  • The product is only intended for private, personal use and is not suitable for commercial use.

  • Only use parts and accessories recommended by the manufacturer, otherwise there is a risk of personal injury and/or material damage.

  • Risk of suffocation! Keep the packaging materials out of the reach of children.
    This product can be used by children from 8 years of age and by persons with physical, sensorial or mental disabilities, or persons who lack experience or knowledge, if they are supervised or receive instructions concerning the safe use of the product and understand the risks involved. Keep children under supervision to make sure they do not play with the product. Do not allow children to clean or maintain the product without supervision.

  • Do not use the product in explosive environments, for example near flammable liquids, gas or dust.

  • Do not use the product near a naked flame, sparks or other sources of heat.

  • Do not expose the product to water or any other liquid. Never immerse the product in water or any other liquid.

  • Do not expose the product to rain, splashing or moisture.

  • Do not use the product in wet conditions, or where it can be exposed to bad weather.

  • Do not place an object containing water on the product, for example a vase of flowers.

  • Do not cover the product with newspapers, cloths or curtains, etc.

  • Do not expose the product to heat or direct sunlight.

  • Do not use the product if its cabling or any of its components are damaged.
    The product must only be repaired by an authorised service centre or other qualified personnel before it is used.

  • Do not dismantle the product or attempt to modify, or repair it or its cabling. If the cabling does not suit the connections in the vehicle in which it is to be installed, the cabling must be modified by the manufacturer, an authorised service centre, or other qualified personnel before the product is installed.

  • Check the following before connecting the product.

    • Check that the product and all its parts are undamaged. If the product is damaged it must be returned to the retailer to be checked and repaired.
    • Check that the voltage in the electrical system in the vehicle complies with the rated voltage on the type plate.
  • Do not dismantle the product or attempt to modify, or repair it. The product must only be dismantled, checked and repaired by the retailer, or by other qualified personnel.

  • The product must only be used in vehicles with a 12 VDC electrical system. NOTE: Never connect the product to an electrical system with another voltage (for example 6 VDC or 24 VDC).

  • Follow local laws and regulations concerning the use of the product when driving.

  • Be aware of the risk of being distracted if the product is used when driving. Lack of concentration when driving can result in serious traffic accidents. It is always the driver who is responsible for the safe use of the vehicle.

  • Do not use the product in difficult and/or risky driving conditions, for example in bad weather, dangerous or busy traffic.

  • Play with moderate volume. Very high volume can make it impossible to hear noise from the surroundings and traffic, which can result in traffic accidents.

  • Prolonged exposure to high volume (especially in earphones) can cause a permanent hearing impairment.

  6. Put the holder (3) in the dashboard and use the fasteners that suit the thickness of the dashboard. Bend in the fastener to fix the holding sleeve in the dashboard.

  7. Check before fitting the decorative frame (2) that it is right side up – the thicker hooks should be at the bottom.

DISMANTLING

  1. Remove the removable front panel.
    See section Use – Fastening and removing front panel.

  2. Put the hooks on the removal tool in the holes on each side of the decorative frame and pull it out.

  3. Put the removal tool in the slots on each side and then follow the instructions indicated with the arrows on the right.

CONNECTION

Standard procedure

  1. Switch off the ignition, remove the key and disconnect the negative lead from the car battery.
  2. Connect the inputs and outputs on the product.
  3. Put the product in the vehicle.
  4. Reconnect the negative lead to the battery.
  5. Press the reset button on the product.

WARNING!

  • The product can only be connected and used in vehicles with a negatively earthed 12 V electrical system.
  • If the ignition lead (red) and battery lead (yellow) are connected to the chassis (earth) this can result in a short circuit and fire. Always connect these leads to the power supply via fuses.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal on the car battery and complete all the electrical connections before installing the main unit in the vehicle.
  • Insulate non connected leads with electrical tape or in some other safe way. Do not remove the end caps from the ends of leads or terminals not used
    • risk of short circuit.
  • Double check after installation that the product is correctly earthed to the chassis.
  • If the product does not start this could be because of a short circuit in a speaker lead, or because a speaker lead is touching the chassis (earth), which trips the safety function on the product. Check the speaker leads for this reason.

IMPORTANT:

  • If the ignition switch in the vehicle does not have ACC mode the ignition leads must be connected to a power source that switches on and off with the ignition key. The battery can be discharged if the ignition leads are connected to continuously live power source.

  • The product is intended to be installed in the dashboard or centre console. Check that the removable panel is not obstructed by any covers on the dashboard or centre console when they are closed or opened.

  • Check after installation and connection that the brake lights, indicators, windscreen wipers and other electrical equipment are still working.

  • The product should be installed at an angle of no more than 30°.

  • If the fuse trips, first check that no uninsulated wires are touching each other or the chassis (earth) to cause a short circuit. Replace the fuse with a new one of the same type.

  • Connect the speaker leads to the correct speaker terminals. The product can be damaged or stop working properly if the leads are short circuited or come in contact with metal parts in the vehicle.

  • If the hi-fi system only has two speakers, both of them must be connected to either the front or back speaker outlets.
    Do not confuse front and back outlets.

