RIVET COUNTER BSC F68AH Bulkhead Flatcar
Product Information
The Rivet Counter HO Scale BSC F68AH Bulkhead Flatcar is a model train that is created with accurate detailing to match its real-world counterpart. The flat cars were first produced in 1969 and had 10′, 11 tall end bulkheads with wood facing, a wood deck with integral tie-down channels, and steel deck risers. Equipped with 36 wheels, trucks with hydraulic snubbers, and 15 End of Car Cushioning (EOCC), these 100-ton cars improved ride quality and reduced dangerous shifting loads. Over 1,100 of these bulkhead flats were built before production ceased in August 1974, and some are still in service today.
Product Usage Instructions

possible.
The BSC F68AH flat cars were first produced in 1969 and had 10’, 11” tall end
bulkheads with wood facing, a wood deck with integral tie-down channels, and
steel deck risers. Equipped with 36” wheels, trucks with hydraulic snubbers,
and 15” End of Car Cushioning (EOCC), these 100-ton cars improved ride quality
and reduced dangerous shifting loads.
Over 1,100 of these bulkhead flats were built before production ceased in August 1974, and some are still in service today. Early builds had an “H” shaped fabricated jacking pad at the bolsters, which changed to a fabricated box with an integral roping eye in the final two years of production. Although they were initially built with transverse steel risers in the deck, this feature started to be removed from the fleet after a few years of service. While most cars had a bulkhead face-to-face distance of 62’, some had added bulkhead faces that reduced the inside length to 60’, 6”.

Wood Deck Installation Instructions
- Remove pieces from the runners – Uses a sharp knife to score and snap the various sections lose.
- Test fit each piece before gluing – Some sanding or trimming of the pieces may be necessary to ensure a good fit.
- Gluing – Apply canopy glue, or another type of white glue to the car body and install the wood deck piece. Be sure to use sufficient glue to cover the entire mating surface on the car body for the wood deck. Place weights on the wood to hold the pieces in place and to keep them from warping until the glue dries. This will ensure that the wood is level and flat. Once the glue has dried remove the weight.
Work in sections. It is not recommended to try to attach all the pieces of the deck at one time. Install a few pieces and then allow them to dry completely. Then move on to the next pieces.
