into carafe and automatically start the
timer function; the timer stops when the brewing equipment has been removed
from the scale. When the carafe is removed from the scale, the display flashes
the final beverage weight.
Mode 4 – Portafilter Mode
This mode is designed to speed up the workflow of accurately weighing coffee
grounds in a portafilter. The scale automatically tares the portafilter and
allows for the adjustment of the ground coffee. The mode will reset 15 seconds
after removing the portafilter to enable weighing for the next shot.
Mode 5 – Espresso Mode
This mode is designed to aid espresso extraction. The scale automatically
tares the weight of the vessel. It will then detect the start of the flow of
espresso into the vessel and automatically start the timer function; the timer
stops when the flow of espresso into the vessel stops.
Mode 6 – Flowrate Mode
Designed for pour-over coffee brewing. The display includes timer, flowrate,
and weight.
Mode 7 – Brewguide Mode
A step-by-step interactive guide to brewing coffee. Simply use the Acaia
Brewguide app to download the recipe to your Pearl Model S. In the Brewguide
app, you can also discover guides created by roasters around the world.
Mode 8 – Countdown Mode
The countdown mode is a customizable timer. Personalize your timer with 3
adjustable presets and over 30 melodious tunes. Note that only one timer can
be active at the same time.
Timer Adjustment
Press and hold T until the minutes start blinking to adjust the timer. Tap T
to increase the current value. Press and hold T to scroll faster. Tap to
confirm.
Calibrating Your Scale
The Acaia Pearl Model S is a precision instrument and we recommend regular calibration with frequent use. To perform a smart calibration, select Weighing Only Mode, switch the unit to grams, and follow the steps below:
Note:
You may also use 100 g, 500 g, 1000 g or 2000 g weights. If you use weights
other than Acaia Weights, we recommend F2 class standard calibration weights.
Caution
- Do not charge when the scale is wet.
- Do not place hot objects directly on the weighing pan. Use a heat-resistant coaster.
- Any modification made without the consent of the manufacturer may result in damage to scale.
- Avoid using the scale near very strong magnetic fields.
