AC INFINITY AC-SPA5-4 Self-Watering Fabric Pot Base
Product Information
The Self-Watering Fabric Pot Base is a product by AC Infinity designed to provide steady delivery of water and nutrients to plants grown in fabric pots. The product comes in two models, AC-SPA5-4 and AC-SPA9-4, and can support fabric pots weighing up to one hundred pounds. The product features an elevated plate that raises the fabric pot to prevent buildup and drain excess water into the basin below. It also includes fully adjustable wick lines that automatically supply water and nutrients to the plant’s roots and a reservoir meter that displays the current hydration levels to avoid under or overwatering.
Product Usage Instructions
Assembly
- Step 1: Place the support column in the center of the water basin, ensuring that the support column’s feet fit into the water basin’s center divots.
- Step 2: Place the water meter into the designated opening, then place the drain plate over the basin.
Maintenance
To manage runoff, it is recommended to drain excess water runoff when the
meter indicates a full basin. Pour the water out through the spout at the
opposite end of the meter. It is also recommended to clean the basin every two
weeks to prevent mineral buildup and pests from nesting.
Self-Watering
For the self-watering feature to function properly, the plant’s roots must
reach through to the bottom of the fabric pot. To fill the reservoir, lift
your fabric pot off of the base and pour water directly into the reservoir.
Refill the basin whenever the water meter reads empty. It is recommended to
clean and refill the basin every two weeks to prevent unwanted buildup and
further protect against interlocking roots and wick lines.
Product Warning:
To reduce the risk of fire or injury to persons, observe the following: do not
stand on the product, perform regular maintenance to prevent mineral buildup
or potential pest infestation, and exercise caution when fusing frayed wick
lines together. Improper use of lighters and other sources of fire may cause
severe burns, injury, or death.

MAINTENANCE
MANAGING RUNOFF
The drainage holes will deposit water runoff from the bottom and sides of the
fabric pot to maintain a cleaner workspace and prevent waterlogging.
MANAGING RUNOFF
- Drain excess water runoff when the meter indicates a full basin. Pour the water out through the spout at the opposite end of the meter.
- This step is only necessary if you are not utilizing the self-watering feature.
- It is recommended to clean the basin every two weeks to prevent minerals from building up and pests from nesting.
SELF-WATERING
PLANT PREREQUISITES
- Your plant’s roots must reach through to the bottom of your fabric pot for the self-watering action to function properly.
- You can confirm this by checking if your plant’s leaves are level with your fabric pot’s rim, or if any dried roots have penetrated the bottom.
FILLING THE RESERVOIR
- Fill the basin with water and your preferred water-soluble nutrients.
- When watering, lift your fabric pot off of the base and pour water directly into the reservoir. Leaving your fabric pot on top of the reservoir throughout the entire grow may cause the roots and wick lines to interlock, resulting in hindered water delivery.
- Refill the basin whenever the water meter reads empty. It is recommended to clean and refill the basin every two weeks to prevent unwanted buildup and further protect against interlocking roots and wick lines.
USING THE WICK LINES
- Thread the wick lines through the drain plate’s holes. Refer to the chart below. Make sure that the ends of the wick lines reach the basin floor.
- You may reduce the amount of water being fed by using only one wick line. You may also increase the amount of water being fed by using more wick lines and threading them diagonally.
- To keep the wick lines from fraying, you may light the ends to fuse the threads together.
EXERCISE CAUTION when lighting wick line ends, as improper use of lighters and other sources of heat can cause severe injuries.
PLACING YOUR FABRIC POT
- Set your fabric pot on top of the drain plate. Lift up your fabric pot when making adjustments. Twisting and rotating the fabric pot while it is resting on the pot base will pull the wick lines away from the water and disrupt the self-watering action.
- The wick lines will feed a steady stream of water and water-soluble fertilizer up to the lower third of your fabric pot and create a small buffer for air circulation.
- The use of potting mixes containing peat moss and/or coco coir is recommended to best ensure water delivery up to your plant’s roots.
Replace wick lines that start to unravel, discolor, or stop delivering water.
