FAQs
How long does a butane torch burn?****
A standard butane torch model will offer a burning time of about 30 minutes – 1 hour at full power.
What can you use a butane torch lighter for?****
Often used as daily task tools, butane torches work very well for home improvement and work to solve problems with plumbing, soldering, and brazing.
What temperature does a butane torch burn at?****
Butane torches are ideal for simple home improvement and cooking projects. They can meld metals and wiring, loosen stuck mechanical fasteners and fix plumbing issues. This torch burns at approximately 2,610 degrees.
What is the hottest part of the butane torch flame?****
Note that there is an inner and outer flame. The outer flame is a dark transparent blue. The inner flame is lighter, opaque in color, and comes to a sharp tip inside the outer flame. Just in front of that lighter flame is the “sweet spot,” or the hottest part of the flame.
What temperature does butane stop working?****
Butane gas will only work effectively at temperatures above -2°C. If you have a yellow or blue cylinder outside, then it may not be working this morning.
Why do butane torches stop working?****
After 3 or 4 refills, the tank is overwhelmed with an air pocket or bubble. This air prevents fuel from occupying the tank. Flip the lighter upside down and use a small screwdriver or a thin and narrow tool to compress the fuel valve and release the air.
Does butane burn clean?****
Propane and butane are both safe, non-toxic, clean-burning fuels that are a great source of energy.
Where do you store butane torch?****
Store your torch and spare gas canisters away from direct heat sources and sunlight, preferably in a locked cupboard, and always follow the safety instructions that come with your torch and on the butane canister.
Do butane torches not work in cold?****
Butane does not function well in cold temperatures. If a butane lighter is part of your EDC or emergency bag these will need to be placed in a pocket close to your skin and warmed up before use.
How does a butane torch spark?****
Most torch lighters use piezo ignition, in which a small hammer in the lighter strikes a piezoelectric crystal—typically quartz—to produce an electric spark that will light the butane gas being evenly released from the fuel tank.
Does butane burn hotter than LPG?****
Butane burns hotter than propane as it has a higher boiling point of -2ᵒC compared to propane at -42ᵒC.
How do I know if my butane torch is leaking?****
Conduct a leak test in a well-ventilated and spark-free area where there are no open flames. Attach torch to fuel cylinder. With the valve open, without lighting, rub soapy water on all connections. If bubbles appear, gas is leaking, and the torch must be repaired or replaced.
How long can you run a butane torch?****
Burning time depends on two factors: the amount of fuel the torch can hold, and how efficiently it burns. Expect to get between 30 minutes and an hour at full power of burning time for a standard torch, or three to five hours for industrial torches. Thirty minutes of burning time may be adequate for intermittent use.
Why do butane torches stop working?****

Why is my butane torch making a hissing noise?****
You will likely hear a hissing noise, which is not a problem unless the hissing remains after refueling your lighter, indicating a broken gasket.