  • Allow a professional technician to install the product if you do not have the necessary know-how and experience.

  • Contact the retailer if you have any problems or are in doubt about the installation.

NOTE:

  • Do not expose the removable front panel to direct sunshine, heat or naked flame. Do not exposethe front panel to dust, rain, splashing or moisture.
  • Store the front panel in its case.
  • The front panel is sensitive to knocks and blows.
  • Do not touch the connectors on the main unit or front panel – risk of damage and/or contamination.

RESET

Press the reset button (A) if the product is not working properly. The product is then reset to default settings. The reset button is behind the front, which is removed as per steps 1 and 2.

Explanation of buttons and controls

Menu settings

  1. Press and hold the Symbol button to go to system menu.
  2. Press Symbol repeatedly to browse to the item to be set.

Alternative frequencies (AF)| ON: Automatic search for station with the same programme type as the one set, but with stronger signal.

Traffic Announcement (TA)| ON: Automatic search for station with the same programme type as the one set, but with stronger signal.
OFF: Alternative frequency search off. Alternative frequency search off.
Traffic Announcement (TA)| ON: TA is activated – if a traffic announcement is sent the product switches automatically from the set radio mode to receive the traffic information. When the traffic announcement ends there is an automatic return to the previous mode.
OFF: TA is not activated
– the product does not respond when a traffic announcement is sent.
Clock time (CT)| ON: If a RDS signal (Radio Data System) is received the product sets the time automatically.
OFF: CT mode is deactivated. No setting of the time takes place.
Local/remote| Setting of radio signal sensitivity – receive a small number of local (strong signal) stations, or more remote (weak signal) stations.
Region (AREA)| Select region for radio reception: USA, LATIN AMERICA, JAPAN; EUROPE, ASIA, MIDDLE EAST, AUSTRALIA
Reconnect (RE-CON)| After completing Bluetooth pairing, Bluetooth devices can be disconnected and reconnected.
Setting the clock (CLOCK SET)| Setting the time in hours and minutes.
CLOCK FORMAT| Show in 12- or 24-hour format.
Button/function switch tone (BEEP TONE)| Activation and deactivation of button tone.

RADIO

Search for stations

  1. Press (1) repeatedly to select frequency band (FM1, FM2, FM3, AM1 (MW1) or AM2 (MW2).
  2. Press to search for a station.

Save stations (preset)

  1. Press and hold the button for about 2 seconds to save the station in the station memory.
  2. Tap the button to set the saved station.

PLAYBACK FROM USB OR SD MEMORY

  1. Press to pause or resume playback.
  2. Press once for random playback of single tracks, press twice for random playback of all files.
  3. Press to switch track. Press and hold the button to fast forward or back.
  4. Press once to repeat a track, press twice to repeat all.
  5. Press to go to next or previous file.

Playback from USB device

  1. Move cover over USB port (marked ) to left.
  2. Connect the USB device to the USB port.

Playback from SD memory card

Insert the SD card in the SD card slot. Playback from the SD card starts automatically.

PLAYBACK FROM OTHER EXTERNAL DEVICES

  1. Press the SRC button to select AUDIO IN mode.
  2. Switch on the external device and start playback.

Bluetooth mode

Calls can be made and answered through the product with a Bluetooth phone. It is also possible to listen to music from Bluetooth devices.

  1. Press to switch to Bluetooth mode (BT AUDIO).
  2. Press to answer call.
  3. Press and hold the button to reconnect call from speaker to phone.
  4. Press to decline/end call.

Preparations
The product and the Bluetooth devices to be used must first be paired. Pairing only needs to be done once per device.

Pairing with Bluetooth device

  1. Start the mobile phone and activate its Bluetooth function.
  2. Activate the mobile phone’s search for other Bluetooth devices.
  3. Mark MARQUANT102 in the pairing list.
  4. [PAIRED] is shown on the display if the pairing is successful. The paired unit then connects automatically to the high-fi system in the vehicle.

Calling (outgoing calls)

  1. Make a call from the mobile phone.
  2. [CALLING] is shown on the display when the number is called or selected.

Callback

  1. Press on the front panel to call the last called number.
  2. [CALLING] is shown on the display if the product calls the last called number.

NOTE:
The Bluetooth connection between the product and the phone used must be active.

Answering a call

  1. The calling number is shown for an incoming call. [PHONE IN] is shown if the calling number is not available.
  2. Press  to answer the call.
  3. After the end of the call, press to disconnect.

Reconnection of calls

Reconnection of voice from speaker to mobile phone can be done when call is in progress.
Press and hold the button to reconnect call from speaker to phone.

Bluetooth A2DP (audio streaming)

If a Bluetooth device that supports Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) is connected to the product it can play music saved in the device. If the connected device also supports Audio Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP) the playback of music in the device can be controlled from the product or its remote control.

REMOTE CONTROL

  1. Press SRC repeatedly to select [BT AUDIO].
  2. Press to start playback. Press again to pause playback.
  3. Press to switch between tracks forwards or back.

MAINTENANCE

  • Clean the front panel on the product with a soft brush or cloth. Other cleaning methods risk damaging the product.
  • Clean the connections on the main unit and the front with a dry and clean cotton cloth.
