Introduction

Thank you! For purchasing a Firstech system for your vehicle. Please take a minute to review this entire manual. Note that this manual applies to the 2WR5 remote compatible with select ALARM IT, START IT, or MAX IT systems. There are certain features listed in this manual that may not be available for your system. There may also be features listed in this manual that require additional installation or programming before they are active.
NOTE: 2WR5 REMOTES MUST BE POWERED ON BEFORE 1st USE! HOLD START BUTTON FOR 6 – 8 SECONDS TO POWER ON!

Warranty Coverage

  Caution: The Manufacturer’s warranty will be voided if this product is installed by anyone other than an Authorized Firstech dealer. For complete warranty details visit www.compustar.com or the last page of this manual. Firstech remotes carry a 1 year warranty from original date of purchase. The Compustar Pro 2WR5R-SF remote carries a 3 year warranty.
Warranty registration can be completed online by visiting www.compustar.com. Please complete the registration form within 10 days of purchase. We do not include a mail in warranty registration card with each unit – registration must be done online. To verify that an authorized dealer installed your system, we highly recommend that you keep a copy of the original proof of purchase, such as the dealer invoice in a safe place.

Remote Basics

Battery Charging
Please charge the 2WR5R-SF with the included micro-USB cable and a USB wall adapter. USB adapters rated at or above 2.5A and unregulated 12-volt (car charger) USB charging cables are not recommended. A full charge will take approximately 2 hours. Estimated battery life is 30-45 days with normal use. All LED lights will flash to indicate the remote is charging. Once all 4 LED lights are solid, the remote is fully charged.

NOTE: if the remotes battery dies before you can connect it to a charger you will need to power the remote back up once charging is complete (See Page 3).
Valet Mode
When servicing or loaning your vehicle to others, the system should be placed in Valet Mode. Valet Mode prevents the system from remote starting and disables all alarm functions.
IMPORTANT: While in Valet mode the remote will still control power lock and unlock systems. The parking lights will not flash.
Entering Valet Mode:

  1. While holding the foot brake, cycle the key to the Ignition or ‘On’ position and then back to the ‘Off’ position 5 times within 10 seconds. The parking lights will flash once indicating that the system has entered Valet Mode.
  2. Go to the Ignition or ‘On’ position, then to the “off” position, then back “on”. Press and release the foot brake of the vehicle 3 times. After a short period of time the vehicle parking lights should flash 1 time indicating it has entered Valet Mode.

Exiting Valet Mode:
Go to the Ignition or ‘On’ position, then to the “off” position, then back “on”. Press and release the foot brake of the vehicle 3 times. After a short period of time the vehicle parking lights should flash 2 times indicating it has exited Valet Mode.

Remote programming procedure

The Firstech Control Module (CM) installed in your vehicle will support up to 4 remotes at a time. NOTE: Once all 4 remote banks are programmed each new remote that is programmed will delete a previously programmed remote
IMPORTANT: All remotes must be coded to the control module prior to performing all operations Remote programming procedure for Standard Key start vehicle:
STEP 1: Activate programming mode by manually turning the vehicle’s key between Ignition on and off (or the Acc & On positions) five times within 10 seconds. The vehiclparking lights will flash once with the successful completion of this step.
STEP 2: Within a 10 second period after the 5th ignition cycle tap (a quick 0.5 secondpress and release) the “Engine Start Stop” button on the R5 remote. The parking lights will flash once to confirm the transmitter has been coded. Repeat step 2 for each additional remote, up to 4. Note: if you have 2 remotes, please program each remote twice.
NOTE: If no valid remotes are programmed the CM will enter valet mode.

Remote programming procedure: PTS (Push to Start vehicles) application:
STEP 1: Set the vehicle to the ignition or “ON” position
STEP 2: Within 5 seconds push to the “OFF” position
STEP 3: Within 5 seconds set the vehicle to the ignition or “ON” position (do not start)
STEP 4: Within 5 seconds depress and release the foot brake 3 times parking lights will flash 1 time to indicate remote programming is enabled
STEP 5: Tap (a quick 0.5 second press and release) the “Engine Start Stop” button on the R5 remote
the parking lights will flash 1 time indicating the remote code has been accepted (Repeat step 5 for each additional remote, up to 4
STEP 6: After 10 seconds of no valid remote codes being transmitted the CM will automatically exit programming mode
NOTE: If no valid remotes are programmed the CM will enter valet mode.

2WR5 Button functions

Will flash when transmitting to indicating the lock/arm command has been

Alarm alerts/Notifications

The 2WR5 remote operates in “Full Alarm Mode”. This allows the remote to be used with any of our systems that support security features, remote start features or both security and remote start features!
The 2WR5 is always set to “Full Alarm Mode” and cannot be changed. Remotes in “Full alarm mode” will receive alarm alerts/notifications (when within range of the vehicle) if the alarm system is triggered.
NOTE: your Firstech security system is equipped with a “soft disarm” feature which means 1 unlock/disarm command will only silence or shut off the siren once it has been triggered. A 2 nd unlock/disarm command is required to completely disarm and unlock the vehicle. This is designed to protect your vehicle against a person who may try and trigger the security system in order to get the user to disarm and unlock the vehicle temporarily which could allow the vehicle to be easily opened.

Remote User Features Settings:

To enter the user feature settings, you will tap (tap = quick ½ second press and release) then HOLD the button for 5 seconds. The remote will beep to indicate it has entered the user feature selection

  • To toggle, or select options you will tap or tap and hold the button based on the feature option you want to change (please see user feature options)
  • To exit the feature settings, wait for the remote to exit automatically.

Proximity Unlocking feature Enable/Disable
The proximity unlocking feature is set to the on position by default, but it can be disabled or enabled anytime from the remote.
Note: Activating the proximity function with one remote will activate the function for all proximity compatible remotes that are programmed to the vehicle.

Remote Start Error Diagnostic

If the remote start fails to start the vehicle, the parking lights will flash three times immediately. Following those three flashes the parking lights will flash again corresponding to the error table.

2 Way remotes will display the error number “Start Err##” on the LCD.

Remote Start Shutdown Error Codes

If the remote start sequence has been completed and the vehicle shuts down, the vehicle’s parking lights will flash 4 times, pause then flash again with the error code.

Remote Start Reservation Mode Diagnostic Codes

If the remote start sequence has been completed and the vehicle shuts down, the vehicle’s parking lights will flash 4 times, pause then flash again with the error code. After reservation mode failure, tap the Start/Stop button to initiate the shutdown error codes.

Alarm Diagnostics

While the alarm is armed, the LED will blink slowly. While the siren is going off, the LED will indicate which specific zone was triggered until the vehicle ignition is turned on.

Upon disarming the alarm after it has been triggered, the amount of siren chirps will indicate the specific zone.

Limited Lifetime Warranty

Firstech, LLC Warrants to the original purchaser that this product shall be free of defects in material and workmanship under normal use and circumstances for the period of time that the original owner of this product owns the vehicle in which it is installed; except that the remote controller unit for the period of one year from the date of installation to the original owner of this product. When the original purchaser returns the product to the retail store where it was purchased or prepaid postal to Firstech, LLC., 21903 68th Avenue South, Kent, WA 98032, USA within the warranty period, and if the product is defective, Firstech, LLC, will at its option repair or replace such.
