Breitling Automatic Chronometer
The Breitling Automatic Chronometer is a high-precision time-keeping
instrument that has passed the tests imposed by the COSC (Swiss Official
Chronometer Testing Institute). It is equipped with a complex mechanism for
date, day, month, and moon-phase indicators.
It is important to note that adjusting the calendar or moving the hands backwards between 8 pm and 3 am should be avoided.
Product Usage Instructions
- Check whether the crown should be unscrewed (counterclockwise) before proceeding.
- Wind the watch with approximately 40 clockwise turns of the crown.
- If the watch has no date aperture, pull the crown out to position 2 and set the hour and minute hands. If the watch does have a date aperture, proceed as follows:
- Pull the crown out to position 3 and turn it so that the hour and minute hands point to 06:25.
- Push the crown into position 2 and turn it counterclockwise or clockwise to set the date to the previous day
- Pull the crown out to position 3 and turn the hands forwards until the correct date appears at midnight. Set the hour and minute hands.
- Push the crown back into position 1. If you had to unscrew the crown in step 1, press the crown gently, turning it clockwise, then tighten it again until you feel some resistance. Do not force it!

A chronometer is a high-precision time-keeping instrument that has
successfully passed the entire battery of tests imposed by the COSC (Swiss
Official Chronometer Testing Institute), a neutral and independent body which
individually tests each movement according to the specifications in force.
CAUTION: Mechanical watches with date, day, month, and moon-phase
indicators are equipped with a complex mechanism that is set in motion between
8 pm and 3 am. It is vital to avoid adjusting the calendar or moving the hands
backwards during this period.
STEP 1: Check whether the crown should be unscrewed (counterclockwise)
before you carry out the following steps.
STEP 2: Wind the watch with approximately 40 clockwise turns of the
crown.
STEP 3: If the watch has no date aperture, pull the crown out to position
2. Set the hour and minute hands. If the watch does have a date aperture,
proceed as follows: pull the crown out to position 3. Turn it so that the hour
and minute hands point to 06:25. Push the crown into position 2. Turn it
counterclockwise or clockwise to set the date to the previous day. Pull the
