CUA05-01 Cable Kit

This provides a guide to the assembly of cable kits for the use with British General consumer units. This product must be installed by a competent person in accordance with the current IET Wiring Regulations (BS 671) and Building Regulations.
Please ensure electrical supply in disconnected before installation.

Cable Kit Use:
a) To convert standard Main Switch consumer unit to a Split Load consumer unit application.
b) To convert standard Split Load consumer unit to a Dual RCD consumer unit application.
c) To convert standard Dual RCD consumer unit (22 module only) to a Triple RCD consumer unit application.
Note:- Suitable for use with insulated or metal consumer units.

Fitting Instructions:

A – Main Switch consumer unit to a Split Load consumer unit application.
i) Remove ‘U link’ between two neutral bars.
ii) Cut and remove blue N2 terminal bar label from consumer unit. Select and cut terminal bar label (item 5) to required length and affix above neutral terminal bar.
iii) Fit cables (Items 1 and 2)
a. Neutral cable (item 1), between -1st neutral terminal bar, in position marked ‘N’ and to upper neutral terminal of RCD.
b. Neutral cable (item 1), between 2nd neutral terminal bar, in position marked ‘N’ and to lower neutral terminal of RCD.
c. Live cable (Item 2), between lower live terminal of Main Switch (under the busbar) and upper live terminal of RCD.
B – Split Load consumer unit to a Dual RCD consumer unit application.
i) Fit additional neutral bar (Item 3) next to existing two neutral bars, using existing terminal clip for right hand end, and use supplied terminal clip (Item 4) to secure left hand end of terminal bar.
ii) Select and cut terminal label (item 5) to required length and affix above new Sd neutral terminal bar.
iii) Fit cables.
a. Neutral cable (item 1) between 1st neutral terminal bar, in position marked ‘N’ and to upper neutral terminal of RCD2.
b. Neutral cable (item 1) between new 3rd neutral terminal bar, in position marked ‘N’ and to lower neutral terminal of RCD2. c. Live cable (Item 2) between upper live terminal of RCD1 and upper live terminal of RCD2.
C – Dual RCD consumer unit (22 module only) to a Triple RCD consumer unit application.
i) Remove `U’ link between two neutral bars.
ii) Cut and remove blue neutral terminal labels above 3thand (neutral terminal bars from consumer unit. Select and cut terminal label (item 5) to required lengths and affix above terminals.
iii) Fit cables.
a. Neutral cable (item 1) between 1st neutral terminal bar, to upper neutral terminal of RCD2.
b. Neutral cable (item 1) between new 4th neutral terminal bar, in position marked ‘N’ and to lower neutral terminal of RCD3.
c. Live cable (Item 2) between upper live terminal of RCD2 and upper live terminal of RCD3.
Please ensure ALL screws are fully tightened before use.
General
Tools — Screwdriver PZ 2 or Flat screwdriver, knife and pliers.
Cleaning — use a soft damp cloth with luke warm water (only clean outside of unit).
Standards — All consumer units have been designed to comply with the requirements of BS EN 61439-3, BS 7671 and Part P document.
Guarantee
BG Electrical products are guaranteed against faulty materials and workmanship for a period of 5 years from date of delivery: products will be repaired or (at BG Electrical’s discretion) replacements will be supplied or (at BG Electrical’s discretion) a credit note will be issued.
This guarantee is subject to BG Electrical’s conditions of sale and in particular to the following conditions being met:

  1. Notification of any defect is given to BG Electrical as soon as reasonably practicable after becoming apparent, and the products then returned to BG Electrical.
  2. The products have only been operated under normal operating conditions and have only been subject to normal use.
  3. No work (other than normal and proper maintenance) has been carried out to the products without BG Electrical’s prior written consent.
  4. The products have been assembled, or incorporated into other goods, by a qualified and recognised electrician and only in accordance with any instructions issued by BG Electrical.
  5. The defect has not arisen from an item manufactured or supplied by a person other than BG Electrical.

This guarantee does not affect any consumer statutcy rights
All components used in a BG Electrical Consumer unit, must be supplied by BG Electrical. The use of any other components will negate compliance to BS EN 61439-3 and the BG Electrical Guarantee. Failure to fit the consumer unit in accordance with these instructions will invalidate the guarantee.
