This vacuum is intended for commercial use.

Thermal Protector:

An internal thermal protector has been used in your cleaner to prevent overheating if a large item or clog gets caught in the nozzle or at the opening of the bag. When the blockage is not removed, the thermal protector will trip and the cleaner will stop running.

If this happens, turn the cleaner OFF and disconnect the cleaner from the electrical outlet. Then, disconnect the nozzle and remove the obstruction. Within 30 minutes, the thermal protector will cool and automatically reset and cleaning may resume. If the cleaner does not operate, allow additional time for the thermal protector to reset.
Note: The canister must remain unplugged during the 30-minute cooling period.

HOW TO USE

Rug and Floor Nozzle

The combination rug and floor nozzle has been designed to do an efficient job on both carpet and hard surface floors.

Hard Surface Floors

Lower brushes to clean bare floors by sliding the indicator to BARE FLOOR.

Raise brushes to clean rugs or carpets by sliding the indicator to RUG. For the most efficient cleaning, place the nozzle flat on rugs and hard surface floors.

Edge Cleaning

This feature provides for improved cleaning of carpet edges near baseboards and solid furniture. Passages have been added to the side of the nozzle to increase airflow carrying dust down from the carpet edge to the nozzle.

Attach Tools

Attach tools to the end of the hose by rotating the plastic latch ring until slots align; insert the tool and rotate the latch ring to lock. To remove the tool, reverse the above procedure. Attach the tool to either extension wand by pushing the button projection end of the tool into the spring latch of the wand. The latch will snap into place when locked together. To disconnect, press down on the center of the spring latch and remove the tool.

Clean Stairs

Place cleaner on stairs.
Clean stairs from bottom to top.

Blower

  • Used to blow dirt out of areas where it is impossible for suction to reach. To use a blower, turn the hose connector as shown and remove the hose from bag door.
  • Pull up the louvered door at the back of the cleaner and insert the hose connector into the corresponding slots in the opening. Turn the hose connector in either direction until it locks into place.

MAINTENANCE

Disconnect the cleaner from the electrical outlet before attempting to service it in any manner.

The Bag

Check the bag from time to time and empty it when necessary. When the bag is filled with dirt, the cleaner will not operate efficiently. Never operate cleaner without the bag.
CAUTION : Very fine materials, such as face powder or cornstarch will seal the pores of the bag. When the cleaner is used to remove material of this nature, the bag should be emptied frequently.

Empty Bag

Disconnect the cleaner from the electrical outlet.

  • The bag is located behind the bag door in front of the cleaner.
  • Remove the hose and set the cleaner on the end.
  • Turn the bag door lock clockwise and open the door.
  • Remove the bag by grasping the tab on the inside of the bag ring and pulling the bag from the cleaner.
  • Hold the bag ring firmly on a piece of paper while shaking the bag vigorously until it is clean. The bag may also be turned inside out for a thorough cleaning.
  • Replace bag. Use a crevice tool or similar object to push the bag into the proper position. The bag ring should be seated firmly against ridges in cleaner.

Secondary Filter

Disconnect the cleaner from the electrical outlet.

The secondary filter protects the motor from dirt particles. It is located at the front of the bag compartment. When bag is removed, check filter, which is not removable. If filter is dirty, remove dirt with a small brush.

Rug and Floor Nozzle

To maintain the cleaning effectiveness of your rug and floor nozzle, brushes may need to be replaced occasionally. See your nearest Hoover Factory Service Center or Authorized Warranty Dealer for new brushes.

Lubrication
The motor is equipped with bearings that contain sufficient lubrication for the life of the motor. The addition of lubricant could cause damage. Therefore, do not add lubricant to motor bearings.

FAQs

Why does the cleaner shut off?****

The cleaner has a thermal protector. The thermal protector will shut the cleaner off if it overheats. Turn the cleaner off and unplug it from the electrical outlet. Wait 30 minutes for the thermal protector to reset. Plug the cleaner back in and turn it on.

Why does the cleaner only run for a few minutes before shutting off?****

The bag may be full or clogged. Check to see if the bag is full or clogged. If so, empty or clean out the bag and check to see that all parts of the bag are seated properly in place. If you have checked all of these things and they are not the problem, call a qualified service technician to check your vacuum cleaner.

Why does my vacuum cleaner smell like burning rubber?****

Your vacuum cleaner has a thermal protector that shuts off your vacuum when it gets too hot. This is normal and is not an indication of a problem with your vacuum cleaner. When you turn your vacuum back on, it should run normally again after 30 minutes or so, depending on how hot it got.

How long should a canister vacuum last?****

On average, According to Consumer Reports, vacuum cleaners last a median of eight years. But the lifespan varies wildly by not only brand but your own personal use. This should be expected.

Do canister vacuums work better?****

Canister vacuums generally have more suction power than upright models. This power makes them particularly well-suited for cleaning bare floors. And while they’re also efficient at cleaning carpets, upright vacuums, especially models that use collection bags, tend to be more effective carpet cleaners.

What does a vacuum canister do?****

In this case, a vacuum reservoir (or canister) could help. A Vacuum Reservoir stores the highest vacuum created. Then, the booster has it when you hit the pedal. This is a simple and cost-effective solution if the idle vacuum is borderline.

What is a bagless canister vacuum?****

A bagged vacuum cleaner works in the traditional way of using a replaceable bag as a filter to trap dirt while allowing air to flow through the bag. Bags must be replaced when they are full. Bagless vacuum cleaners use filters to trap dirt and debris in a dirt cup or chamber that can then be emptied.

How does a vacuum container work?****

A vacuum sealer removes the air from a bag or container and seals it closed. This is done using a combination of suction and heat. The suction removes the air from the bag, and the heat is used to seal the bag closed.
