Installing Your Appliance

Follow the installation instructions provided in the guide to properly install and locate the refrigerator before use.

LOCATION
When selecting a position for your unit, ensure the floor is a flat, level surface and the room is well ventilated.
Avoid locating your unit near a heat source, such as an oven, stove-top, boiler, or radiator. Avoid direct sunlight,as it may increase the unit’s electrical consumption.
Extremely cold ambient temperatures may also prevent the unit from operating effectively. This unit is not designed for use in a garage or outdoor installation. Do not place any covering (such as a drape or sheet) on the unit.
When installing the unit, ensure that a minimum of 4 inches of free space is left at both sides and in the rear, and 2 inch at the top of the unit. This will allow cold air to circulate around the refrigerator and improve the efficiency of the cooling process.
The refrigerating system in this refrigerator is a “Frost Free” system. This type of system requires no user intervention (i.e. defrosting) other than selecting required cooling temperatures and the usual care and maintenance.
This unit is a FREE-STANDING INSTALLATION ONLY, and is NOT intended to be built-in. In the final installation location, the unit’s door must be able to open fully and without posing any safety risk.

LEVELING THE UNIT
It is very important to keep the unit level so that the door will close properly and prevent problems that will cause effective cooling to fail. To level the unit, turn the adjustable legs clockwise or counterclockwise to raise or lower the corner.

Note: If the unit is not level, the door and magnetic seal alignments will not be covered properly.

IMPECCA-RS-2265-21.2-CU-FT-Side-by-Side-Refrigerator-1

Note: By design, doors shut automatically within a 20° opening arc.

Install this appliance in an area where the ambient temperature is between 55°F (13°C) and 110°F (43°C).
If the temperature around the appliance is too low or high, cooling ability may be affected.

CLEANING BEFORE USE
Wipe the inside of the unit with a weak solution of baking soda (bicarbonate). Then rinse with warm water using a damp sponge or cloth. Wash the shelves and bins in warm soapy water and dry completely before putting back in the unit. Clean the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. The refrigerator must be plugged into its own dedicated 115 Volt electrical outlet.
Performance may be affected if the voltage varies by 10% or more. Operating the refrigerator with insufficient power can damage the compressor. Such damage is not covered under your warranty. The power cord of the appliance is equipped with a three-prong grounding plug for your protection against electrical shock hazards. It must be plugged directly into a properly grounded threeprong receptacle. The receptacle must be installed in accordance with local codes and ordinances. Do not use an extension cord or adapter plug. You must make sure all three prongs are in a 3-pronged outlet (see figure).

WARNING: Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or service person if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded.

NORMAL OPERATING SOUNDS

UNDERSTANDING THE SOUNDS YOU MAY HEAR
Your new, high-efficiency unit may introduce unfamiliar sounds.
These sounds normally indicate your appliance is operating correctly.
Some surfaces on floors, walls, and kitchen cabinets may make sounds more noticeable.

Following is a list of major components in your unit and the sounds they make.

  1. Evaporator — Refrigerant through the evaporator may create a boiling or gurgling sound.

  2. Evaporator Fan — You may hear air being forced through the refrigerator by the evaporator fan.

  3. Defrost Heater — During defrost cycles, water dripping onto the defrost heater may cause a hissing or sizzling sound.
After defrosting, a popping sound may occur.

  4. Compressor — Modern, high-efficiency compressors run much faster than in the past. The compressor may have a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound.

  5. Drain Pan (not removable) — You may hear water dripping into the drain pan during the defrost cycle.

  6. Motorized Damper — May produce intermittent humming during operation.
NOTE: Energy efficient foam in your refrigerator is not a sound insulator.

NOTE : During the automatic defrost cycle, a red glow in the back wall vents of your freezer compartment is normal.

| •      Door was closed too hard, causing the other door to open slightly.

•      Refrigerator is not level. It rocks on the floor when moved slight- ly.

•      Refrigerator is touching a wall or cabinet.

|

•      Close both doors gently.

•      Ensure the floor is level and solid, and can adequately support the refrigerator. Contact a carpenter to correct

•      a sagging or sloping floor.

Drawers are difficult to move.

|

•      Food is touching the shelf on top of the drawer.

•      Door track is dirty.

| •      Remove the top layer of items in the drawer.

•      Ensure the drawer is properly installed on track.

•      Clean drawer, rollers, and track. See Care & Cleaning.

RUNNING OF REFRIGERATOR

Compressor does not run.

| •      Freezer control is set to “OFF” or “0”.

•      Refrigerator is in the defrost cy- cle.

•      Plug at the electrical outlet is disconnected.

•      House fuse blown or tripped circuit breaker.

•      Power outage.

| •      Set freezer control.

•      This is normal for a fully automatic defrost refrigerator. The defrost cycle occurs periodi- cally, lasting about 30 minutes.

•      Ensure the plug is tightly pushed into the outlet.

•      Check/replace fuse with a 15 amp time-de- lay fuse. Reset circuit breaker.

•      Check house lights. Call the local electric company.

Refrigerator runs too much or too long.

|

•      Room or outside weather is hot.

•      Refrigerator/freezer gasket is dirty, worn, cracked, or poorly fitted.

•      Condenser is dirty.

| •      It’s normal for the refrigerator to work longer under these conditions.

•      Ensure refrigerator is level. Keep food and contents from blocking the door. See

•      PROBLEM column OPENING/CLOSING

•      OF DOORS/DRAWERS.

•      Set Refrigerator control to warmer setting until refrigerator temperature is satisfactory. Allow 24 hours for

•      Clean condenser. See Care & Cleaning.

Compressor goes off and on frequently.| •      Thermostat keeps the refrigera- tor at a constant temperature.| •      This is normal. Refrigerator goes on and off to keep temperature constant.
DIGITAL TEMPERATURE DISPLAY

Digital temperature dis- plays are flashing.| •      Electronic control system has detected a performance problem.| •      Call your Frigidaire service representative, who can interpret any messages or number codes flashing on the digital displays.
