Bonnet Hinge Fitting Guide

In order to fit your Optimal bonnet hinges you will need to remove the bonnet from the vehicle, we recommend this being a two person job.
To fit follow these simple instructions:

  • Raise the existing bonnet to a vertical position, with a person on either side, lift the bonnet from the vehicle.

  • Unscrew the existing bonnet hinges from the bonnet.

  • Clean the area ready for your new bonnet hinges.

  • Remove the grub screw from the back of the bonnet hinge with a 4mm Allen key.

  • Once the grub screw is removed push the bonnet pin out and remove bushes.

  • Fit the hinge to the bulkhead using the same process reversed.

  • The grub screw will locate into the notch in the pin, this is so the pin sits around the curve of the grub screw.
This is to ensure the pin is secure.

  • With the self-adhesive gaskets provided, stick these onto the back of the hinges before screwing to the bonnet.

  • With one person on each side, lift the bonnet back on.

  • Using the T-30 torx head in your screw pack, screw the 3 high security stainless steel bolts provided into the underside of the bonnet hinges, attaching the hinges to the bonnet. (We recommend the use of an anti-vibration thread lock such as Loctite 243 on threads when fitting screws.)

  • Check alignments and adjust as necessary before fully tightening screws.

Care Instructions for Optimal Products

Thank you for your order! We want you to get the best out of your purchase therefore please take a moment to read the care instructions below.

This product has been anodised and requires the following notes to be taken into consideration when fitting to and washing your vehicle. When fitting your products, we recommend that you use an anti-seize grease or some form of lubrication on the thread of any of the stainless steel bolts provided. This will prevent the bolts from “picking up”.

A caustic free shampoo suitable for anodised products must be used on this product as a caustic base product will eat away at the anodised surface leaving your products dull and patchy and over time could cause surface corrosion. We sell our own caustic free shampoo which we recommend on all our products (see Opti wash on our website).

We cannot accept responsibility if these instructions are not adhered to.
