SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Make sure that you are capable of using the stool. Some medical conditions and certain medicines, alcohol or drugs may make it unsafe to use the stool.
  •  When the stool is transported it must be placed in a suitable location to prevent damage.
  • Inspect the stool visually for damage and check that it is safe to use.
  • The stool must be inspected regularly when used professionally. Ensure that the stool is suitable for the task.
  • Do not use the stool if it is damaged.
  • Remove dirt, e.g. wet paint, clay, oil or snow, from the stool.
  • A risk assessment must be made in accordance with applicable regulations in the country of use, prior to the stool being used at work.

USE

  • The stool must be unfolded to the right position and it must be fully unfolded.
  • Catches, iffitted, must be locked before use.
  • The stool must be placed on a firm, level and immovable foundation.
  • When the stool is positioned, consideration must be taken to the risk of collisions with the stool, e.g. with pedestrians, vehicles or doors. Lock doors (not emergency exits) and windows, in the work area, where possible.
  • The stool must be placed on its feet, not upside down.
  • The stool must not be placed on slippery surfaces (for example, ice, shiny surfaces or heavily soiled fixed surfaces) unless further actions are taken to prevent it from sliding.
  • Do not exceed the maximum load of the stool.
  • Do not overreach.
  • Do not get down from the stool on a higher level without additional safety measures.
  • Do not stack stools to gain extra height.
  • The stool must only be used for easy work during a short period.
  • Use stools that do not conduct electricity when performing work where it is not possible to switch off the power.
  • Do not use stool outdoors during bad weather, for example, heavy winds.
  • Take precautions to prevent children playing on the stool.
  • Concentrate on what you are doing when climbing up and down from the stool.
  • Keep you balance when climbing up and down from the stool.
  • Wear suitable footwear when standing on the stool.
  • Avoid excessive side loads, for example, drilling in brick and concrete.
  • Do not spend long periods on the stool without regular breaks (tiredness is a risk factor).
  • Steady yourself with one hand while working from the stool or take additional safety precautions if this is not possible.

MAINTENANCE

  • Inspect the parts of the stool and hinges on a regular basis. Lubricate the hinges if necessary, but exercise care to avoid oil dripping on the rungs or side rails
  • The stool must be stored where it is not subjected to e.g. rain or snow.
