Types of absorbers A1 absorber with rope lanyard , A2 – absorber with elastic strop fastening element A3 – webbing lanyard with integrated absorber, A4 – absorber with adjustable rope lanyard.
Description of parts: 1-lorge opening connector, 2-rope lanyard element 3-rope absorber element, 4-corobiner, 5 – elastic rope lanyard element, 5-rope lanyard element with integrated absorber element 7-rope lanyard element adjustment buckle,
Read the instructions for use carefully before using the harness to become familiar with it and use it responsibly Activity at heights involves serious risks that ore not high lighted in this manual. Each user shall be responsible for managing said risks, their own safety, their actions and their consequences. Users who are not prepared to assume these conditions or do not understand this manual must not use th is equipment.
DESCRIPTION
An energy absorber is o component or element of o fall arrest system designed
to dissipate the kinetic energy deve loped during o fall from a given height
The lrudek energy absorber is manufactured with polyester tape , the
integrated ropes ore mode of polyamide 0 12mm diameter and the connectors and
metallic elements ore made of steel or aluminium In thecase of the Arimo
range, the rope is mode of polyamide a 10.5mm diameter and the polyester tape
is 30mm, Energy absorbers ore used either integrated with o lanyard , anchor
line or fall arrest harness or in combination with one of them
The use of the energy absorber with a fall arrester subsystem shall be
compatible with the instruct ions for use of each component of the system and
with the Standards: EN 353-1+A1:2017, EN 353-2:2002, EN 354:2011, EN 357
:2002, EN 352:2005,
The combination of an energy absorber and a lanyard is a subsystem which, when
connected too fall arrest harness conforming to EN 361 :2002, constitutes one
of the fall arrest systems specified in EN 353:2018
lrudek absorbers ore classified as PPE [Personal Protective Equipment] in
accordance with EU Regulation 2015/425 on PPE and conform to European Standard
EN 355:2002 (energy absorbers].
The declaration of conformity is available t the following link:
http://www.irudel.com
LIMITATIONS ON USE
The equipment must be individually attributed too person The maximum nominal
load of the absorbers is 100 kg , except for the Astun model which is
certified for 140 l<g, in both cases including the material.
It is recommended that the anchorage point where the tall arrest system will
be attached is above the user, The anchorage point must have o minimum static
strength of 12 kN and must conform to the requirements of EN 795:2072,
Personal protective equipment must not be used by persons whose state of
health may affect the safety of t he user in normal use or in an emergency
Personal protective equipment must only be used by a person trained and
competent in its sate use.
USE
The absorber has connectors on its terminals, which ore used as connection
points to the fall arrest system,
It con be used in the following way:
- Rope energy absorber: t he absorber may be permanently attached to o rope, but only by the manufacturer. However, the user may connect the energy absorber to the rope using connectors conforming to EN 352:2005,
- Energy absorber with harness: the energy absorber may be permanently incorporated into 0 harness, sewn to one of the harness anchorage points, but only by the manufacturer, However, the user may connect the energy absorber to the harness using connectors conforming to EN 352:2005,
- Energy absorber with fall arrester: the energy absorber may be permanently incorporated into a fall arrester, sewn to one of the anchorage points of the fall arrester, but on ly by t he manufacturer. However, t he user may connect the energy absorber to t he life line using connectors conforming to EN 362:2005 .
The total length of □ subsystem consisting of on energy absorber with integrated lanyard, its terminals and connectors shall not exceed 2 metres.
Check the minimum clearance below the user’s feet. so that in the event of a fall there is no collision with the ground or other obstacle in the path of the fa ll. With o fall length of 4 metres [most unfavorable case), the free fall distance required is: is the stopping distance + 1 metres safety distance, where the stopping distance is the length of the equipment [absorber+ lanyard + connectors) x 2+ 1.75 metres. Using 2 meter equipment the free fall distance would be 6.75m [2×2+ 1.75+ 1).
When using the equipment ensure thot it is not positioned in such a way that the user can trip over it.
The use of lanyards with integrated manual locking connectors is only advisable if the user does not hove to open and close the connector several times during the working day.
A fall arrest harness is the only acceptable body restraint device that con be
used in a fall arrest system
The fall protection system must only be connected to the harness connection
points which ore marked with the “A” capital letter. The identification “A/2″,
indicates that two connection points with the some identification must be
connected at the same time. It is forbidden to connect the protection system
to □ single connection point which is identified by”A/2”.
The connection to the anchor point and to other equipment must be mode by means of carabiners according to EN 362:2005.
For use with fall arresters EN 353-1+A1:2D17, EN 353-2:2002
it is recommended to connect the equipment to the front anchorage point of the harness. For use with energy absorbers EN 355:2002 or fall arresters EN 360:2002 it is recommended to connect the equipment to the dorsal ancharage point of the harness.
CHECKS BEFORE USE
The user must perform 0 visual and functional inspection of the equipment
components before it is used, ensuring that there ore no signs of damage,
excess wear, corrosion, abrasion, damage mused by ultraviolet radiation, cuts
or improper use. Special core must be taken when inspecting strops, seams,
anchoring rings, buckles and adjusting components.
If any defects, anomalies or damage ore found in the personal protection
equipment that entail a loss of protection, it must be removed from use.
CHECKS DURING USE
While using the equipment pay special attention to any hazardous circumstances that may affect equipment performance and user safety, including the following:
- Any labelling on the safety components.
- Accidental contact with sharp edges.
- Various types of damage, such as cuts, abrasion and/ or corrosion.
- The negative effect of weather conditions
- “Pendulum” foils,
- Effects of extreme temperatures.
- Effects after contact with chemical products
- Electrical conductivity.
