Installation

To Install 104006 Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plate with Recessed Power with a Flat Panel TV Bracket For retrofit work, determine the location of your flat panel TV mounting bracket. Using the template supplied (see back of instruction sheet), trace the opening needed. Using a drywall knife cut a hole in the drywall the size of the template. Insert a single gang retrofit workbox (like the one shown in the picture). Securely fasten the workbox to the wall. Switch the appropriate circuit breaker OFF or remove the fuse(s) before wiring. Run a source of power to this workbox. Connect hotline (black) wire to brass colored terminal or screw and neutral (white) wire to silver colored terminal or Screw. Be sure to connect grounding (green) or bare grounding wire to a green-colored terminal screw (see Figure 1). For shock protection, this UR, UL recognized component receptacle must be properly grounded. Caution – use copper wire only with this receptacle.

Once you have wired the receptacle, begin by inserting the receptacle portion of the plate into the retrofit work box. Once the entire recessed plate is flush to the wall, using the two white screws supplied, screw the receptacle portion of the plate to the work box. Next, screw down the screws with wings. These wings will fasten tightly against the back of the drywall. Switch the appropriate circuit breaker ON or insert fuse(s). Plug all necessary video and audio cables. Install your flat panel TV mounting bracket per the flat panel TV bracket manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure to read all instructions. For new construction installations simply use a new nail-on box and follow all other instructions.

FAQ’s

For what use do recessed cable plates?

Low voltage cables are installed below your flat panel TV, amplifier, or other audio and video equipment using 1 Gang Recessed Low Voltage Cable Plates from DataComm Electronics.  This plate’s installation requires a low-voltage mounting bracket.

Describe the cable pass

Cable pass-throughs are any of a number of devices that are used to allow wires and cables to safely pass-through walls or other surfaces. They lessen or do away with the harm that friction or chafing would otherwise do.

How can you know if a live cable outlet?

To test a coaxial outlet, just plug in the DSS-01 Coax Cable Tester and press the button. You will start getting results right away, and you’ll know whether your coax outlet is live in less than 10 seconds.  The outlet is not live and is not receiving a signal when the LED light indicator is red.

A mounting plate is what?

The component of a hinge, handle, or latch that attaches the hardware to a cabinet is called a mounting plate. Doors can be fastened to frames more easily with mounting plates. The part of a hinge that adheres to the wood is called a mounting plate. Furniture, cabinets, and doors can all use mounting plates.

What cable is used for low voltage?

Low-voltage landscape wiring uses 12-, 14-, and 16-gauge double-strand wire. Usually, the wire is buried in close proximity to the ground.

Can you run low-voltage wire through the wall?

Low voltage and other cables can be safely run in bundles. Low-voltage cables can be run together in bundles. Running them through walls becomes much simpler as a result of this. There should be no signal interference between any of the signals as long as the cables are properly insulated.

How do you attach a cable plate to the wall?

You slide it in there, and as you begin to screw it in, these tiny tabs right here come up. To illustrate, let’s imagine that they act in this manner, pinching the drywall behind them.

What is a mounting plate?

The component of a hinge, handle, or latch that attaches the hardware to a cabinet is called a mounting plate. Doors can be fastened to frames more easily with mounting plates. The part of a hinge that adheres to the wood is called a mounting plate. Furniture, cabinets, and doors can all use mounting plates.

How do I know if my cable outlet is active?

By physically moving your cable modem from the cable outlet to the cable outlet and plugging it into each coax outlet to check for a signal and connectivity, you can test the coax outlet’s signal. A signal was detected if your internet modem connected as expected. No signal means there is no connection.

Where do you hang a wall plate?

An arrow designates which side of each screwless wall plate should be facing up. With the arrow side towards the device, place the wall plate over the base. Following that, just snap the plates to the base. To remove the plates from the base if you decide to change them in the future, slide a little screwdriver into the bottom slot.
