To avoid serious injury, keep hands and fingers away from spinning blades and bits. Always maintain awareness of cutters
NEVER position the featherboard directly above the blade of a table saw or the bit on a router table. This could lead to dangerous kickback, potentially resulting in serious injury.
Make sure that the featherboard is oriented correctly. The fingers should be pointed in the direction you will be feeding the workpiece. (The correct feed direction is marked with an arrow on the featherboard.)
Always use a push block or push stick to advance the workpiece past the blade or bit.
Setup
- Assemble your featherboard as shown **in Fig. 1.
Note** that the nylon washers need to be used only with the Rockler or Bench Dog Pro Fence (sold separately) or any other fence that has a T-Track set back slightly from the face of the fence.
-
Slide the featherboard onto your fence so that the T-bolts fit into the T-track or T-slot of your fence. Make sure that the fingers of the featherboard are pointed in the direction of feed. Position the featherboard as desired, remembering to keep it clear of cutters.
-
Slide the workpiece under the featherboard. The first finger of the featherboard is shorter than the rest. Adjust the featherboard so that the first finger is against the workpiece and the featherboard is parallel to the table surface. This will provide optimal downward pressure as the workpiece is pushed forward. Fig. 2.
-
Fully tighten the four-star knobs to secure the featherboard in place.
