Owner’s Manual
RIVET COUNTER HO SCALE THRALL-TRINITY 42’ COIL STEEL CAR
Our Rivet Counter™ brand strives to create the most accurately detailed model
trains imaginable. The real-world counterpart is meticulously researched to
ensure prototype
fidelity. Each model features numerous factory applied parts including
railroad, road number, and era-specific™ details whenever possible.
In the mid 1990s, Thrall Car Manufacturing introduced the 42’ coil steel car.
This car shared many traits common to other Thrall built coil steel cars,
including the basic body
construction and jack pad design. The big difference with this version of the
Thrall design was the fact that it was shorter and only had one hood. In 2001,
Thrall Car Manufacturing was purchased by Trinity Industries and with this
purchase, Trinity continued to build these same cars. The latest cars were
delivered in 2012. The Trinity built cars have some detail differences from
the Thrall built cars by adding a separate handrail to the ends of the car
body and moving the end railings off the ends of the hood. These cars can be
seen in singles or small groups roaming all over the country.

Coil Steel Sticker Wrap Installation Instructions
With each car there should be included a set of stickers to use for the modeler to use to wrap the coil steel load included with the model. There are five coils, one large, two medium and two small. Each sticker sheet will do the entire set. For each coil there are two round end sticker and one long one to wrap the circumference of the steel coil. Be sure to identify the correct stickers for the correct coil sizes.
- Remove one round end sticker and attach to the end of the coil centering it on the end.
- Follow the same process for the other end. Note that the sticker is a bit smaller in overall diameter than the coil. This is to ensure that the sticker is attached to the flat surface on the end.
- The long piece is designed to wrap around the outside of the coil.
The starting position is not critical but do be sure that the sticker is centered and square to the coil so that as it is wrapped around the coil it will be centered when it gets to the other end of the sticker. If there are any questions in regard to this process contact our customer support staff at support@scaletrains.com
